Interactive startup training goes straight to debrief.

Try a DCS Repair. We just retested on our system and the mission opened and played fine for us. -

Do you have the A-10C module (not the A-10C II). Those interactive missions are only applicable to the A-10C module presently. -
Thanks! We reviewed your trk file and found the bug. Thank you! Your trk made it clear how to reproduce it so we will have a fix ready for the next patch release. The same bug was also found in the A-10C II versions of the BFT05 missions so we will fix those as well. Please continue to report any bugs you find as that will help us improve the missions for everyone. Stay safe!

Yes the AI is still a work in progress. It worked fine when we tested it but some recent AI path finding problems have been reported. We will retest again and see if we can work around those crazy AI behaviors. The practice missions start with you either on the runway or in the air (so you get to skip the start-up sequence). There are a few extra voice overs and other tips and hints to help you prepare for the qual missions but the triggers are the same between both so if you get good at the practice missions the actual quals should be no sweat. Update: We retested and didn't get the fuel truck crashes you indicated though we did notice the wingman aircraft parked in the wrong spot for mission 2 so we will be putting a fix in for that. Please continue to report any other issues that come up. Thanks.

In today's patch update ED has released our A-10C II Basic Flight Training Qualification campaign. This is a free upgrade and included in the A-10C Basic Flight Training Campaign package. Additionally we updated all the voice overs for the BFT campaigns. The practice missions are also now in their own campaign so the package currently includes 4 campaigns: A-10C BFT Practice Campaign A-10C BFT Qualification Campaign A-10C II BFT Practice Campaign A-10C II BFT Qualification Campaign We also updated numerous triggers and made a few other adjustments to improve gameplay. Please let us know if you encounter any issues. Thanks and stay safe!

you have committed fratricide!!!
Sabre-TLA replied to doclucio's topic in F/A-18C Aggressors BFM Campaign
Unfortunately the AI is still a work in progress. Please forward the trk files if you encounter it again and I'll send it to ED. They are working on improving the AI so hopefully they can do something about the mid-air collisions too. As a workaround the AI doesn't react quickly to sudden movements so try and make your turns more slowly and keep an eye on your wingman's positioning. It might not stop them from crashing into you but it might help you avoid them. -
Oh it's no problem at all. Please keep the feedback coming and the forum is fine for reporting. It helps to alert other players to potential problems before we can fix them. I just didn't want you or others to think that we produce crappy missions because we do work hard to make sure they play properly but every game engine update has a chance to change the behavior. We don't have the time nor resources to test every mission after every update (we would never get time to work on anything new) so we rely on players like yourself to report issues so we can investigate and hopefully fix it or future proof it so future changes don't break it again. This is a problem for all created missions and campaigns. Unless the authors are on top of it and keep them updated then they break and become unplayable. With more players joining DCS daily we want their experiences to be positive especially with the DLCs since they are paid content. Please keep the feedback coming, we welcome all if it (good and bad). If we can fix the issue we will, if we can't we will let ED know.

Thanks for the feedback. We have replayed all the missions with the updates for the A-10C II so have adjusted many triggers to avoid these incidents you are reporting. This should be corrected in the next update. The missions played correctly when first designed and you can see various youtube videos showing that. However, game engine and flight dynamic changes over time have an effect and so we have to make adjustments when issues are known. I'm not aware of any particular issues we had to correct in missions 10 through 12 but if you find any please report them. If they aren't corrected in the next patch update they will be in the one after that.

BUG with Basic Flight Training Qualification - 08 - Emergencies
Sabre-TLA replied to Wallace79's topic in Problems and Bugs
That should be fixed in the next patch update. Unfortunately the failure conditions don't happen immediately so you have to wait for them (but we added text to that effect and increased the time for recovery). Let us know your results after the next patch release. -
Sorry I missed the earlier post about the time differences. In older videos the in cockpit time was the same as the mission time. A recent game engine update changed the in cockpit time to Zulu time (I guess to be more accurate with what the military actually uses). If you add 4 hours then you get the local time. The AI has some glitches so I'm not sure if the crashing into the tanker is reproducible or just a one off. We are testing the campaign with the A-10C II module now and will make any adjustments to try and avoid that issue.

FA-18C Aggressors BFM Campaign
Sabre-TLA replied to Sabre-TLA's topic in F/A-18C Aggressors BFM Campaign
Sorry we didn't notice your earlier question. This request to squawk mode 3 tactical was heard from actual Red Flag controllers so we included it in the mission, however the IFF is not fully modeled in the sim so it doesn't have any actual usage. To simulate it you could enter the aircraft's pressure altitude: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aviation_transponder_interrogation_modes https://code7700.com/transponder.htm Mode 3 (Military) / Mode C (Civilian) Provides the aircraft's pressure altitude, sometimes called "Mode 3C." -
New You Tube Video
Sabre-TLA replied to jasonbirder's topic in A-10C Basic Flight Training Qualification DLC
No these will be the same checkrides as before. If you want formal training Baltic Dragon was working on a training campaign on the NTTR map and we don't want to duplicate that. -
New You Tube Video
Sabre-TLA replied to jasonbirder's topic in A-10C Basic Flight Training Qualification DLC
Yes we are updating the campaign for the A-10C II module. The new video is also to coincide with a complete update of the voice overs for both the original and A-10C II updated campaign. I can't say when the new files will be ready but we hope very soon. -
Glad you enjoyed it. Yes the campaigns are similar as we wanted to keep the missions consistent so the players can see the handling differences between the different aggressor aircraft when dealing with the AI. We have made some recent changes to add campaign versions to play against Rookie, Random as well as the Ace AI. This let's you build your skills against various opponent AI skill levels. As ED improves the AI behaviors and performance these missions should also improve.

Sorry you find the AI dogfighting boring. We are adding Rookie and Random campaigns and have changed the ROE to Return Fire to allow the player to get the first shot before they engage. Hopefully this gives more options than flying against the Ace AI. As ED improves the AI then hopefully the dogfighting will become more challenging.
