  1. neofightr, could you describe a typical sortie from briefing to debriefing and give some sort of time scale. If there is such a thing as a typical sortie? No matter how mundane the detail, it would be great to hear that sort thing described so we can maybe try and emulate and build a mission in DCS when we get our grubby hands on this sim.
  2. I hope it's not too much to ask and if it is no problem. Could you do a little write-up and describe your typical day on board during operations. Stuff like routine, times, when you get breaks all that kind of thing?
  3. Brilliant. Thank you so much for sharing!
  4. Great video. So much better without the music. So good to hear the real sounds.
  5. Great videos. So interesting to see the bigger picture. This is what fascinates me in the simulation. Being able to see stuff like that and think and take on board when flying longer missions. I remember Matt Wagner boasting that the maps in the up coming DCS (back in the lock on days) will be so big you will have to refuel on some missions and that got me thinking about the airframe and alpha strikes etc.
  6. Brilliant stuff. This really is fascinating. Enjoying every word. Many thanks
  7. neofightr please ignore the doubters. Unfortunately it's going to happen. Don't even reply to that nonsense they will soon get bored. This is a great thread. For us PC Pilot Warriors, it's fascinating getting such insight into the world you experienced and we try to simulate. Your original post was one of the best reads on that stuff I have seen in years. A real eye opener for me. Many thanks.
  8. Nice one and good luck with your PPL. Good to hear VR helps in real life. I also fly FSX and Prepar 3d in VR. At the moment I use Flyinside in FSX and waiting for them to update Prepar3d v4 then I might take the plunge and get PMDGs 747 after flying the NGX for many years. Bit pricey though.
  9. The A10c is equally good. The size of the cockpits always blows me away. VR is pricey and to be honest, it was outside of my normal budget but I did some extra overtime etc to pay for it and I can honestly say I have no regrets at all. It has changed the way I fly in as much as I have way more control. Things like air to air refueling are so much easier when you're sitting in the pit. It's still not easy but it is a more enjoyable challenge now.
  10. I was yes. Family wedding. We then headed south to Hanover then did a meandering tour to the west. Really was fantastic. I lived in Germany for 4 years many moons ago. I love the place.
  11. Same here. I did have a go with just the monitor and man it was just so flat. Btw I was enjoying the delights of Hamburg and Northern Germany the other week. Quality place. I didn't want to come back to the UK.
  12. I agree with what Elysian Angel said. On motion sickness, I got it when I first got my rift. I jumped straight into the F15 and started doing barrel rolls and loops and all sorts of spins while giggling like a child and then it hit me. It was exactly like being on a roller coaster. I didn't vomit or anything but I wasn't feeling to good. Now I don't get any of those effects. If I have a week away from VR and I go back in a sim I get very mild motion sickness but this all passes quickly for me.
  13. I have been flying this great sim for many years but this in VR it's just on another level. To be actually sitting in a cockpit so familiar and being able to control it so well is just fantastic. If you get the opportunity to try it I guarantee it will blow your socks off. It's like a new sim again and I really mean that. It's like the first time you tried it or the first time you tried Track IR but even better. I installed the HD Black Shark mod and this really enhances the visuals within the pit itself. VR is not as high resolution or crisp as your monitor. I can read all the dials without any problems but that sharpness you get is not there. However, all that pails into insignificance because sitting there in that huge cockpit and it is big is simply simulation heaven.
  14. Thanks for posting this. I have never seen this before. Quality. What a brilliant video. Great to see how they do it in RL. It also shows what a great job they have done to the simulation we love. So satisfying seeing stuff like this and it all seeming so familiar. Good to see that they use those airbrakes when landing just as much as I do he he. When I fly this in VR I am constantly sitting there going "wow" just "wow"
  15. I have the same thing in VR. I just adjust the seat from within in the cockpit (switch on the left) and then I relax and reset eyeview. I only need to do this once and it's all good.
  16. I've read Bogeys and Bandits (great stuff) I downloaded Hornets over Kuwait and really enjoying it. Many thanks.
  17. Thanks for this.
  18. Great stuff. That looks like a sweet setup.
  19. Ah, man many thanks. I would love to but I work full time and have 2 young kids. I have tried in the past to do multiplayer and, to be honest, it's the best experience I have ever had in simulation but I can never keep it up because of the job I do etc. Do you have a website I can check out? I want to do a series blog on my site about my efforts in this campaign?
  20. I am having fun. Really enjoyed the first mission. I have also learnt a few things that I would otherwise not bothered with in other single player environments such as accurate navigation etc. The effort gone into the briefing materials is fantastic and really helps. Many thanks.
  21. I purchased the Hip a few days ago. I really like/love flying the Huey and can manage most maneuvers quite well now. I thought for some reason the Hip would be easier to fly probably because it's larger and seems more stable. It wasn't a nightmare to fly but it was certainly a shock to find out how easy it was to get into a vortex ring state. It's just different and I have to adapt. In VR it looks incredible inside the cockpit and I can't wait to get stuck into all the systems.
  22. Much appreciated. Cheers!!
  23. Hi, just purchased this and as the title says. Can anyone help?
  24. That really would be very cool.
