update. JTAC's broke.

Hi all, The first part of the Open Workshop introduced you to some basics with regards to Ground Discipline in the A-10C but also some key concepts of A2G principles - particulary prioritisation of targets after aquisition. Remember, your 'one pager' in the Doc pack will hold you in good sted. Thanks to the following who showed but also to those that didn't or couldn't and pm'd me. Appreciated. We hope it was an informative Workshop (part '1' of '2'). Remember what was covered will not turn you in to a Top Gun overnight, but it will certainly start those of you who are 'lonewolf's', well on the way. Remember the Principles for Ground Attack and how to execute it, the appropriate calls and why we make them. Finally, my own little bit of 'Rumsfeld waffle'. "Remember that the enemy are over 'there', so attack from over 'here', in accordance with maximum stand off equalling limited risk. If you attack from over 'there', where the enemy is, check your parachute!" The 'Extra' part to Open Workshop 2 will be on Tuesday 04th at 2000 hrs UK Time. Carrying on fom the first Part of Open Workshop '2', and as confirmation of it, there will be a large 'Fly in' to put it all together. Starting sharp at 2000 hrs. Look forward to it. regards 'T'

You kill me Eth. Thats my whole point. Thanks for the 'in-depth' explanation though. 'T'

Well that, is undeniable I'd agree. Thanks. 'T'

i think so eno. for sure there has been some scampering on the master server in the background, so perhaps it has been fixed? We havn't experienced the error at all over the past 36 hrs. good news? 'T'

Nothing to do with warehouse. I haven't looked but ive come accross this already. I'm willing to bet its because you set the role to Ground Attack or 'anything other' than CAS. Also, if you have a unit that you have changed the role and then back to cas, pick a loadout and it wont be loaded as thought. I'm sure the testers have picked up on this, but this bug has been around for this and the last iteration. 'T'

Mahdi Militia, Iraq. Basha 5-2 made one pass. It's all it took. I'd rather not again.
-
lmao! nice one boys.
-
Fire up DCS world. Does the version number say 1.2.2.7570?
-
Correct.
-
No it's not. What it is is using one core for sound the other core for the sim. Any remaining cores are redundant / working on background tasks. For it to be truly multi-threading, all cores would be used for all tasks. 'T'
-
In short. I have. Get on Teamspeak and discuss there, but my gut tells me that if you have no idea how to go about it, it will last 5 minutes. Good luck.
-
I have had support from Basha 5-2. Iraq, 2005, AC-130 Spectre GS. scared the **** out of us! 'T'

Correct and always a pre requisite for any workshop I run.

Guys, I started the 74th 2 and a bit years ago for mainly pilots from the UK and from EU. 14 Members, we are bit elitist i suppose in that we don't want wankers about or those from accross the pond too much. too higher ping mainly. Feel free to pop on our TS anytime or visit us at 74thvirtual.co.uk. Our server Lynx whilst mainly open when closed is still available to UK Pilots by getting the password from the MOTD in Teamspeak. See you in the sky - Salute from Nottingham!

DCS WORLD update doesn't finish....
Heli Shed replied to kirk7312's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
save yourself a headache. Right click on the DCS World shortcut on the destop and select properties. go to the target field and at the end of the command line and after the " type: update make sure you have a space after the " Apply and ok. execute. That'll do it for ya. 'T' -
yes mate. pre-load and caching errors amongst many. if you're running a server, dont 'force' scenes and set the server settings to max at everything in the options screen. Bin tankers, JTAC's and as much AI in the 'air' apart from Heli's as you can. with these settings we have seen a 75% increase in reliability of clients being able to 'connect' to our server. keeping them there? idle_timeout = 0 game_timeout = 0 as global entries in your network config will pretty much do that. Good luck. 'T'
-
lol. If i could get them connected to the server in the first place - that'd be a start. but like i said. sometimes it's fine. Tonight for example. It's just trying to find the continuum at fault. So far - a blank. Regards 'T'

Now i feel like a preaching wally. Ive just seen your other post. You're on about the Country, Squad and patch right? and not a real vfs. Apols. Regards 'T' PS: bah....................keep the +1. ;-)

Yes it can and very simply too. Place a 'unit' under the bridge that is easily killed or not depending on how much damage you want the bridge to take before it blows. Place a trigger over the bridge and then set a rule up that if the unit is killed, an explosion will take place in the trigger area. We use this method on Op Dynamo to simulate blowing the bridges up using mavericks - which of course you cannot as it's a map object. But - the infantry underneath is in proximity enough to get wasted. - boom - 2000 Explosion smack bang in the trigger. This method also works with any unit on the HP Basis right up to 5th Gen MBT as the unit trigger and broadens out to using pretty much any map object as part of your mission setup. Good luck. 'T'

Hi Ar2Hur, I'm assuming that you know the intracacies of the actual simulations intimately, have a little money aside to support the endevour - Website, Teamspeak, Server & Bandwidth and that you have a group of you already? Perhaps you've been about the block a bit (forgive the expression) and have links to vfs's and know the community? If the answer to all or some of the above is 'no', then allow me to offer some sincere advice. Look around for a fairly 'local' VFS (by virtue of timezone and language), find out what their server is, their TS etc, and pop along and introduce yourself. Fly with them for a lil while. perhaps apply to become a member. use your membership time as a tool to gather facts and ideas of running a vfs. If it is to be successful and last longer than 5 minutes, it needs desire, drive, ambition, passion, dedication, committment and most of all, knowledge. I applaud your initiative of course and certainly don't believe in stiffling it when it appears in people - RL or on here, but the fact is that this small community of ours needs vfs's to be successfull, to live, breath and grow to ensure the longevity of the products we fly. Again, forgive me, but i will assume (which i never do, but on this occasion) that you are fairly new around here, but have flown a fair bit in SP or tasted MP and have seen the tags on people, their websites etc and feel that you could add to it. Fairplay and kudos to you mate, but take my advice, please. Start from the bottom. Happy to talk to you further about running a vfs - please, pop along to our Teamspeak anytime. But be warned. It's not as easy as people think it is. It's a timely endevour if to be done right. Regards 'T' +1 of course:thumbup:

Difficult i know guys and i understand completely about not ripping ones mission apart to accommodate the somewhat increasing and ambiguous crashes, but stability, if thats what your after, almost demands it. Op Dynamo has been going for 4 hrs straight tonight, infact has done the full rounds - phase 1, re-run of Phase 2 and Phase 2, currently loading up phase 2 again. At one point, the server was full again, and the 'load mission' seems to be working fine. I guarantee tomorrow will be a different story and hardly anyone will be able to connect without the crash.. impossible to pinpoint apart from setting conditions that reduce the liklihood, in this case - pre-load. Good luck, stick with it, im sure they wont let us down. Personally, i woulda got a fix out sharpish and then concentrated on the next patch, but, we don't know what goes on behind the closed doors of ED. Russian, American and British all working together - Brilliant! But amazing that anything works at all to be frank. 'T'

Yeah thanks. I took another look this morning, all morning actually, at the collection of logs, no different than anyone else or ones already posted, hence the hoarding, and repetitive DX renderer errors and cache errors appearing all over. It's definitely pre-load erros and Mustang confirmed it for me one night (scratch that - early morning) when we spoke about setting / forcing scene rendering. Thanks. 'T'
