  1. Thank you for the reply and for verifying what I was thinking. I was kind of going nuts trying to figure out why I couldn't find that map in the Mission Editor. After going through all of DCS' terrains, I happened to notice a screenshot of Abu Dhabi in the Persian Gulf map which pretty much confirmed that something had changed. It's important to me because A) It's an awesome terrain and B) Because one of my most famous 3D Models is used on this Map/Terrain (which can still be seen in Google Earth Pro - Legacy Buildings) and that is the model of Ferrari World - Abu Dhabi which I created for Google Earth. It was a very difficult shape to model. Many have tried and failed. Sadly, for some unknown reason, the model is no longer visible in what used to be called the Google 3D Warehouse (3DWH) because it "disappeared" around the time the Straight of Hormuz map was released and yet all of my other models still remain there !! Anyway, sorry for the long blab. Thank you kindly for the confirmation reply. Much Appreciated.
  2. I have been away from DCS for several years. I started flying again recently and then purchased the Quest 3 and a Data Cable. I have done some flying with minimal issues but I could use some help tweaking things for better clarity (especially in the cockpit). There are few other VR related things I could use some help with too to make my transition smoother such as Hand Controllers or Not ? Zoom Function. Hotas setup with VR related things that might be necessary ? I do have a Good PC System (specs below) so I'm hoping somebody with a "Quest 3 and with Similar PC Specs" might be willing to be HIRED to spend an hour or two online with me some afternoon later this week possibly (or whenever). If anyone that fits that requirement is available, I'd be grateful for you time. Please PM me with best time (time zone) and days when we could connect and an indication on Fees. Thanks in Advance.
  3. I have been away from DCS for quite some time so it might be just my poor memory or it might be the decades of substance abuse .. I don't know which but didn't the Persian Gulf Map used to be called the Straight of Hormuz Map ? Have I missed something ?
  4. Thank you. Meanwhile, I did reconnect the Cable today and was able to successfully Link and the cable tested fine. Nothing wanted to work correctly yesterday. Today, I ran the test without any peripherals connected (ie No HOTAS) and went into SP Mission in DCS just to see if the Controller worked properly. Yesterday, there was a significant delay. Now it doesn't seem to be an issue. So now I'm going to start over with my HOTAS connected and hope for the best. IF I run into further issues, I will start a new thread. Thanks again.
  5. I actually sent the Meta Cable back because it's expensive and a couple people suggested getting a cheaper alternative. This is the one I purchased which I believe to be good but have no way to tell. https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0BRQMFDQ3?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1 I didn't have much success with the cable so I connected in DCS with AirLink only (no cable). PS> I have no idea how to Test the Cable in the Meta App. PPSS> I'm a little confused between the App on my Phone versus the App on my PC. I don't even know why I need it on my phone ?
  6. I guess my remaining question is whether there is a dedicated Thread in ED Forums for using Meta Quest 3 (or Meta) in DCS ? I tried a few things this weekend and couldn't fly effectively. I tried connecting with the cable .. that was a S**T Show so I went o'naturale via AirLink but even that was terrible. Even after following Settings offered by one person who replied to this thread (thank you) the Sim was 80% unflyable for 2 main reasons. One is that the screen was shaking violently at times, mostly when DCS was loading .. and even then I wasn't sure if I needed to load DCS from withing Quest 3 OR from my Desktop ? It seemed to require a bit of both. And when I did get in to a cockpit, it was almost impossible to accurately click on or select anything whether I used a Controller (my preference) or my Mouse. I think most of that was because of a serious Delay. That same delay made flying dangerous because all of my actions within the cockpit (stick, rudder, throttles) was also subject to a Delayed Response of about 1 to 2 seconds lag. SO .. I don't know if I need to start a New Thread or if there is a Quest Dedicated Thread or continue trying to get help from within this Thread ?
  7. Thank you for the detailed information about the Somnium. I did end up getting the Quest 3 which will likely suffice for now .. otherwise I'll give it to my grandson and purchase a Somnium but I'm hoping I can get a couple years of satisfactory use out of the Quest 3 first. Thanks again for the information.
  8. Hi evanswillo - I already purchased the Quest 3. If I live another couple years, I'll certainly consider taking the next leap. I appreciate your offer to answer Somnium-related questions.
  9. Are these easily found and downloaded programs ? Are they on Meta Website or will a Google Search easily locate them ? I may have already looked by the time you reply but even if I do, it might be helpful to others in the future. Thanks again.
  10. Thanks for the replies. They are very helpful. I will go ahead and purchase a Quest 3 with the AMVR v2 cable and maybe even an add-on head strap if need be. At the very least, it will hold me over until high-end VR headsets come down in price a bit (if I live that long ?). BTW - In an answer to Phantom711, the point I was/am trying to make is that I chose a processor and graphics card (etc) specifically with VR in mind. I had hoped to utilize the graphics card to run a High-Resolution VR Headset without having to sacrifice anything (ie. great graphics, great refresh rate, all the bells and whistles with little to no sacrifice). Instead I am settling for "the next best thing" for a reasonable price. Anything is better than having to deal with Poomax's Incompetence. Thanks again for each of your replies.
  11. I have/had a Reverb G2. It was great. Sadly I only used it a couple times because of being away from DCS for a long break and now the G2 is a Paper Weight. I got jerked around for a few months with Poomax so I won't be doing that again. Totally incompetent company. So now I'm left with either a $5000+ CAD or $6000+ CAD Somnium Titan or Ultimate Edition OR Quest 3 (512 GB). I don't expect miracles from the Quest 3 BUT I am wondering if the Cockpit Gauges will be clearly visible ? I'm hoping someone who already has this headset can inform me regarding this question. I'm not happy about Battery Operated crap but at least I know I can use a Cable to charge while playing. The real downside is that I have a smokin' PC including a GTX 4090 Gaming Trio and all of that goes to waste using the Quest 3. Am I going to be at least reasonably happy with the graphics or should I just splurge and buy a Somnium and quite dilly-dallying about it ? Anyone here have experience with either the Titon or Ultimate Edition ? Should I choose one over the other for any specific reasons ? PS> I'm 63 years old and not in great health. I suspect this will be my last big purchase to enjoy DCS while I can but potentially $6000+ (Canadian) is nothing to sneeze at. I need all the advice I can get. Please and Thanks in Advance. PPSS> I forgot that I had replied to another post with similar questions but I have expanded my query to include expensive options. I really need some help with this important decision.
  12. Pardon my ignorance because I have been away from DCS for a few years by which time my Reverb G2 become a paper weight and I only ever used it twice. So now I am in the market for a replacement. I just went through a couple months of NIGHTMARE dealing Poomax's busted Crystal Light and Terrible Tech Support. I won't do that again. Really, there are only two choices remaining for me. The Somnium VR1, Titan or Ultimate Edition (the latter is a tad over $5k Canadian) OR a Quest 3 which is dirt cheap by comparison but it is only Battery Operated (i.e. Cordless) which I despise. This "AMVR v2 link cable" you refer to is merely a Charging Cable for the headset right ? Sadly, I built a PC specifically for VR and think it would be a crime to use a Cordless Headset when I have ample processing + a GTX 4090 Gaming Trio. Seems like an awful waste of processing but I'd settle for it as long as I can clearly read all of the cockpit instruments clearly ? Of those here who have been on DCS for years and who use VR, I'm curious if I should shell out $5k or just wait another year (when I'll be almost 65) to see what's available ? It really is too bad that Poomax is run by completely incompetent fools. I really had my heart set on the Xtal Light !
  13. I guess I've got my foot in my mouth again. My VR Headset was shipped at the last minute and actually arrived yesterday ... as promised. And while I didn't get a couple add-ons that where supposed to have been shipped days earlier (when I expected everything would all be in one shipment), I'm happy that the headset arrived so that I can enjoy it through the holiday assuming I can get it working well in DCS today. I still contend that Pimax support blows. I'm sure they'll get their act together someday (if they hope to remain in business) but I definitely could have done with far less stress and confusion. But for now, I have to give credit where it's due and Pimax deserves at least that.
  14. I hear you friend. Definitely keep on with your G2 as long as you can. It's a great VR headset IMO. Sadly, I barely got to use mine because I was away from DCS for so long. I also agree that there really aren't any suitable alternatives to Pimax in the same price point. Furthermore, while Pimax Customer Support/Communications really blows and is confusing at best, I have to admit, my Headset actually did show up yesterday as originally promised. I didn't get a couple add-ons (Foam and Alt. Head strap). They are in Courier Limbo somewhere but that's okay. I might not need them. And at least now I have something to attach the Upgrade Earphones to !
  15. I hope the issue is quickly and easily resolved. I just got my Pimax Crystal Light yesterday and hope (or hoped) to set it up in DCS today. External FPS issues won't make that task any easier.
  16. I purchased a Pimax Crystal Light on Nov. 17th after being informed that I WOULD have my headset BEFORE Xmas. I paid in Full because I don't want to deal with monthly payments and I don't want ANY external factors preventing my hardware from working (like a lousy connection to Pimax or however their likely-crappy software works). I've been getting jerked around from the get-go. And of course, Pimax doesn't list ANY Phone Numbers. You can correspond via Online Chat "almost real time" but that is ONLY for Sales. Once they have your money, you must submit a Ticket and Wait .. and wait and wait only to get some BS from somebody that can barely read or write in English. Here it is, Dec. 23rd and there is no sign of my headset. PIMAX is the most incompetent and frustrating company I have EVER dealt with in my 63 years, and I have dealt with some doozies. I have demanded cancellation and a Full Refund for the last 2 weeks and I've still not received payment. I even got a notice from UPS on Friday saying a Tracking number has been created but UPS hasn't picked up the parcel yet. It's not the VR Headset. It's a Foam Insert and additional Head Strap which I can't use without the VR Headset. Heck, I already received the Premium Earphones 2 weeks ago and I purchased them almost 3 weeks after paying for the Headset. It seems that nobody at Pimax knows what they are doing and they definitely do not give a damn about anyone especially once they have already received your money. Thanks to Pimax, I have Nothing to put under the tree for my Grandson and I to enjoy DCS with (especially now that my HP Reverb G2 is no more than an expensive Paper Weight). These VR Companies are real "fly-by-night" outfits and a risky investment it seems. Speaking of the G2, it's too bad some smart developer couldn't create their own version of Windows Mixed Reality or whatever, allowing the G2 to Continue to Shine ? Anyway, my advice to everyone is ... Move On to ANYTHING ELSE but PIMAX. If you have any issues at all, you will be months trying to rectify it and will likely get jacked around from the start.
  17. I just took another look. I guess the HOME Tab is the Game Tab now. Oddly, the dang game Icons/Images don't even fit across the page. I have to admit, I do NOT like the new GUI. I wish they just left it the heck alone but I'm sure I'll get over it. Thanks for the replies.
  18. Was there a choice ? It seems to me that the new "app" uninstalled and replaced Experience altogether. It doesn't even have a Game Tab any more.
  19. Would a Twist-Grip-type Stick be a good solution for you ? There are several stick manufacturers that have that option however, helicopters can be a trick to fly using them versus pedals (apparently which are an issue for you) but some people do fly choppers with them.
  20. Okay. That seems simple enough. Thank you very much for your time and assistance. I'll give it try. Have a great day. PS> I will reply with my results as soon as I get it done and can confirm success.
  21. I appreciate the replies. However, I am still a bit confused. I can understand that Updates and Repairs may well eliminate custom files and I would like to avoid that but for example, the Christen Eagle II does not even have a folder in Bazaar/Liveries. I could only find it in "mods/aircraft". That said, I like the idea of my custom skins being in Saved Games however, there is No Folder called Liveries in my Saved Games Folder. Do I create a Liveries Folder there ? And are each of the folders you show in your attached image, all custom liveries OR did you copy each of the DCS Bazaar/Liveries folders to put in Saved Games and only added custom skins to those modules you want when you want ? I apologize is that is a bit confusing they way I wrote it.
  22. Hello y'all. I have been away from DCS for almost 4 full years and only now getting back into it. I had several Custom Skins for the P-51, TF-51 and the Christen Eagle II. I recall saving Custom Skins or Liveries in Bazaar/Liveries/ "Specific Aircraft" however I did not see the CE-2 there. I found it in Mods/Aircraft/Christen Eagle II which has it's own Liveries and Textures Folders. In fact, Mods/Aircraft has folders for each of the Aircraft Modules. SO now I'm confused whether I am supposed to put the Custom Skins/Liveries in DCS Open Beta Bazaar/Liveries OR in Mods/Aircraft/Liveries or wherever ? Maybe Both Locations ? Can someone please straiten me out on this matter. I'd greatly appreciate it especially if I can get a fast, accurate reply while I can still find the Custom Skin Folders that I seem to have hidden on a backup drive (new computer). Please Help ! Thanks in Advance
  23. Excellent Thread. This is the information I wanted to see. A consensus in this case in favor of Win11 (fresh install). This is great news because I'm going to Click "PAY" on a pile of components to build a new PC and was having great difficulty trying to decide whether to stick with Win10 or bite the bullet and install Win11. I'd hate to miss out on potential future Video Enhancements that are only available with Win11 especially when the video card is by far the biggest expense of this new PC build. But it's all got to work. As long as it looks, feels and works like Win10 (and Win7) I'll be happy with it. Of course, I'll want all my stuff to work well there's never any guarantees of that.
  24. Thanks for the reply. I couldn't help but to think that the 4080 has to be faster regardless of price, I just wasn't sure what the other post was saying. That said, the specific card I'm looking at is just over $3k Canadian and is Not Water Cooled. That amounts to half of the price I'm paying for top-end PC Parts to build my new machine (specifically for DCS which I have not even clicked on in over 3 years now). MSI Gaming (MSI) GeForce RTX 4090 24GB GDDR6X PCI Express 4.0 Video Card RTX 4090 GAMING X TRIO 24G Looks like a great card and should work well with my HP Reverb G2 which I just received yesterday. I plan on getting the AMD Ryzen 9 7900X - 12-Core 4.7 GHz - Socket AM5 - 170W Desktop Processor (100-100000589WOF) WATER COOLED and > GIGABYTE B650E AORUS MASTER AM5 LGA 1718 AMD B650 ATX Motherboard DDR5, Quad M.2, PCIe 5.0, USB 3.2 Gen2X2 Type-C, AMD WiFi 6E, Intel 2.5GbE LAN, Q-Flash Plus, EZ-Latch Plus with 64 gb RAM Among other things including a better refresh rate Monitor and a new Chair and some goodies for mounting my VKB Gunfighter MkII and Warthog Throttle. I just have to make sure everything matches up to each other and confirm it'll perform as needed. If any of you folks see anything in this list that makes you scratch your head or where you think I can do better (quality ... price isn't really an issue ... for the first time in my life), please speak up. I do prefer AMD over Intel although I have no idea if the Processor has the New architecture or not. I am currently using the Ryzen 7 - 7200 and have had Zero issues with it or anything else on my system but it is not good enough with a 1060 video card and it's all about 7 years old. Time for a new (and likely my last) smokin' flying machine.
  25. Sorry ... I'm late to the discussion but interested in purchasing a new GPU along with Everything Else within the next couple weeks (max). I will be shopping on Newegg.ca I just purchased the HP Reverb G2 headset and want to get the best bang for my $$. I'm just trying to discern whether you are saying that the 3080 is better than the 4080 or visa versa ? Thanks in Advance. PS> Does anyone use Water Cooled GPU's ?
