Does Mission Creation Require LAU Scripting Skills ?
SnowTiger replied to SnowTiger's topic in Mission Editor
I apologize to everyone. After all the reading I have done in the ED Forums and the Manual and having already played with the ME a couple times, I have NOW found the Troop Placement command in the ME under Vehicle Group. I would have never thought to look there, even though I have previously placed vehicles. But other questions asked could still be answered if anyone is up to it. Sorry about the misunderstanding re: Troops. -
Does Mission Creation Require LAU Scripting Skills ?
SnowTiger replied to SnowTiger's topic in Mission Editor
PS> I should mention that the mission I am trying to create (mentioned above) is a Single Player HUEY mission. -
I am trying to create what I believe to be a relatively simple mission (at least the mission goals should be simple). The mission involves picking up and dropping off troops that will fight enemy ground troops, but I cannot for the life of me, figure out how to place troops (i.e. enemy troops lying in wait at the Dam). I cannot find any Static Object OR whatever Troops are defined as, to place anywhere. There is also the need to pick up and drop off a Cargo within a specified period of time in a specific location. I don't want to say much more that will give the Mission Plot away ... yet. I have read a TON of threads and still don't know how to place a group of ground troops anywhere. But also, after looking at the ME... re: creating conditions etc which appear to use pre-defined terms and stuff, I am wondering if it is necessary to learn LAU language and scripting in order to create good missions OR is it sort of like using NotePad to create a webpage instead of using WYSIWYG webpage creation ? That is to say, for some it's just easier to use Scripting INSTEAD of using the ME to create dynamic missions ? Finally, IF it wasn't going to cost too much $$ (because I am on a fixed low income disability pension), I'd consider paying someone to create the mission or at least provide me with some lessons (online) to help me do it myself. I think as long as I had some Live Help and got to see the process to begin with, I would find it easier to get through the learning curve. But right now I can't even figure out how to put Red Team (enemy) Troops at the dam that my friendly troops can attack (if and when I figure out how to pick them up and get them there !!). So I'm wondering if I am in over my head before I even get started ? Anyway, if anyone can figure out what I'm asking here or any part of it, please fill me in. Thanks in Advance.

Thanks Blooze That narrows it down nicely. Oddly, the last time I looked for the dam, I flew all over GH43 but not 44 !! Doh ! Thanks again to both SFC Tako and Blooze. EDIT >> PS> I will post a link to the final Huey (and maybe Mi-8) Mission as soon as it's ready. .... that is assuming I can create the mission I have in mind. ?

Cool. Thank you kindly. I recall it's not too far from an airfield. Many starting locations to choose from when I didn't know where start though. Thanks again.

I know there is at least 1 Hydro Dam and Reservoir somewhere on this map but I'll be damned if I can find it (get it ? Damn Dam !!!).. sorry. I have flown over a dam a few times but I can't for the life of me find it now that I want it for a mission. Can someone please provide me with Coordinates or better yet the Grid # that the dam is in ? Thanks in Advance. Sorry for such a lame question and reason for a New Thread. PS> I read in one of my many failed search attempts about the Ula-Sala Power Generating Station or Dam or Reservoir (or all ?). Is this the only one ? Where is it ?

Anyone using Avionic Headset ?
SnowTiger replied to SnowTiger's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I guess you are right. I just looked up the HGU 55. VERY COOL. I'd dig wearing that for sure. Thx again. -
Anyone using Avionic Headset ?
SnowTiger replied to SnowTiger's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thank you both for your replies and accompanying URL's. maikchaos >> Your link is exactly the idea I am thinking about. I never thought it would be that easy. Lobinjaevel >> The link/product you provided is even more specifically what I need and am looking for. Though I am a bit surprised of the cost for this solution, I will definitely be checking this companies products out closely. Thanks again to both. PS> Do either of you use Avionic Headsets ? Does anyone suggest I should stick with my current run-of-the-mill headset/mic because of sound quality or anything like that ? -
My father was a private pilot who owned his own Cessna 172. Unfortunately he passed away in 2010. I now have all his flight gear including his "SoftComm C-40 Pro-Am Stereo Headset". As normal, this headset comes with Stereo Jacks (like the 1/4" jacks used for an Electric Guitar or your old stereo headphones). As noted at the above-provided URL, the headset comes with PJ-068 and PJ-055B stereo plugs (jacks). "IF POSSIBLE", I would love to increase my Sim experience reality just a wee bit using these. SO ....>>>>>> I was wondering if anyone else has and uses this type of headset/headphone and mic setup with DCS ? If so, what type of Adapter do I need to change this to USB connector ?

I have flown and enjoyed the original version of this mission many times. I continue to fly it often even though the Cargo Lift doesn't pay out. I have since downloaded and tried this revised mission. BUT .... I'm having difficulties with the ADF Radio Frequency in the Huey. I have set radio to the correct frequency as shown in the image posted by Chichco (post #66) and I do get the correct Freq Tone however, the needles on the Course Deviation Indicator don't seem to do ANYTHING now (whereas when we used Channel/Freq 49.00 on the AN/ARC-131 FM Radio Set, the Course Deviation Indicator worked fine). As such, I can't find any of the stolen vehicles now. Can someone please tell me with what I am doing wrong i.e. why the Course Deviation Indicator no longer directs me to the stolen vehicles ??

Thanks for all the replies. It would be nice if there were a way to just sit over the map and FF the time to be able to watch for a train (without having to wait too long). Maybe there is (F11 ?). I'll figure that out. I just might have to do as suggested, find trains that I have seen and move my mission area to that region instead of hoping for one where I chose. Thanks again y'all.

While I am not knew to DCS, I am new to Mission Creation. I have made only a couple very simple/basic missions to learn to fly different aircraft/mods only. I am currently trying to work on a mission who's Plot is all in the air right now because it in part, relies on the ability to get a Train to show up on a specific rail line in a general vicinity of where I want my mission to take place. I have selected a specific region because there is a fairly lengthy stretch of railway which is unique in that it is windy and crosses many bridges etc. But I have flown the whole stretch a few times and have not seen a single train on the line (only at rail yards and sidings). My question is specifically regarding Trains. Can I somehow get a train to be on a specific stretch of track at a specific time ? Are trains even something we have ANY control over .... for example like civilian traffic ? What if any control might we have with regards to trains ? Thanks in Advance.

Friday Aug 14 @ 12:20 PM Logged into server for first time in few days. FYI Admins >> Server on new mission (T-55 tanks headed for our oil fields). It is stuck on this mission for 13+ Hours. The server also has an unusually high Ping (133 for me is high).

Yes. Exactly as BIGNEWY has described in the post prior to your last post. TCP 10308 & UDP 10308

I wonder if this issue will ever be addressed ? I actually stopped flying the BlackShark just because this issue drives me nuts. It's often hard enough to stay alive while dealing with the enemy during the heat of battle, without the Shkval going all wonky !! This has gotten me killed many times (too many times). So as much as I love the Ka-50, I just don't enjoy it when it keeps getting me killed for things that "I" am not doing. It's bad enough my own silly mistakes get me killed without this adding this gasoline to the fire. ~!!

It looks to me that Sunday was a great success. While I was unable to join in (other responsibilities) during the afternoon, I could see that there were several people online. I did get logged in around 4PM (EST) and stayed on until 9PM. We had a great time last night flying in a couple new missions and one or two not-so-new, but all were a blast. I trust everyone had a great time and will pass the message on to others while patiently waiting for the next opportunity to furball. PS> The only complaint (if you can call it that ?) is that there weren't more 109/190 pilots. Of course, that didn't bother me one bit .... snicker !! Let's do it again soon feller's (and Ladies .. not sure there are many out there but I'm sure ALL are welcome).

Looks like we "might be" stuck on Itsy Bitsy again. I just logged in to MP and see that mission has been playing for 5:19:46 (at this moment .. 7:50PM Eastern Time). Never Mind ... Doesn't seem to be having any adverse affect. Might turn over in a few mins actually !!

Shahdoh's Mustang Racing Series - Rules and Registration
SnowTiger replied to Shahdoh's topic in Community News
Hi @masna Your Livery File (download location) states "Skins go into your "Bazar\Liveries\P-51D" folder". FYI ..For the races, this file/folder must be placed in the "Bazar\Liveries\TF-51D" folder in order for us to see your custom skin during the race because we race using the TF-51D. See you on the starting line !! -
Absolutely Classic !

Now if it's possible to purchase a Poster with that graphic ... I want one !

PS SeaQuark ... Excellent Video. Great Sortie.

Yes I second that. I have been trying to find him on here and on the server for a while without success. It would be great to make contact and see him on the server again soon. NetMAN you are welcome to PM me here any time my friend.

I'm not in a position to say whether or not Squadron Membership is still open (because I simply do not know), but I can say you ARE welcome to sign up and sign in to DoW Website and Forum to stay up-to-date with current and future DoW Events etc. One never knows what the future may bring but certainly a growth in interest in DoW could affect the frequency and scope of events.
