How to STOP Unsubscribed Thread Email Notifications
SnowTiger replied to SnowTiger's topic in Forum and Site Issues
I'm impressed with ED's interest in this forum thread. We have a new site with tons of issues (i.e. Painfully Slow Loading Pages, Email Notifications for Every Single Post, Email Notifications of Posts in threads I am NOT SUBSCRIBED to, Seemingly Difficult to Navigate the new layout etc). It's super annoying that these issues have not yet been addressed. But then if no one from ED even looks at this Forum Thread that deals with "Forum and Site Issues" then why even have this thread ? -
Ever since this Forum has been changed I am continuously receiving Notification Emails from Topics/Threads I have NOT Subscribed to and I cannot find how to Unsubscribe from Topics/Threads that I'm Not Subscribed to. Can someone Please inform me how I might stop these emails from coming (without stopping notifications from Topics/Threads that I am subscribed to) ? I have viewed my list of subscriptions and of course, none of those I'm not subscribed to show up so the link at the bottom of the notification emails is Useless ! .. Unless I'm missing something ?

Not only do I dislike this new Forum layout, it just took me an HOUR just to figure out how to post (because I couldn't see whether or not I was Logged in, nor could I see HOW to Login). The thing I dislike the most (now that I found the Login and How to Post) is the Constant Email Notifications to Groups/Topics that I have Never been Subscribed to. And the Link (in the emails) that is supposed to take you to a page to deal with Notifications and/or Subscriptions doesn't seem to do anything (but then I wasn't auto-logged in to begin with). Ultimately, I preferred the Old Forum. At least I could navigate it.

I noticed it a few days ago myself. The alarm would sound when there is a missile launch but I never saw any aircraft or SA's or anything on the RWR. Only the BB.

"Pure Client Required" ERROR in MP
SnowTiger replied to SnowTiger's topic in DCS World Tutorial & Help Requests
Okay ... It looks like I'm back in business. I should also note that I also updated Tacview which was out of date and mentioned in one of the Log files. I also turned a bunch of other Modules back ON that I previously turned off trying to diagnose this problem. This had no further adverse effect. So thank you to everyone who replied (and didn't rip my head off). @Chump - Thank you kindly. It appears the advice you gave was the info I needed to get this working again. I am truly grateful. Thanks for everything. And thanks again to everyone to offered help. -
"Pure Client Required" ERROR in MP
SnowTiger replied to SnowTiger's topic in DCS World Tutorial & Help Requests
I'll check things out to see how and if they are working after I get some coffee in me. In the mean time, I thought I would add the following in response to a couple suggestions. First of all, I don't use Sleep or Hybernate or Screen Savers .... EVER. I do have a 3 platter drives for Data Only and an SSD that I did have DCS installed on for about 1 year (no issues). This current installation of Win10 and DCS is on a new, 1TB M2 Drive that is only 1 year old at most. I'll let you know how it's working by Noon Today (EST). -
"Pure Client Required" ERROR in MP
SnowTiger replied to SnowTiger's topic in DCS World Tutorial & Help Requests
Hi Chump A while ago I deleted the F-18, ran a repair and tried again ... same thing. I reinstalled the F-18 and tried again ... same thing. I also noticed that my Tacview was out-of-date, so I updated that as well. Still not improvement. However, I deleted the precise files you suggested, ran a Repair and WAS ABLE to get into a Server. Being almost 3am here, I didn't actually try flying. I will give it a shot in a couple different MP Servers in the morning and follow up with an Update. But so far it looks like this nightmare might well be resolved. I'm certainly further along now that I was yesterday so that's a really good thing. SO thank you kindly for that. I'll let you know in the morning if the matter is permanently resolved. Until then ... merci. -
"Pure Client Required" ERROR in MP
SnowTiger replied to SnowTiger's topic in DCS World Tutorial & Help Requests
I'm up for that BUT ... can you please inform me which Files and/or Folders to Delete and where I can find them ? Alternately, should I try uninstalling the F-18 (somehow) ? -
"Pure Client Required" ERROR in MP
SnowTiger replied to SnowTiger's topic in DCS World Tutorial & Help Requests
Why ? Does it appear the problems are (at least in part) coming from the F-18 ? I have yet to sit in the F-18 or F-16. I'll gladly uninstall or delete whatever I have to ... as long as we aren't talking about a complete reinstall yet. That takes DAYS for me to do where I am. -
"Pure Client Required" ERROR in MP
SnowTiger replied to SnowTiger's topic in DCS World Tutorial & Help Requests
I'm sorry to say I don't know what a HEX Editor is. But I'd sure love to figure out how to resolve this and at least a couple of you seem to be on the right track (at least able to identify some of the issues). I've been with DCS for years but have never gotten into the coding and script stuff. It's out of my league of experience. But if someone can provide simple, easy to understand instructions I'll do whatever I have to do. In the meantime, I agree that continuing to Repair without changing something is likely doomed to fail .. again. However, if there is a file or files and/or a Folder that I should try deleting to see if a Repair might clean it up with proper files, I'm willing to give it a go. Any advice and help at this point is greatly appreciated. Thanks again. -
"Pure Client Required" ERROR in MP
SnowTiger replied to SnowTiger's topic in DCS World Tutorial & Help Requests
Unfortunately, I have booted and rebooted my PC and started and restarted DCS and run multiple Repairs. Most often I have a Green Shield until I get into a Server. Other times it's Red right from the get-go. -

"Pure Client Required" ERROR in MP
SnowTiger replied to SnowTiger's topic in DCS World Tutorial & Help Requests
UPDATE: I have checked to make sure my Antivirus (AVG) is not interfering and in fact is "ignoring" anything to do with DCS. I do NOT have ANY Mods. It is a clean install of DCS on a clean install of Win10. I have run Repair after each Update and several times since trying to resolve this issue. Even after ensuring AVG ignores DCS, the problem remains in MP. The files removed were the FXO folder and metashaders and one other. Then Repair was run. That enabled me to get to the point where you select the aircraft you want to fly (in a MP Server) until SRS starts then I'd be kicked to DCS GUI. I have no experience with Log Files. -
"Pure Client Required" ERROR in MP
SnowTiger replied to SnowTiger's topic in DCS World Tutorial & Help Requests
Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, I have already done that ... a few times. Of all that I have done (deleting specific files/folders and run Repair), it gets rid of the Red Integrity Check Shield turning it Green .... until I get into the server then when SRS starts I get dumped back to DCS Server List either with the same error (and Red Shield) or I get the error on the very next attempt to get back into the server again. -
It has been a LONG time since I flew DCS. I had Win10 completely reinstalled in December and have since installed DCS World Open Beta and kept it up to date with Updates. However, I have not flown since reinstalling it (9 months). I jumped in today to start getting things set up again and I cannot join any servers. I have deleted fxo and a couple other folders which helped for a minute but then when getting into a Server, SRS starts up and then I get booted from the Server back to DCS GUI. Then if I go back into the server without SRS I get the same Error again "Pure Client Required". Then it tells me a different set of files aren't compatible OR something like that. It seems like a silly issue to get from a Complete Fresh Install with ALL Updates and having run Repair Multiple Times. There has to be a reasonable solution to prevent this issue. I do NOT have any Mods. Only Stock DCS OB with Updates. PLEASE ... Someone tell me how to resolve this issue once and for all.

Can't Save Custom Default Snap Views AGAIN
SnowTiger replied to SnowTiger's topic in Controller & Assignment Bugs
Hello Sprool While I haven't flown in DCS in almost a full year now (and now have problems with my PC making it impossible to do so) I was informed that sometimes when Mission Authors save their missions (for multiplayer) that they are inadvertently also saving THEIR Snap Views or Default Views which take precedence over your settings when in those missions. Every time you start in a new cockpit in those missions, you have to reset or resave your own settings ... only to lose them again the next time you spawn. It is truly annoying and frustrating. It is just one of the many things that ultimately made me leave DCS when I did. Of course I have no idea if this is the case for you but you may wish to try creating your own simple mission and see if the problem remains. I'm not sure that will help any but it might help identify the source of the problem. On the other hand, this also happened following MANY updates and had nothing to do with missions, as I discovered while flying in my own missions. -

Having Serious Graphic Issues with New Install
SnowTiger replied to SnowTiger's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
chrisgrind > The icons don't return and that's it. They continue to move up/down up/down up/down up/down up/down up/down ... do you get it now ? It goes on continuously when DCS is open. If I manage to minimize DCS (no easy task on a good day), I can see the icons moving up/down up/down up/down up/down. And because this continues when DCS is open, even though I cannot see them moving, I know they are because at the same frequency, the mouse cursor is jumping back to the center of the screen (or in this case DCS GUI). I have to be extremely fast and accurate to click on ANYTHING without the F'ing cursor bouncing back to center point. And if I'm really lucky, I'll have clicked on what I was aiming for. BitMaster - Thanks for the suggestion but I think I'll just wait until I can afford a reliably skilled technician to locate the issue. I have ZERO Desire to create Users. That is IMO one of the WORST things you can do with your computer but I won't get into why ... just know that I have experience with that. I haven't flown DCS in MANY MONTHS and really don't care any more whether I ever do even though I wasted more money to get the F-16 while it was on sale. I know if I wait another 5 years, chances are it'll still be Fubar. THANKS FOR ALL THE REPLIES AND SUGGESTIONS I think this is an issue with something to do with my System Setup as opposed to DCS or Steam .. but who knows. I have operated, built, repaired and cleaned (system) PC's since 1990 and this one is just simply beyond my skills. Whatever it is, is anything but obvious. I simply haven't had any interest in keeping up with developments in the PC World of Technology and tired of fixing everyone else's broken and corrupted systems over the decades. I'll find a good technician like I had over recent years until he decided to up and retire :( -
I dealt with the "stick movement" by adjusting the Saturation. Everyone keeps comparing the Gazelles Cyclic with other helicopters and in my opinion that is mistake. Not all helicopters require 8" to 12" of stick deflection. I recommend that people interested in the Gazelle should watch the series called "Flying Soldiers" about British Soldiers learning to fly the Gazelle (in the real world). Episodes 2 and 3 especially show a lot of footage during which you can see the deflection of the stick rarely ever exceeds or even gets close to an Inch from Center Point. In fact, it's likely closer to half that for normal flight. It is a very fine-controlled Cyclic. There is no need to throw the stick all over the place even during erratic flight. The implementation of the Gazelle in DCS may well not be that realistic with regards to the flight model, but please take a look at episodes 2 and 3 of Flying Soldiers and you will see that the Cyclic barely moves during most flight. It's Not a Huey.

Having Serious Graphic Issues with New Install
SnowTiger replied to SnowTiger's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks for the replies. Firstly, I am 100% Confident that my issue is NOT the result of any viruses. @Rudel_chw I did go through the "Clean Up Windows 10" tips shown in the video just this morning. I just tried DCS and it STILL does exactly the same thing. It appears that the Desktop Background Image stays still (as it should) but ALL of my Desktop Icons move in unison .. they move down maybe an inch and then move back up to where they started. They continue to move Up/Down and while starting DCS GUI. Once in DCS it's all I can do to Click on Anything fast enough before my mouse cursor jumps back to a center point. There is no sense in me even trying to set anything up. However I did make sure that the Screen Resolution in DCS matched my Desktop Monitor Settings (1920x1080). So I still have Zero Idea what could be causing this issue. As previously stated, this issue arises ONLY when I run DCS or if/when I run Steam (which is NEVER at the same time). This problem effectively makes both programs useless/unusable. I wish I could figure it out without having to spend $$ that I don't have and a 1 hour drive each way to get a Technician to look at it (and hopefully fix it). @canadianbaken It is a fresh install of both Win10 and DCS. I have yet to change ANY settings in DCS simply because I cannot keep my mouse cursor on anything long enough to click on it. As such, there are either No Key Bindings or at least NONE set up by me for any of my Peripherals. @chrisgrind The desktop icons move ONLY when I execute DCS or Steam (the latter of which I don't give a shit about at this moment ... DCS is my ONLY Concern). The icons move down about an inch (all of them at the same time) and then move back up to their start point. Once DCS GUI is up I cannot see the icons any more (of course) but whatever is causing them to move appears to be affecting my mouse. That said, I did in fact, purchase a New Mouse (wired as mine have all been) and it continues to do the same thing as the one I tossed across the room :) There are no unrecognized devices and no warning icons beside those that are listed. I frigged with the mouse for a while, including making sure generic drivers were uninstalled and specific drivers installed (makes no difference) AND this issue happens ONLY with DCS and/or Steam ... which again are never running at the same time. I don't have the Steam Version of DCS. All my drivers are software specific and up-to-date. Nope ... this is a really strange Pain in the Ass that I simply cannot figure out and I'm too far out of the loop to dive into the Bios Settings any more. I haven't kept up with PC Technology for about 10+ years. I have enough experience to do most things (I've been using PC's every single day since 1990 including DOS etc and before a Mouse was a thing except for AutoCAD) but not enough to go mucking around in the Bios. That said, I am confident that the current Chipset Drivers are correct and up-to-date (I did check). If they weren't, it is fairly easy to Flash this system thanks to the way it's designed. EDIT: I figured I'd upload a current (today) CPUID - CPU-Z text file that might provide details or information that someone might need to figure this out. I don't know that it provides that type of information but it does provide Specs. DESKTOP-055H67K.txt -
Having Serious Graphic Issues with New Install
SnowTiger replied to SnowTiger's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
@Rudel_chw Thank you for the reply. I will check that out for sure. I'm not concerned about adware or viral type things. I run a tight ship when it comes to sites I visit and the use of ad-blocking software and AVG Pro. That's not to say it's impossible for anything to slip by those, but I often clean out or thin out cookies and blacklist unknown urls etc. But I'm not opposed to running another program to see if anything is missed. I have little to lose at this point (other than everything else runs flawlessly now). Thanks again and I'll let you know how I make out from following your suggestions. -
Something happened to my system last December that made my Win10 system unable to reboot. As such, a Complete Reinstall (fresh) was done at Staples on my M2 Drive. I have since reinstalled DCS World "Open Beta" and all of My Modules (none of the free test modules). Ever since installing, and ONLY when I start DCS or STEAM (Steam seems related although I Do NOT have the Steam Version of DCS), my Desktop Icons all move Up and Down in a flickering type motion. Furthermore, when either of these programs are running (never at the same time) the Mouse is acting useless. If I don't hover over a button and click fast, the mouse jumps back to center of my screen. It is super annoying and I have No Idea what to do to fix it. Please Help. My Computer Repair Days are long since passed but I can understand instructions. I'm very rusty with New Systems. Ryzen 7 2700 4.1Ghz (10% Overclock) 16 GB Ram 64 bit Win10 Home NVidia GeForce GTX 1060 6GB with Latest Update Drivers 1920 x 1080 on 27" Monitor (flat screen) 60GHz I have NO IDEA what if anything Staples might have done in the BIOS etc and I am way too out-of-date to go farting around in there myself without having some clues as to what to look for first. PLEASE HELP.

I Need Advice re: Installing DCS to SSD
SnowTiger replied to SnowTiger's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
BTW - Obviously, it has been a while since my last post re: Uninstalling DCS. I have since had to reinstall everything because Win10 puked. There was no other option because PC would not boot. Still after complete system reinstall, my system is not working properly and I cannot afford to have anyone tune it better. I waited 3 months to reinstall DCS. But it has been 8 months since I flew anything. I'm in no hurry while so many modules are still incomplete. I can do without additional frustrations in my life so I'm in no hurry but I will be back once I can improve my system's performance with a few tweaks and modules have improved. -
I Need Advice re: Installing DCS to SSD
SnowTiger replied to SnowTiger's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hi salsantana. I too have ADHD (adult residual type !! :) ). I completely reinstalled DCS to an SSD and ultimately to an M2 drive. Both are Much Faster however, I couldn't tell you what percent of improvement. All I can say is it was sufficient enough to warrant the expense. You will NOT be disappointed. But there are some folders/files etc that you can simply cut or copy and paste into the new install on SSD from your old drive. Be sure to keep old install on old drive until new install is completely set up. I also resisted moving to Win10 until I purchased a new Motherboard and Processor etc that was capable of taking the Newer Video Cards. Then the advantage of Win10 is the higher DirectX files which provide some extra visual effects and performance. That's about all I can say this early the day. -
I think you are missing BigDawgCleveland's point. I think all he's suggesting is having the assets Sorted makes them much easier to find. It would not prevent different era aircraft from flying with or against each other. It simply makes each of them easier to find without having to go through a giant list of things that were NOT used at the same time. Sorted by Country and then by Era/Year would make the ME that much easier to use regardless the type of mission desired. At least that's my impression of his point.
