  1. The CBU-97 SHOULD work like this: I rather doubt that it's modelled in such detail . . . .
  2. There's a mod management tool called Loman (Modman in later versions), which will automatically install any mod created with it, of which this is one. Find the download here: http://www.checksix-fr.com/bibliotheque/index.php?page=detail&ID=4100 Most modmakers tend to use it these days. Just beware that that page is not for the latest version of Lomac - which version are you running?
  3. The MeInit shouldn't change significantly between 1.12 and 1.12a, so you should be fine. Had you reinstalled v1.12a over the skins pack, you wouldn't have been able to use the skins - the textures would be there, but you wouldn't have been able to select them in the Mission Editor. The MeInit.xml file is basically a big long list of units, countries, and properties of the above. Controls which units are assigned to which countries, which weapons are assigned to which units, which skins are assigned to which units . . . and on, and on. There's an awful lot in there ;) But that's as an aside, you should by now have the working skins pack :)
  4. Superb idea, will try and forward that one on . . . .
  5. Bear in mind that AI aircraft in Lomac will already open their canopies and the pilots disappear after landing . . . . .
  6. Mine went to 2.66GHz with a single BIOS change last night. Hee. So that's £150 in the bank straight away . . . . grin. Of course, it didn't actually manage to load CS:Source for a quick test, although oddly enough it survived the stress test . . . . but anyway ;) That was Super Pi in 23 seconds, IIRC. But only from average 165 to average 173 in the Source stress test. Should really try it on Lomac when I get a minute . . .
  7. They are the maximum that you can set in the Mission Editor. They don't affect the flight model. Max fuel is max fuel at 100%. Max speed - well that's to stop you putting in a value of Mach 10 and creating a flightplan outside the aircraft's capabilities. Weight - to stop you overloading the aircraft. They have NO effect on the flight model! As for which weapons you can use, that most depends on the capabilities of the flight model you're using. The A-10 doesn't have radar, let alone ground radar, so things like AMRAAM and Harpoon are straight out. LGBs I believe are clunky, TV-guided bombs I'm not sure about. Mavericks yes, Sidewinders yes, rocket pods yes. IIRC creating new CLSIDs for aircraft doesn't work because there's no code to call that CLSID. That's all a bit murky, though . . . .
  8. . . . . if it was that simple, it'd have been done ;) You can't edit the flight models, it's hidden in the code. Not user-editable. Changing values in the MeInit generally changes the way the Mission Editor works - so you could set waypoints for the maximum speed greater than the A-10 can achieve, and load it up to a maximum weight greater than normal. But despite all that . . . . it's still an A-10, there's no getting around that.
  9. Yes. I don't think that's a secret, you can pretty much tell from the videos . . . . Technically I'm not 100% certain because I haven't upgraded to a TIR4 yet (yes, I'm scared of my mates taking the piss :P), but slewing the view in-cockpit there are definitely limits on the motion. edit - in fact, watching the 6DOF video, I noticed that the reflections on the targeting screen move depending on where your head is. Which I hadn't noticed before. Coooooooooll . . . .
  10. Wait, not just air cooling . . . . a completely stock Intel-supplied heatsink and fan. Read all about it here: http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/showdoc.aspx?i=2802&p=1 I just bought an E6400, and while I knew it was overclockable I didn't know it was THAT overclockable! This could be fun . . .
  11. Hehehe . . . you do make it easy :P You can't photoshop a picture that old, can you? Right . . . . . You CAN take a modern photo (with exhaust), shop the insignia, drop the MiG in for the "OMG it must be taken in Russia!" look, turn it back to black and white, and pixellate it, though. This forum could probably replicate a pic like that in less than half an hour ;) You COULD do all of the above. If you so wished. Of course, the fact that you COULD do it doesn't prove that it HAS been done. But it's not as watertight as you seem to think. Y'know chaps, sometimes I think Corsair is just a forum-raiding troll :P Oh, edit to hammer the point home :P
  12. Yep. They cut a BMW Z8 in half. . . . . I wanted to shake the bad guy's hand after that :P
  13. Could be shopped. Could be real. Dunno. Call me paranoid, but I'm wondering what the MiG's doing so conveniently in that picture :P For why would a Tomcat be flying around, gear down, with a MiG turning away, close by, in the same frame . . . unless it was to prove a point? From the spying point of view you can learn just as much - maybe more - from tearing down an airframe/avionics system as you can from actually flying it. It's not conclusive by any means . . . either way.
  14. . . . that doesn't mean it's not possible to switch them on or off depending on choice, though ;)
  15. Ah! Purely by chance, I think I can guess an answer to this. I've read stories of the nuclear subs involved in spy missions in the Cold War sucking up silt into the reactor cooling systems when operating too shallow. Electric subs don't need a seawater inflow to cool the reactor they don't have, so they can operate in shallower waters for sneaky missions :)
  16. Last post in the forums December 28th, 2006. Think Ross is still beavering away at it :)
  17. That is a *good* idea. Don't know if that's been suggested to ED before, but in the meantime have a look at the Ka50 startup video currently available and see if you can learn the routine a bit from that. It's pretty representative of the current cockpit :) PS - you noticed there are hints labels in the cockpit visible in that video to tell you what each switch does?
  18. Well wouldn't you need proper submarine modelling for them to be of any importance? None of the subs in Lomac go underwater . . . .
  19. The Block 60 is the most advanced off-the-shelf F-16 available. IIRC the latest Israeli F-16s are of a similar spec level, but using Israeli avionics and CFTs. Again IIRC, some F-15s will be removed from service as the F-22 starts coming through in numbers . . . . but there won't be enough F-22s to entirely replace them. AESA radar, JHMTD, Aim-9X, and AIM-120D should keep the Eagle going and competitive for some time ;) I seem to recall some mutterings about engine upgrades, but not certain about that.
  20. Yeah, even for everything installed an PSU calculator reckoned I shouldn't be using more than 400W, and I had everything pulled and it still shut down with the "trying to get the blasted PSU online" message on the POST LEDs. Weird. The shocks were to the fingers I was holding the cable with - got it three or four times, decided that was enough, went back to a standard kettle lead . . . . and that stopped it. All in all . . . I don't think I'm entirely happy with the power for this system!
  21. Bummer - the "decent" 450W PSU that arrived with the other components didn't actually provide enough power to boot the system. AND for some reason the cable kept electrocuting me every time I tried to connect or disconnect it. It's running temporarily on an unbranded 550W that I just happened to have lying around, and I'm just crossing my fingers that it doesn't break anything before I order a proper replacement! However - it DID double my FPS in the BS Beta ;) And it seems to handle stressful situations well - this afternoon I left a mate playing HL2 Episode One on it, all the way through, graphics maxed out, not a hiccup, perfectly smooth . . . . I quite like this whole "power" thing ;)
  22. SWAT 4 did it ages ago - the posters in the levels are taking images directly from the net. If it's done well, then it can work. It's a blast to wander through a SWAT level you haven't played in a year and see a poster for something that's due out soon . . . . . really adds immersion. On the minus side, it can be a pain in the arse having posters on every wall, and I don't know how immersive you can make adverts that are set 140 years in the future . . . .
  23. Yer a muppet :P You know perfectly well what was meant . . . .
