  1. I am just a bit confused. Is legends supposed to be old school jets, popular jets (as in the F-14 is legendary), or old prop planes. Legend is not a very discriptive word. Also I have to be honest. This scares me a bit. I am VERY concerned that ED will either get overloaded or change thier focus. I would like to see DCS: SR-71 some day. That plane is looks COOL. Some may even say its ahem.... Legendary.
  2. Thanks Blaster. I am glad to receive the info. .
  3. Yeah I am not sure about the prices. They can have like 8 buttons and 3 axis. They can also have LED light buttons, thumbwheels, rockers, and hats as an option.
  4. Thought you guys might find this interesting. http://www.chproducts.com/oem/index.asp
  5. I need some advice from you expert simpit builders out there. This is a desk I am working on to be an everday desk as well as fit my flight sim wants (they are not really needs are they?). Here is the problem. I have a 19 inch (Elo brand frameless with a glass touch surface NICE!!!) touch screen inlaid into my desk, if I slide out the keyboard tray I am too far out to effectively use and operate the touchscreen. I have thought about putting the screen at a slant but that would raise the main screen to an unnatural hieght. Also note that the flight controls (they are going to be mounted) keep me from sliding the chair forward and if I lower the seat the main screen as well as the table top will be too high. So can you design guru's help me out? I need a solution (I know I did not give you guys a lot to work with).
  6. Well maybe not for aircraft (it most definitely does for submarines). I was simply making an observation that the thing was loud that was all. Not that the sound made it ineffective. No not the F-117. It was the B2. The bomber one. I have never seen an F-117 (outside of pictures of course). That would be cool though.
  7. Thank you JimMack.
  8. I never could understand why people like the stealth so much. It takes a nice photo but when you see it in real life it looks kind of...... dumpy. The stealth does touch and goes (rarely I have only seen it twice in 11 years though it has been there more often than that) where I work. You can not hear the stealth land but when it takes off it is anything but stealthy (it is much MUCH louder than the F-16).
  9. Ha ha GoldRush... your killing me (thats my jet name, when I fly a helo I go by QuickSilver). The Tulsa base for American Airlines is hiring right now. I am not sure what the mechanics start out at but they top out somewhere around 30 an hour plus license premium. Go to aacareers.com to see if they are hiring in your city. I could always use more pics of redheads.
  10. Crunch this statement perplexes me a bit. 104th has been (and is) a major player in the FC/DCS online community. A lot of people that play FC2 play it online. FC3 stands to increase the online population. I understand DCS offers a gaming mode. But most online servers (including 104th) do not offer support for that mode. So that is not really an option for most people that want an online experience. There is also the consideration that FC is like DCS training wheels. It is the "gateway" sim to DCS products. Let's be real here. DCS titles scare off a lot of people because of thier complexity. I know. I have seen it twice. I think bringing out FC3 without new aircraft would be a huge loss of opportunity to further develop the online community.
  11. 213 bite your tongue. The SR-71 in my opinion is one of the most beautiful jets ever made. It is most definitely the fastest. Mach 3.2 cruising speed.
  12. Medic, ever hear the expression a picture is worth a thousand words? I can only speak to one person at a time (also I do WORK there which limits my socialization time). There is also the fact that not all people I communicate with about the game are going to be interested. The great thing about a poster is it attracts attention of multiple people and only those that have an interest need respond, as opposed to getting thier ear raped. Follow me? Posters to decorate my room with might be neat (though I am not a poster guy) however, I am much more interested in having more pilots joining the fun in multiplayer action.
  13. I know this may seem an odd request. I work for an airline maintenance base (the largest commercial airline base in the world in fact 9,000 est employees, 260 acres, 3,300,000 sq ft) and have many co workers that may be interested in this sim (this is a highly concentrated area of people with at least some interest in aviation. Otherwise why else would they do this for a living right?). I would like some posters to display on the walls to advertise for ED. Think you ED guys could send me some?
  14. How did you add the text? I have not been able to figure that out yet. I mean I can ADD it but I can not seem to do it with any accuracy for size or location.
  15. Jmod. I have to say I totally disagree with you about eliminating the A-10A. The main (and only) reason for this is simple. It has been debated that having FC mixed with DCS titles is a bad idea because the FC pilots have an advantage due to less complicated gameplay. The debate has also been made that the DCS pilots have the advantage because thier birds are more capable. I believe this is a perfect opportunity to test out this debate (at least for ground pounders, this proves nothing for A2A). Anyone else agree?
  16. I suggest Google Sketchup. It has many PC products already modeled to scale (like I download the Logitech G940 to scale for instance). Also you can work out those engineering problems. For instance I wanted to inlay a touch monitor on my desk (Elo brand also to scale I might add). But thanks to the ability to model it in 3D I found I did not have clearence between the bottom of the monitor and the top of the keyboard that set in a slide out tray. That saved me a lot of headaches. Using this software (its free) is easy, innovative, and can save you alot of money in materiel cost due to unforseen fitting problems. Most people can design the desk/cockpit/whatever with little problem. Its all the equipment that goes ON the whatever that sometimes causes problems. Good luck friend. Whoops...... I just noticed the screenshots (It's been a long long LONG day). Guess you already use Google Sketchup. Good man. What I said still goes for all you builders to be out there. Measure twice (Google Sketchup) cut once ;).
  17. I once had a tank hit me so hard he knocked me off the internet........It's true.
  18. Thank you for the clarification Blaze.
  19. I just had a super funny idea. You could just mount a projector to your helmet. HA HA HA HA. At least the wieght would be more centered
  20. That might hurt your neck. Even with the bungee cord supporting the wieght the inertia of the monitor from turning your head could injure you. I recommend an HMD (Head Mounted Display). http://www.vuzix.com/consumer/products_wrap_1200vr.html#specifications 75-inch virtual screen as viewed from ten feet (approximately 3 m) 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio Twin high-resolution 852 x 480 LCD displays Supports display resolutions of: 640 x 480 (VGA) 800 x 600 (SVGA) 1024 x 768 (XGA) 1280 x 720 (720p) 60Hz progressive scan update rate 35-degree diagonal field of view 24-bit true color (16 million colors) Weighs approximately three ounces Independent left and right eye focal adjustment Supports side-by-side 3D video for PC gaming Connects to PC VGA or DVI port & USB2.0 ports Head tracker with drift compensation VR Manager software (digital download) $599.99 And this one http://www.ecoustics.com/electronics/products/new/696899.html This is what I have been waiting for. This is a 1080 display with 2D/3D support. It is USB powered. And here is the best part. The display is SEE THROUGH. This is important because traditional displays (displays you can not see through) block your view from your sim equipment. This way you can see your keyboard, hotas, and other equipment. This also has the benefit of letting you use other monitors (TeamSpeak, Helios, Xfire). These "transparant" displays seem to be where this technology is going. I for one am very excited.
  21. What project list? Does this mean there making DCS Harrier?
  22. I am not with ED. I have no affiliation with them whatsoever. I am not a reviewer, moderator, tester, or anything of the sort. I am only a customer / player like you. I only suggested we close this thread because its been discussed for over 100 pages. If it has not been said by now will it?
  23. I move to close this thread can I get a second? I think its all been said. Agreed?
  24. I do not see why your even bringing up Flaming Cliffs 2. When DCS Blackshark came out it was never advertised to be compatible with the Lock On brand. FC2 and DCS BS were made online compatible because (in my opinion) DCS Apache fell through the cracks and ED needed an online offering to keep thier brand viable until they could build up thier stable. I believe ED had full intentions of delivering an airframe every 9 months, but not being able to publicly release DCS Apache started a whirlwind of complications of scheduling and development that we are still feeling the effects from (ED correct me if I am wrong). DCS MODULES are different. They were advertised to be modular and online compatible from the very beginning, hence the name MODULES (FC2 is not a DCS Module). So to charge someone money to get online compatibility for a product thats whole concept was based on modularity and online compatibility is a slap in the face. I do not expect ED to bring DCS BS to the DCS WH graphical standard for free. I do expect them to keep the online compatibility for free.
  25. I think you hit the nail on the head.
