It didn't. Turkey was already a member of NATO, but it caused a hell of a shitstorm in Brussells as a result of a NATO country 'buying' blueprints from Russia. My earlier post was a rushed affair and to be franc, didn't think that id have to go into the ins and outs of it and in actual fact, shan't. We all have our points of view and i know where mine come from and how grounded they are. That....is fact. Thanks for your inputs though. genuinely really interesting. Anyhow, back on track. Thanks

BTW, if anyone wants to discuss this further, happy to, but on TS or by PM. lets not crag up this thread with an ironic 'reality' spin to a very unrealistic thread. Mavs on KA-50's. Unrealistic of course, but a potential mod, maybe, so lets allow him to trawl for more ideas. Regards 'T'

Interesting. but certainly not 'un-realistic' just because you may think it has never happened. IGLA and the Archer are Soviet Missile systems. The Maverick are solely US, although sold to many other nations. Certainly however, not Russia. but not what Janes or Globalsecurity.org say, nor the Defence Procurement library. You wont have access to that. The KA-50 that 'was' sold to Turkey but was eventually in blueprint format only. Russia provided some technical advice during the building of the Eragdon which caused a major upheaval with regards to Turkey's inclusion as a member of NATO. Eventually of course, this is what delayed their partnership deal (NATO Probation) among human rights problems. Thanks anyway. Always interesting to see how other people perceive things. 'T'

IGLAS on wingtips? completely realistic to those who were skeptical: http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/ac/row/ka-50.htm ".......The 30-mm cannon is the same as on the BMP-2. It also carries guided air-to-air missiles IGLA-V (Needle C), already extensively tested and sold to buyers abroad" However, this was for the KA-50 Werewolf variant (those sold to other countries, including turkey who later developed the airframe into the Eragdon) is also capable of carrying the AA-11 (NATO Des 'Archer'), otherwise known as the R-73.

Yep, for sure" A great post there eddie with the tech info. Regards 'T' PS: A russian Inf Pl can be anything up to 30 including their Pl HQ element. more often than not slightly larger than this to account for specialists at Pl level, Light mortarman, signaller, 'Chief Medic', yadda yadda. The Russian construction of even a Pl nowadays is not that far off our own in the West. A Pl is a Pl. A bit like a AK is an AK. Doesn't matter whether it's the russian or chineese variants, its an AK.

DCS World Benchmark Tracks??
Heli Shed replied to walker450's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Strongharm made an exellent Benchmark mission that we all used as Testers shortly after DCS A-10C was first released. Drop him a line. -

Absolutely, but then again, who would? Maximum stand off distance should always be used in accordance with tgt type. Mav's, bomb's or even rockets would be better employed in this circumstance, but a Pl of BMP's needs gievn respect - that can be up to 9 BMP's in a conventional sense (ie fire team per vehicle). :helpsmilie:

Sure, i get it. Thought you wanted to know the realities of it. Basically, ive always seen them and they've always been within a mile, certainly closer by the time they release the dragon! It would all depend on how close FF were to the contact point. The further away they are, the more the pilot is likely to increase range, but accuracy is extremely important too - collateral damage causes a great deal of heartache, not to mention bad PR! Pilots are under a ROE too, and even when giving CAS to a TIC, they MUST be able to P ID their Tgt too. So, the truth is they probably can let rip at 3miles, but never would. Here though? what the hell................ ;-) thanks. 'T'

Quite simply incredible I agree! to say 'well done', simply doesn't do it. Can you fly it? ;-) Regards 'T'
-
For sure. Spread and ROF and velocity of initial firing point = a whole world of hurt! This is replicated well in the sim.

A lot of armchair warriors here. And for any of you, like myself who has used the awesome CAS Role of the A10, who have used it or witnessed it will realise that the semantics of this thread are completely irrelevant. I's not only bloody scary, even when being used in support on an enemy position 200 m away, but extremely effective! A10's will always fire within 1 mile. Never have I seen other. That's 5 tours of combat duty gents, not stuck in an office. When we assaulted and cleared what was left, was very single enemy lying there with a neat hole through them as we tend to believe from sycophantic crap from Hollywood? No. They were decimated. And the bits that were left were peppered with holes and wounds from shrapnel, the definition being shards from not just the projectile casing, but anything that is 'hit' at the other end, including bits of vehicles, buildings and in one case a large piece of what looked like a dustbin lid. Fact is, and semantics aside, you don't wanna be anywhere near those rounds as they hit.

Excellent! Thanks gents. 'T'

No. You didn't start a Barney. We get what you're trying to do, FairPlay. Just pointing out that it's not really 'realistic' is it? Anyway, the person you need to contact, without shadow of doubt is 'hijack'. The problem you are having with the AH-64 mod is LOD and crash parameters. He has come across this problem before when he made the excellent ship mod. Drop him a line. Good luck. 'T'

Thanks for the link frostie. I was aware of the possibility of it coming into fruition for FC2. The vfs I was a Sqn leader with at the time were not too keen for the idea due to exploits and possible innacuracies. There was no unbiased party running the global stats. However, and case makes a really good point in the final post about the difficulties with log handling, it would be nice to see if this could be possible with DCS world. I have a few projects on the burner right now, one being a global flight log system, very similar to the excellent 476th flight log, but this relies upon manual entry and upkeep which is laborious and expensive in the commodity of 'time'. Not a problem if its for your own VFS, but for the community? Er...................I don't think any of us have enough hours in the day. The global flight log will handle flight hours currently, but am struggling to try to automatically have scores imported and entered. The purpose of the post therefore was to ensure I was not creating something that was already in existence. I known mike stalturn (code), has done some tremendous work already, but anyone else? Regards Hope all is well with the 51st. 'T'

Global statistics from a flight log to scores. VFS's can opt in or out, but a global stats system like 'back in the day'. Wasn't it yoda or the 3sqn guys that ran with something like this during FC1.11 and then it sort of died out for fc2?

If the OP is able to make a mod that enables IGLAS to be mounted on the wingtips, we'll host it on the 74th's servers. Good luck again.

I'm not pestering sobek, at all. You should know me better than that. Sure he's entitled to load it with the heads of hammerheads if he wants, but I'm merely pointing out that its not realistic and asking the question "why"? I've also tried to direct his curiosity toward a solution which is fairly viable, that being IGLAS on the wing tips. Controversial for the hardcore, but realistic and a battlefield mod nonetheless. Good luck to him, but I feel for one minute that we can't give our point of view without being immediate stomped upon, then there's something seriously wrong here. I look forward to flying with you again sometime. 'T'

I think I've missed something here? Mavericks on a KA-50? Dear god, what are we coming too. Lets just chuck Iglas on a F15-C or vikhr's on a A10C? It's not realistic, at all. I seem to remember a thread like this a couple of years ago about stingers being mounted on the wings of KA-50's? It's is a study sim. The series is a study series. It is respected because of it's accuracy and the community is in uproar whenever an exploit is used to ruin others' experience on a server. Undoubtedly the inner coding will not allow you to fire mavericks because it'd NEVER happen. Like.......ever. Why not try to get IGLAS on the wing tips, which 'is' possible but not part of an original equipment CES, but an equipment Mod done during the late 80's?

Dont chase the error guys. We are where we are from endless 're-tiling'. It is a tile issue. nothing to do with his sytem specs. even on one monitor, his FPS will increase for sure but will be retrospective due to the tile rendering for that specific area. There are 28 known areas on my list that even if you had a PC powered by Nuclear Fission and a graphic card from the year 2015, the frame rate will still be retrospective in these areas. In essence a Tile issue. Happy Christmas. 'T'
