  1. Xpain HA HA HA your killing me. I work for American Airlines M&E base in Tulsa, OK. It is the biggest commercial airline maintenance base in the world. I have had the opportunity to see 777, 767, 757, 737, MD80, MD11, A300, and Fokker's cockpits over the years (I hope to see the 787 soon). Of course they are not so exciting sitting on the ground... I posted that to post this. I am going to take a screenshot of the stock aircraft cockpits that AMR and FSX share. I am going to see just how accurate they really are. I posted that to post this. I do not know how accurate FSX stock cockpits are (yet). I will however say that for all the people that say the stock aircraft suck, they look really good to me, and I am in them 5 days a week (or more). Are the stock aircraft really THAT bad?
  2. What does that have to do with what we were talking about? You went from talking about government funding to private enterprise. By the way that "American Tech' your buying is manufactured in China. The only people that see money from that in America are the wealthy. Only recently did they start manufacturing CPU's in Texas. No Pakistan is not our allie. They found Bin Laden a few miles from a military base. They were clearly harboring him. I refuse to believe Pakistani intelligence is so incompetent that they did not know he was there. Then on top of that they sold USA military tech to China. This is nothing more than the USA trying to buy friends with American tax dollars. A fools purchase. By the way this was my 500th post. I wish it had been a little more DCS'y
  3. I just read that Microsoft Flight will be free to play. Guess Microsoft thought free to play was a good route to go to. Are you listening X-Plane???
  4. If you ask me the way they sell flight simulators is all wrong. What they should do is give away the base engine (or at least make it low cost) and charge a licensing fee to third party developers to sell their product. They can even release first party aircraft packs every 6 months for a nice revenue stream. Why sell X-Plane 10 for 80 dollars (a price that is sure to go down) when you can get a nice revenue stream going years after the initial purchase? Most of these companies are finding "free to play" is more profitable than retail or even subscription based sales.
  5. Your putting way too much into a simple observation. When money leaves here the USA pays, when money comes here the USA pays, right? Either way, no matter what direction money moves, the USA citizens pay. Peanuts or not that adds up to a lot of money over 5 years. If it is peanuts let another country fit that bill for a while. I nominate yours. We send money to strategic allies? Are Afghanistan and Pakistan our allies. We send them billions a year too. No country gave us tons of money for Katrina. That money came from a world disaster fund. We put money into that fund. I agree with you about the trade deficit.
  6. What makes you say that? They have not really even released any details about it. I am not trying to offend you but give it till a couple of months after release (patches, come on we KNOW there coming) before you pass judgment. People were saying Duke Nukem Forever was going to be great before it was released. That was June 10, 2011 and you can not even sale your used copy now at GameStop. They will not even give you two dollars for it. Maybe MS Flight will be awesome. Probably not though. Naa your right it will suck. It might be good (SHRUGS). At the very least it is going to energize the flight sim hardware market.
  7. I understand economics just fine EtherealN. I never said anything about our aid causing financial problems. What about what I said even closely resembled that? Looking back at our history though free money tends to flow one way.... out. If you think that document you posted is representative of the money we send out every year that we get zero return on your the one that needs a lesson in economics. Did you know we give Israel a 3 BILLION dollar grant every year since 1985? That is 81 BILLION dollars. The government makes a nice little distinction between aid and a grant, I do not. That alone trumps that document and that is just one example. I do not remember the last time any country gave USA anything. Hence when when money leaves the USA its a gift and when it comes in it is a debt. I stand by what I said. There was nothing weird about my post. It was just an observation and it is the absolute truth.
  8. Funny how when money leaves the USA to another country it is a gift, but when money leaves other countries to the USA it is a debt. We GIVE more money away every year than most countries have in their whole economy. Fact.
  9. Does X-Plane 10 have the same clunky interface X-Plane 9 does? If it does that is a deal breaker for me. X-Plane 9 may be more realistic than FSX but FSX has a much better interface. So for me its FSX. I think we can all agree that X-Plane 9's interface SUCKS. Here is hoping they streamlined X-Plane 10. I would like to reiterate I am not talking about the flying part itself. I am talking about the menu system, just to be perfectly clear.
  10. Hijacker :D:megalol: Your right thats a pretty cool frankenstick.
  11. Sure I would love to see it. Does it use real life dimensions?
  12. I just did a little comparison myself. Turns out that triggers plans, while very good, do not actually match the real Ka-50 front panel layout. What makes this obvious is comparing the gauge location to the leg cut outs. I don't suppose anybody has the real life dimensions. As a side note, though not 100 percent accurate, I think trigger did a great job.
  13. Rokmonkey care to post yours. I would be interested in seeing it. I will agree that maybe the gauges are too close to the HSI and ADI but that is how the plans showed them. I wouldn't mind someone double checking my work. Maybe I missed something but I do not think so. I was very thorough. If you examine the pics Gadroc posted they seem close together there as well.
  14. Did we scare him off?
  15. I am off work untill Jan 4th so anytime is good for me. Name it, I will be there.
  16. Trigger did not put those in his design. Thats why I need the measurements for them. Where did trigger GET those measurements anyway??
  17. I used Triggerhappy's plans. Thank you for the thought though JG14 Smil. I appreciate it.
  18. Well I found the plans for this and remodeled it down to the millimeter. Here is the second version. Things still to do Master Caution Rotor Limit Indicators Hole for Landing Gear Panel. (Thanks Gadroc) I would appreciate it if anybody can post the plans for these. Down to the millimeter if you please. When I am done I will post the actual file itself for anyone wanting to build a front panel.
  19. Thanks Gadroc. I do believe the gagues next to the HSI and ADI are to scale though. But your right that might be difficult to make. I did have a template i was working off of. Maybe you can check it for errors? You have a lot more experience and skill than I do at this sort of thing. Not bad for a first attempt though right? Here is the template I used. http://home.arcor.de/simpit/F16fighter/Main_Front_Instrument_Panel.PDF Maybee the template was off? Or maybee I made some mistakes. This is the first time I have attempted to model a pre existing item. I am sure there are mistakes. I would appreciate any help. Thanks QuickSilver
  20. I will help you chucky35uk if you want. You MUST have teamspeak though. You will be able to trim after were done I guarantee it (about 1 hour) .
  21. That does not always work. I played today and had the compass of by almost 90 degrees. That was AFTER making sure the HSI had stopped adjusting. It happened 3 times in a row flying from Kras Cent to Anapa. According to the Hud I was flying due south!
  22. Who said its a WW2 aircraft?
  23. Well I wanted to model the DCS BS main panel for a simpit (though AMR just declared bankrupty :( Hello unemployment). I finally got around to modeling it in sketchup. What do you guys think? I did not texture it because I was only designing a panel.
  24. No they have not been solved.
  25. I have a G940. It is good for trimming purposes due to force feedback. It has a lot of buttons and is super easy to program. However, it has a lot of slop in the middle (x,Y) and the R1 and R2 wheels jump. Not just on FC or DCS but ALL titles. I tried to use R2 for zoom view (yes I have Track IR) and it had extreme jumps. Its useless. Logitech also has not supported this product. They have done little to fix the slop or rotary problems (1 patch that did NOTHING). As far as the Black Shark it only works if you tape off the sensor. The problem with this is if you alt tab or anything of the sort it throws the stick all over the place. Its loud and could potentially cause damage. If you do not tape the eye you litterly CAN'T take your hand off the stick or you will do an extreme nose down (only in the Black Shark fixed wing uses return to center). The LED's are useless if you like multiplayer (the altered LUA files cause integrity check) failures. Despite these faults I really like the stick but do not expect perfection. Honestly if WH was FFB I would have gotten that. But since I fly BS a lot the G940 more fit my needs. Unless your MOSTLY going to fly Black Shark get the WH. If it was FFB that is what I would have gotten. It is worth noting the FFB timming does not even really work properly with Black Shark. Yet my 10 year old Microsoft Force Feedback 2 worked perfectly. That says something. If my MSFFB2 had more buttons I would get rid of that G940.
