I prefer Cold Starts on the Tarmac. And I don't mind having a few A.I. planes/pilots to fight. Maybe ..(IF Possible) the number of them could be determined by the number of Live Pilots Online ... i.e. if 12 people are online, we probably don't need any A.I. I have always been an advocate for showing OUR Plane Only on the F10 Map. I feel that ANY and ALL PILOTS MUST be able to Navigate in order to obtain their license (amongst tons of other skills of course). As such, a pilot should be able to determine their own location at any given time. Besides, we do have a Kneeboard upon which we can see our current location & direction. So why not on the F10 Map which is much more functional for zooming in etc (which can be very useful). Whether or not the F10 Map should show anything else is up to y'all. If it showed ONLY those enemy that the individual has seen (and no one else), it "could" include those locations but only for those that have discovered the enemy positions ... say from some minimal distance/elevation ???!!! Finally, I think it should be Mandatory that Everyone on the Server MUST use TeamSpeak (unless they provide technical reasons why they are unable to).

A great video to get the juices flowing.

I'm currently drawing a blank with exception of "Frog of War". There were others that haven't been in the server list for a while that I cannot name. It is truly unfortunate DoW Server had to be packed in.

This is truly disappointing news, although I understand where you are coming from. I for one, definitely appreciate the amount of effort several of you regularly put into maintaining the server and creating/updating missions etc. For the above reasons and because of the class of people I regularly meet online, I have deemed this group to be well worth the donations I have provided .... as pitiful as they may have been in the big picture of things. I will continue to donate as long as there is a server/group and hope to remain a DoW Squadron Member as long as permitted. It is unfortunate that more people haven't taken advantage of the server time. I often find myself alone on the server or with only one or two others, few of which are ever on TS. However I often see several DoW Members online during the Later Evening Hours when I am unfortunately, usually too sore to participate. But I try to overcome that on weekends as much as possible. Maybe it hasn't been enough ... I don't know ? But regardless what complaints I have had about the Mustang, I have ZERO complaints about Dow Servers, Missions and most importantly the Members. For that matter, I have met many others that are not currently members, that I would love to see become members because they are really great people to fly with (for example but only partially named .....Quark .... ahem "MAN" !! LOL). Anyway, it is unfortunate that so many Servers go down because of a lack of support. A lack of regular users and as least as important a lack of donations. I have tried to promote the latter as much as possible and as nonchalantly as possible. Unfortunately it obviously hasn't been enough or has been too little too late. Thanks to everyone who has ever done anything to maintain the site and missions etc. Hold your heads up knowing you HAVE done an excellent job and I DO understand why you have come to the decision you have. That said, I hope the DoW Squadron will remain together and I'm sure we'll find lots we can continue to do together and maybe compete against others. Finally, I will do my darn'dest to hook up with y'all more frequently at the later hours when the majority of you are online.

Actually, I have managed to get P-51 back almost to where I like but TF-51 isn't working amongst others. -
Reworked Cockpit Views with proper Neck
SnowTiger replied to PeterP's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I didn't find it hard to find the instructions at all because I DO read manuals and tons of threads/posts. The problem for me is the views Will NOT Save. I have followed these simple instructions to the Letter .... DOZENS OF TIMES. And yet every single time I climb in a bird, I am forced to go through it all over again. Now I have deleted the VIEW Folder from my saved games/DCS/config folder many times. As expected, a new view folder/files is created each time. I am starting to wonder if I don't also need to delete the corresponding (same name) files etc from the Main DCS World directory before any of this will take ? BTW - I have tried the above with TrackIR Paused (since that is the only way to make the seat adjustments anyway) BUT I have also tried doing it while TIR is NOT even loaded. That is .... I don't even start TIR before I go into DCS. STILL no luck. I have tried ALL the methods in Single Player as well as Multi-Player (thinking THAT might have an affect ..... NOPE). So either something has changed with the way DCS works since these instructions were created OR my installation is euchred and I simply need to reinstall everything AGAIN ... which will be a giant P Off. Can anyone tell me what if anything the Main Directory View Files do (C:/Program Files/Eagle Dynamics/DCS World/Config/View ... FILES) ? I know I probably can cut/copy and save them elsewhere while I experiment but I don't want to screw even more up. Can I delete them without creating even more problems ? Might this be part of the solution ? Is anyone else finding the above instruction No Longer Work ? -

SnowTiger replied to Shahdoh's topic in Community News
Thanks Shahdoh. Now I wish I held off so I could try for a better time today. But oh well. With any luck there will be a slot for me still. We'll soon see I guess. Have a great day y'all. -

SnowTiger replied to Shahdoh's topic in Community News
Ahhhhh SHYTE Please tell me this has been submitted within the required timeline ? This GMT thing confuses my wee brain. From the Conversion Chart I was just looking at (after submitting the time above) it looks like I'm either good until 8pm Saturday Night or the time expired 8pm Friday Night (tonight) !!!?? If my submission is too late this will really suck because I have been working at this ALL DAY with the exception of a couple breaks. Now my brain hurts. -

Reworked Cockpit Views with proper Neck
SnowTiger replied to PeterP's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I'm going to give it another shot again today. But to be sure, it seems to me that I won't be able to make any seat/head adjustments until AFTER I have paused TIR !! Right ? Just the same, for some reason, my RAlt+Num0 just doesn't seem to save anything ... even though that certainly is the correct key combination (which I have never changed and confirm remains the default key combo in Options). -
Reworked Cockpit Views with proper Neck
SnowTiger replied to PeterP's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I did Delete the User/Save Games ... View Folder. I paused my TIR, hit F1, Num5, NumEnter and then set my position. NOTHING !! I do have my TIR Z Axis set to Zoom ... but I have always had it that way (that is, when I lean forward, everything zooms in ... inside and outside the cockpit). Even when I changed the Z axis so that I could use a Scroll Wheel on my Throttle for zoom, it still wouldn't save my custom center position. I'm at a loss. I don't remember having ANY of these issues when setting up views with ANY Mod/Aircraft since I started using DCS. Polaris1, can you please define exactly how I "should" have my TIR outside zooming set ? And is this something that can be set back to the way I like AFTER I finally get the default view set the way I like (if ever !!) ?? Thanks again. -
Reworked Cockpit Views with proper Neck
SnowTiger replied to PeterP's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Thanks Blooze ... I'll give it a shot. One thing I have NOT been doing is hitting F1 before trying to set anything up ... nor have I deleted the entire View Folder (only the files in it). SO I'll give it a try and report back soon. Thanks again. -
Reworked Cockpit Views with proper Neck
SnowTiger replied to PeterP's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Please .. I need help. I tried installing this MOD (re: Shoulder Width) and have ever since been trying to save my Default Position in the aircraft (all aircraft). It doesn't seem to matter what I do, I cannot get back to the Default seating/head position or more importantly, I cannot Save a New/Custom Position. Using the keys as required to move my seat back, down, left/right etc and customizing my FOV is not the problem. The problem is being able to SAVE that position so that when I hit my TrackIR Center button I can return to that custom/default position. Any time I have tried to set and save this position, I have Paused my TrackIR first ... moved as described above then hit RAlt+Num0. However, every single time I get into a new plane (i.e. P-51), I am returned to a position with my face almost up against the cockpit firewall (no .. NOT Zoomed ... just too close). Certainly nothing is being saved. I have since removed the Shoulder Width Files and have tried to restore back to the original state to no avail. BTW - Said modification really played havoc with my Huey Co-Pilot views. But removing the mod has restored that at least. Can someone PLEASE tell me how to Save My Seat/Head Position once and for all ? Thanks in Advance. -
You can wing with me any day Demon. I need to be saved often !

LOL No Kidding. They don't even kiss you first !

Auto Update is reason enough for me to pass on the upgrade. I like to be notified of updates but I want to maintain complete control over when I download and install them.

I think Itsy Bitsy needs to be pulled from the line-up. Not only do I think it's stuck again (although I'm not sure how long it's supposed to be), but twice I have come in when the convoy should be about half way to the mouth of the valley and yet there is nothing to be found but a few burnt vehicles along the path (near where they start). I have flown twice and not seen anything (except AI planes). BTW - Why is it that we can shoot the crap out of an enemy plane but don't get any credit towards a kill when the AI comes up and finishes them off ? Especially when they shoot through me to do it !!! I saw an AI P-51 nearly shoot down 3 friendlies while trying to hit an enemy !! Anyway, until there is a Patch that actually fixes something, I think Itsy Bitsy is going to continue to be problematic. But that's only one man's opinion so far.
-
It's stuck on "Itsy Bitsy" again. The Server Time Stamp says it has been running 11 hours 38 minutes (at 11:36 AM EST).
-
Thanks Dooom. That did the job. I just got done flying 3 hours (from start to finish) in "River Raiders / Killer Bees Edition" for the entire flight all by my lonesome ... until the last few minutes at least. The mission ended as scripted.
-
Thanks to all who replied. It appears that there at least wont be any adverse affects associated with the Windows version upgrade. That is what I am trying to ascertain. It would be great to get a response from ED/DCS too.
-
I hate to point it out, but the Server is stuck on "Itsy Bitsy" again.

How Might WINDOWS 10 affect DCS World/Modules etc ? Like I'm sure many other Windows 7 and 8 users have, I have received a Free "Get Windows 10" Upgrade Offer in my Task Bar/Tray. Here is a LINK to some relevant information. It is a free upgrade to millions who already use Win 7 64 SP1 and Win 8. Those who qualify probably already see the GW 10 (otherwise listed as GWX) icon. This update is supposed to begin July 29th. Anyway, I am always skeptical about Windows Upgrades. I usually wait a full year after a new version release before I bother upgrading. This is to ensure that all my software and hardware is compatible AND I actually like the format (eg: I do NOT like the look or feel of Win 8 so I will never upgrade to that version). But right now I am more concerned with how GWX will affect DCS products ? Is DCS/ED aware of the latest Windows upgrade ? Will the current version of DCS World and/or the up-coming DCS World 2 work in Win10 ? Does anyone know ?

Excellent Thread Ultra Thanks for that link.

On further study ... it appears I got hit more than I thought as can be seen on the left elevator. I still say that's some pretty fluky shooting. But a kill is a kill. Now if only the P-51 could penetrate the 109/190 hides and actually do something without having to unload on it.
-
Oh.. I'm wrong. Turns out there was a couple other holes in the first GBB incident today as can be seen in this screenshot. Pretty Fluky IMO !!
