Sorry if this has been discussed before, I had no luck with searches. Is there a way to make a unit respawn after destruction? What I'm trying to do is have SAM coverage over certain areas. If those SAMs are destroyed I'd like to have them respawn a set amount of time after destruction (30 minutes or so). Is this possible? Thanks for your help!

Weapon use is more primitive as there is no HUD. In some ways this is easier as there's less to mess with but it can also be more challenging. The Su-25 is an extremely rewarding fighting experience.

Ok another question: How does resupply for ships work? Like for instance can you resupply the Kuznetsov either from another ship or from a land-based (harbor) warehouse?
-
Well that sucks. But good that it's in the future plans!
-
Question: If you have linked warehouses with "convoys" that go between them, will there be an actual convoy generated in game?
-
I'm really blown away by these effects! Crazy how much it makes it look so much more "alive".
-
That 2nd one has some super cool shots of S-25's being fired! Those have a very bright orange streak, would be awesome to get that effect in DCS.

One thing I do is approach the target area with it at my 10 or 2 o'clock. Zoom in and look for all the normal stuff--dust trails, muzzle flashes, and of course missile launches! From this position it is quicker to turn away to evade a threat. Once you have a fix on where the target (especially the threats) is then you can come back in with an attack.

I've been a fan of the Su-25a since the very beginning of Lock-on. Seeing the improvements over the years has been incredible--first the AFM, then a new external model, and now the 6dof pit. It would be a dream to have this aircraft make it to the next level. Before or after the FA-18? Whichever! But honestly this series DESPERATELY needs a SEAD capable aircraft for the blue side...bring the FA-18 first.

I wonder how much of this could be improved by creative mission design . . . What I'm thinking is to utilize the resource manager to make the better missiles limited in quantity, this would make fighter pilots be a little more conservative with their higher value missiles. This of course could be applied to the mud movers as well--limit quantities of certain missiles and bombs. Very defined goals based on ground unit movement or certain target destruction could help force some teamwork. This could also apply to fighters as well--throw in some juicy AI targets that the fighters are tasked to hunt...transports that might carry more high-value missiles perhaps? These ideas of course would require a very talented mission builder with lots of time. And a server to host it on!

Call me crazy but I actually find the Su-25 much easier to handle in situations where you are lower and in close with the targets. With the A-10C you have to be very heads-down working with the TGP and Mav screens to target weapons. With the Su-25 you have just what you need on the gunsight--see the target, put the dot on it, and pull the trigger....only thing that is a challenge is that with the laser guided stuff you have to lase all the way in.
-
When I go to the controls page all the controls for the A-10C are listed under the A-10A. Some of the ones don't work at all like the weapons release, weapons fire, and cannon mode. I had a similar thing happen before with the Su-25A and the A-10C where the Su-25 had all the assignments for the A-10. It took a full uninstall and delete of all files associated with DCS to fix that one. I really don't want to do that as it's becoming an install dance to get this thing going: --Install Lock-on --Install DCS World --Install A-10C --Install Flaming Cliffs --Install Combined Arms --Uninstall Lock-on --Track down all left over files from Lock-on install and delete them --Clean registry of Lock-on entries --Run DCS and let auto updater do its magic --Set up graphics and sound settings to preference --Hopefully controls section will display correctly. Spend time setting up control profiles for each aircraft with 3 different controllers (Ch stick, throttle, Saitek Rudder) --If still awake, run an instant action mission to uncover what steps were messed up on

Thanks for the hard work, ED. Downloading now! I really like how you gave us an update on the missing items at the bottom of the changelog. It's frustrating as a fan to have to wait for new goodies but it's got to be even more frustrating as a developer when things don't go quite to plan and you have to face the backlash! -
What's so hard to understand: why would you rebuild something that is essentially done already?
-
I'm a little confused, I thought that a couple of months ago someone from ED said that Nevada was essentially done the holdup was due to EDGE not being complete. Now we learn that they are rebuilding Nevada? I love the new models! But I think the original Nevada from a few years ago during the A-10C beta actually looked better. More realistic colors and such. The new screenshots look very similar to the same old Lock-on stuff, cartoonish and plastic-y.

I managed to get on the 159th once so far on one of the CA missions. Unfortunately there was no one home on the other side in a CA slot so I only saw some action from AI. I don't think any of the enemy CAS managed to get close enough so I didn't get to tangle with them either. But the potential fun of this is HUGE! It's surprising to me that more people with CA aren't online mixing it up! One thing I noticed was that I didn't get credit at all for kills. Now granted these were kills of AI only, I didn't get any kills on human opponents. Is this normal? It doesn't seem fair that you don't get the kill message or any points. Not that scoring points is what it's all about though...

Thanks for all the info guys! I'm looking forward to my first time getting taken out by a Mav or Vikhr!

Does anyone know of a server that's running CA? Even better if it has CA and aircraft...
-
I just picked up Combined Arms in the summer sale. How does multiplayer work? I joined a few servers that had a good number of people in them and I couldn't figure out how to get into a tank (only aircraft spots still listed). Is this even possible or does it need to be a CA-only server? I didn't see any of these in the server browser either.

It would be great when creating missions to have the option to select either the year or maybe just an era (70's, 80's, 90's, etc). Once a selection is made the only units and weapons that will be available will be ones that operated in that era. This would take the research and guesswork out of creating realistic scenarios. With aircraft becoming more available from different timeframes this will become more important. I hate getting into a server that is supposedly limited to the 80's to find A-10C's and P-51's flying around. Ridiculous. Of course this should have an option for "all era's" too for those that want it. A freeflight server would be an example. Anyone agree?

Perfect post! +1 to this! Sadly 2, 3, and 5 are ED's weak areas. But they ROCK at 1, 4, and 6!

Superb SU-25 cockpit in the making!
VapoR replied to tflash's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Fantastic work on the Su-25 pit! This is my favorite plane in the series. Right now there is a lack of good user-made campaigns for the Su-25, I'm going to try to do my part to fix that. MP with the Su-25 on most servers seems to be an afterthought--ie they just slap a pair of them in just to say they did. The way the missions are set up isn't exactly the best for this aircraft's role. The most common mistake I see is using too many waypoints. I wish I had a server then I could try to fix this too! -

medium textures-but high cockpit textures?
VapoR replied to 9.JG27 DavidRed's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
This thread is relevant to my interests. Maybe there is a way to copy/paste the high textures for all the cockpits over to the medium ones?
