  1. They appear to be in the main screen just overlaid on the main view window. The MFDs are placed in the lower corners of the main view. He does not have small LCDs for his MFDs. Edit, yup I was too slow.
  2. Better suited for a Helo or other CAS, not fighter jets over 20k.
  3. Did not know you could set a max FPS. I have noticed the same FPS hit with AI planes. Even when just sitting on the tarmac I will see FPS drop from upper 30's to the low teens if I can see any other A/C in my view.
  4. Obviously your GPU is your bottleneck Mower. Its 3 generations old and your CPU is a current Gen quad. ;) Not sure about that theory on testing though. Pretty sure my GPU is always maxed in my games. Then again, I do not play on low settings, instead I set them as high as I can with acceptable FPS. However, if you can only manage 25FPS on high settings, if you change settings to low you may get 45FPS, but will still have a maxed out card. The only way to get a less than 100% GPU usage will be to set a FPS cap that is lower than your GPUs max ability. So, say my card can pump out 100FPS when uncapped. This will be at 100% load as well. So if I turn it down to a 60FPS cap, I may only have a 75% load. No one can play DCS at 100FPS so everyones GPU load will appear maxed out and the bottleneck without a FPS cap. My theory at least. GPU will always be the bottleneck in DCS until they utilize multi core much better.
  5. Wouldnt the 5970 be a better card? Should be quite a bit more powerful than the 6970 since it has dual GPU.
  6. Thanks for the tip. I was planning on having the base of my G940 flush with the sides. So only the buttons would stick up and the throttle lever. So, are you thinking having the throttle sit on the same level as my lower monitor and stick? Right now I play on top of my desk, so anything is lower and better. :) My seat height is just above the lower monitor desktop. The current hole for the throttle is 2.5" above seat height. The hole is 2" below side shelf height. So, not sure how tall my g940 throttle is, but I would say total height is about 8" above seat height. Seems low enough to me sitting in my office chair at work. Armrests are actually 8" above seat height as well so pretty good approximation. Since the sides will be standalone components I could always shorten them after completion as they will not affect the monitor heights. First pit I will be building so I am sure there will be some rework as the build progresses. Need a small shelf on the side to stick the computer on as well.
  7. Going to use up my stack of 2x4s before they get warped. Mounting my throttle in a hole on the left side, placement will be just in front of the seat but exact position is still TBD. I am hoping to use a center stick like Sharkster did. Going to use Helios for my lower touch screen and the upper will be my 22" for now and a larger 32" or bigger when I get some funds. Also hoping to get MFDs with screens as well. Any way here are the pics.
  8. Pfft, In my DCS Ka50 BS I do not even get cracked windows when taking enemy fighter. You will be blind in your Mi28 after your first encounter. :D
  9. Video makes me want a DCS A4 module.
  10. Sweet, looks like there should be enough information for a DCS harrier module. Cant wait.
  11. Not to jack your thread, but do you see any issues with my design? You have built yours so you may have insight I am not thinking of. This is the basic shape. I have a stack of 2x4s in my garage waiting to be put to good use. I have a center pad for the joystick like yours but if its not comfortable I can stick it in a hole in the right shelf to match the left one. The left and right side will be complete units. The center monitor stand will be bolted to the sides making it sturdy and also able to break down for easy moving. My desk chair seat height is 18". Hope to start my own thread this weekend when I start building it.
  12. Were both engines at full power? I have had similar happenings and was flying fine for a while till I lost the engine on that side as well. Then it really dragged on that side and eventually spun into the ground. Not sure if my other engine was at full power anymore either. Was too busy trying to keep the plane flying than looking at my gauges. Would have been a great time for TIR though.
  13. I hope the final code for A10 allows more cards to be used. I have never used SLI or CF but I am pretty sure that when using either, only the ports on one card will work, you can not use the ports on both cards when in CF or SLI. The 5970 dual GPU card will allow eyefinity with more than 3 monitors with the right card and enough adapters. Nvidia uses surround view but I think you can only use 2 monitors at once. Not sure though. I have 2 monitors and was going to hook up my old 7600GT to power 2 screens for MFDs. I really hope A10 works with multiple cards better when released. Does BS work with multiple cards?
  14. If you run Win7 you can run 2 different graphics drivers. Dont think its possible in XP or Vista. I have run a 4890 with a 7600gt in my win7 64 system.
  15. I like that it is easy to move the controls out of the way for normal computing. I have seen butcher blocks thinner than that desktop though.
  16. How comfortable is the center stick? I have been trying to figure out a good height for my G940 as well. I want center stick since I have A10 and BS as my sims. Also will give me area on the right shelf for my keyboard and mouse. I have a 22" main and a 22" touch. My touch will go where your Shkval is, and main above. Till I can afford a 32" or 36" 1080P for main. Height of your uhh, stick looks natural, but seems the damn G940 base is a bit in the way for rudder comfort. I have scrap 2x4s and no plywood which is why I am thinking of making a frame of studs and just a single sheet of ply should do all my shelves and such. No idea where this monster is going to go. My wife aint gonna like it though. Too bad for her. :)
  17. Love it. May redesign mine a bit. I am not working with wood yet. Still in the CAD phase. I think its holding me back as its pretty simple and CAD is just making it more complex I think. How did you attach your wood together? Looks like just 3/8" plywood screwed together. Does it seem strong enough? I was thinking of using 2x4s as the corners so the Plywood has something sturdy to attach to. What is your desk height?
  18. What are the scales on the bottom of the HUD? I do not recognize them from my BS. Left looks like G, right must be Collective?
  19. WTF dude. You do not get to have 3 attractive girls in your possesion who actually sit IN your cockpit whenthe rest of us can't find one.
  20. Okay, noticed I had not set up my right click yet in the samsung driver program. Changed it to a extended touch being right click and I can now turn knobs and switches the other direction. Works in both A10 and BS no problems. Dont forget to plug in the USB. Mine is a refurb and came with no instructions and I thought it was just to make it a USB hub. But duh, its the USB connection so it will be able to transmit touch inputs. I was pretty pissed for about 15 minutes.
  21. NO, pay attention. Install both the 32 bit and 64 bit version of A10 and you can run the 32 bit version (x86) to enable the use of TIR. If you did not check the box when installing, you will need to reinstall.
  22. How did you display the mfd over top of the normal viewport?
  23. Yeah big bang will cause issues. I am not sure if his folder was empty or just full of files that were hidden. Though exe are not usually hidden. Ehh whatever. Op can be confident that leaving or removing said fold should cause no harm. If it does, reinstall.
  24. Thought there was a message button on the right MFD or something to that effect.
  25. That works as well, but if nothings in it, why keep it? Could just confuse the installer on future patches or updates. It searches the computer for your DCS directory and having a folder in the "default" location would probably confuse it and possibly have updates installed incorrectly.
