I've made a mod using DXT 3 - much better FPS - who wants it? -
Flying near trees causes great fps loss.
Heli Shed replied to OttoPus's topic in Game Performance Bugs
for now and as a temporary fix, reduce the tree drawing distance to the lowest setting? 'T' -
guys, you need to check your settings. Mine are fine - small enough in comparison to resolution of the rift. Certainly not broken in my view. 'T'

Does Nvidia DSR ( super sampling) works with CV1?
Heli Shed replied to simo1000rr's topic in Virtual Reality
No it doesn't affect the CV1. The CV1's resolution is fixed. You can however change the SS rate - above 1.5 though, you may experience diminishing returns. 'T' -
Crikey really? Bigger than the pictures i put up? if they are you need to change the model draw distance for VR. This seems to have an effect also. For me, the labels are tiny. literally. Thanks 'T'

Explanation is in the lua file.

Just got the Tobii 4C today - have to say that with the right setup configuration the head tracking is very high res and super smooth. likewise with the gaze. The trick is to retrain yourself - look with the direction of your head, use your eyes for the small movements at each position. I have Track IR5, the Rift and now Tobii 4c. For me, the TrackIR is now redundant when not flying with the rift. No more silly hat or a plethora of cables hanging from ones head - Top buy in my view. 'T'

Download and use the mod. solved.

DCS 1.5.5.60503 Update 4 was recently posted by Chizh here: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=147601&page=5 but actually the build released was 1.5.5.60338.212. Anyone else confirm this? 'T'

I've run a vfs - the 74th vfs 'The Flying Tigers' - one of the most successful A2G vfs's in my view. The members were all elite - no they really were. We trained hard, we fought easy. Anyone who flew with us knew you were flying with a serious RP element of combat flight simmers. We used formalised and correct VP, stringent TTP's and strict conduct. We were dedicated and we committed. Our missions were only ever realistic, well founded in scenario and heavily briefed. We were a serious bunch. And that was exactly the problem. Mission design needs careful construct to meet as many capabilities by pilots as possible, in order that it is shared, experienced and ultimately used as a learning tool for us all. The community is too small to be too nepotistic. The 104th is an exemplar of the 'catering for all' ethic in my view. No one does it better - some don't like that - that's just how it is - can't please them all...................

What an awesome post by the OP of positivity and appreciation. I commend you sir for raising and reminding us all, just how very lucky we are to have ED, TFC in the background & the 3rd party developers working tirelessly to bring us the best quality and most accurate airframes that modern software and hardware can support. That is their only driver - to give the best possible - they're not making enough to all retire to a purchased island in the Pacific ya know! ;-) Sometimes we need reminding of where we've come from, to 'really' appreciate where we are and, where we want to go. I'm no stranger to these forums, I've been around a bit as they say. I've supported ED since 2005, joining the 104th in 2006 and being an ED tester for the A10C in 2009. I've run a VFS (the old 74th - like devil dawgs they were), trained people in the community, created missions and training academy's that still have a presence on YouTube even now. I've taken some time out from DCS after retiring from 26 years service in the British Army - Infantry - PWRR in 2013 and, in the interim period flown 'other' sims (and yes..........mellowed a tad) - FSX, P3D, IL46 CLOD, X-Plane, CAP, War Th....... there's quite a few out there - I've also spent hundreds of pounds on addons - Tacpack, Orbx, Airports, PMDG, Aerosof........... - you get the point. I still keep coming back to DCS - the latest 1.5.5 and NTTR is stunning - very many congratulations ED!! - (PS get a rift!!) Know what? None of the others stack up. Not one of them in my view (we are all entitled to one) stack up to the fidelity, effort and end product of DCS - ED and their partners. The interaction between Devs and the product for DCS World is first class and likewise with the 3rd party developers. You rarely find it elsewhere. Yes there are bugs, yes there are issues - isn't there everywhere? - do your utmost to inform ED in a timely and accurate manner and help them ID to fix it. We should have a week of bug submissions - a 'drive' to show overt support to ED and their products. Now....if we could only start to be a little civil to each other on here and realise there is a human being on the receiving end of the text we write, we'd all be in a much better place. Well done OP - have some rep. 'T'

Welcome to the world of mission generation ala update!!! There is 'always' something that changes during an update that will mess with previous missions created in different versions. Well alright, not 'always' granted, but I'd say 'more often than not'. That's not ED's fault per sae - although to be frank, it used to drive me insane and into fury. Good luck. PS: sorry I forgot........................roll back the version number and try again. If it works, it may be a DTED change & its effect in 1.5.5

Caucasus Map Texture DLC by Starway
Heli Shed replied to Starway's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Starway, this is truly an excellent contribution to the overall sim package and I sincerely hope that the undoubted thousands of hours put into the product is justly rewarded. Thank you so much for your efforts. I will certainly support it by buying it. Some comments on here are simply not warranted, down right rude and have no place. What makes this texture pack any different form any other addition to the core sim? Answer = none. Buy it - Fly it - love it 'T' -
Devastating news. I've had many a convo via pm. My thoughts are with his friends and family.

Seriously, if it's that simple - 2 lines of lua script, why hasn't it been done before or embedded into current builds as a temp measure until a longer term solution? Is there a reason?

DCS World 2.0 - Las Vegas Strip in a humvee
Heli Shed replied to Eight Ball's topic in Screenshots and Videos
Initial thoughts? great mapping - a little too sterile, grey, 'life-less'. very good fps here.
