Some people do those things just because they do not know what they are doing. Like taking off the runway the wrong way, and team killing. They are not TRYING to be offensive. A lot of people that play this sim have NO IDEA how the navigation system works. They honestly do not know what direction they should land in because they can not read the HSI. They really do not know how to use the radar (I don't either personally but I fly ground attack aircraft so I do not need it.... yet). Do friendlies even show up on the radar when your playing single player? If not they may TK people because they are expecting it to work like in SP. Sometimes the problems in MP are caused by lack of knowledge, not jerks.

I prefer the F-14 if I am forced to stay in the list. Its a cool plane. It has a legacy. Also note that the more complicated aircraft they make the longer it takes to make it..... (avionics wise) If we could have any fixed wing I would say Su25T. The "other side" needs a good ground pounder of DCS quality (comparable to A-10c that is). If I could have any aircraft period I would choose a "blue side" helicopter. Reason being there is no way to tell if the Black Shark is on your side or enemy right now (visually). Does the A-10C have anti-radar capability? That should be a facotr to.

You know hyperlobby does sound like a good idea. I bet DCS would get a lot of converts that way.
-
The ILS IS hardwired to a specific runway direction. However, you can run opposite of the course arrow on the HSI if you wanted to land in the opposite direction. Note this would interfere with instrument landing and would require a visual landing. I would not try this in a multiplayer game unless you want to chance hitting another player head on. I am glad you liked my map IvanK

Well Tyger maybe I did not sample 74th. But I did hit 5 DCS TS's and not ONE person was on. War Hawks had a lot of people in TS but we do not run a public server so I did not average WH in. And these are TS's of servers that are pretty active. I am not talking about ONLINE activity. I am talking about TS activity specifically. From my perspective why play a coop flight sim online if your not even going to join TS. If your server requires use of TS that is a good start. "IMHO, you are trying to stir a pot of **** that doesn't exist." - Tyger Yeah, actually it does exist. As I stated before someone else has already tried to get this going. So at least one other person thought to consider it. I can understand how you would not be interested in this as you have a very specific agenda and vision. Some squads are a little looser on control and more inviting to beginning pilots that don't exhibit "excellence". Just because that does not fit into your vision Tyger doesn't mean its a pot of ****. Your more about rules and regs, I am more about community and online health. Just different agendas and styles I guess. From my perspective flight sims are a niche market and when someone tries a FC or DCS title they need to feel welcomed. Empty TS's (or TS's where squad member lock themselves in private rooms) and text chat of read the manual do not contribute to that feeling. I think we as a community need to realize these things are getting very complicated. It is different when you have grown with the genre than for someone trying it for the first time. I do not know much about 74th but it does not seem very friendly to new or inexperienced pilots. Do you keep your public server open to all skill levels? If you still offer the online public flight college I commend you for that innovative offering. It might sound a bit nicer advertised as a service rather than a "gift" though.

An F-14 or Harrier I guess. More F-14. Honestly, I would prefer another helicopter though.

Ha ha Tyger. I guess the real question is this. Is DCS going to bounce back? Seeing a bunch of empty teamspeaks is not a good sign. Regardless of new releases or the time of year. Oh and GGTharos "All your bases are belong to us" Would you guys even CONSIDER switching to a public TS with password protected squad rooms?
-
I have been on a few squad TS's lately and they are empty. Maybe a couple of people in them but nothing like say 3 months ago. Where is everybody? I do not understand why we have 25 teamspeaks to host a couple of people at a time each. We should have one teamspeak with several password protected rooms and one giant public room. What would be the difference between having a squad TS and having a section in a TS that only YOUR squad has access to? I think it would do a lot more to tighten up the community. I would like to note that an offer for this very thing has already been made but few people have taken advantage of it. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=76645

I fixed it. If this happens to you just download Notepad2 and save your file. Be sure to type .xml after the file name before saving. -
I need HELP (G940 profile recovery)
ZQuickSilverZ posted a topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I exported my FC2 profile. I made an error and wanted to reload the profile. However now it is saying it is not a Logitech game profile file. Here is the file can someone PLEASE help me convert it back. Please note this is not the file my Logitech Software exported. It has a file type of 0 and when I tried to post the file it said invalid file type. This is a copy paste save file. Thank you. FC2.txt -
Well.... I did watch the panel. I did see the knob turn. However, since it uses an acronym it was a bit tricky to figure it out. But after you explained it I understood it. Or at least I think I did. Let me ask just to verify. PRS = Pairs Drops a pair of bombs 1 time SGL = Single Drops 1 single bomb 1 time RIP PRS = Ripple Pairs Drops several pairs of bombs using a programmed ripple interval Rip SGL = Ripple Single Drops several single bombs using a programmed ripple interval Is that correct?

Thank you commbatace. That is exactly what I was looking for. Also Kuky your correct about the RWR/SPO I tested that today. Cali can you elaborate more on the "PRS\SGL Release Submode Cycles". I did see where it had the single / multi option. But it has 4 total options. 2 single and 2 multi. What is the difference between the two? Anybody want to take a crack at the "Altimeter Pressure" question? Does anybody know if this is modeled for FC 2.0? Can you even get the QFE of the field in FC 2.0 (I know you can in DCS: BS)? Obviously the main reason this would be important is for landing without the use of a radar altimeter (due to damage or component failure) in low visibility. But if its not modeled whats the point of setting it? Anybody got any answers? Do any of the "fast movers" have this function (the A-10A does not)?
-
Anybody want to tackle the "Cut Of Burst Select". I have yet to find 1 person that can answer what exactly that does. You guys up to the challange? Thank you Cali and Kuky I am two steps closer to understanding all the functions. Just a few questions left.

I have been playing Lock On Flaming Cliffs 2.0 for some time but have some questions I can't seem to figure out for myself. I would like the answers if you have them. A-10A 1. What are the "PRS\SGL Release Submode Cycles" (Left Shift + Spacebar)? 2. What exactly does the "Ship Take Off Position" do (U)? Su25T 1.What purpose does adjusting the "Altimeter Pressure" serve (Increase Right Shift + =)(Decrease Right Shift + -)? Does this Sim even model Barometrics to that detail? 2.What is "Cut Of Burst Select" (Left Shift + C)? I have not found 1 person that can answer this. I think it has something do do with the guns. Both What exactly does "RWR/SPO Mode Select" do (Right Shift + R)?

I think dooom and I are on the same page. He got my intent perfectly.

Wonder how long it will take for them to come out with Color E-Ink (I read there working on it). I wonder if you can even back light something like that. Have you guys ever heard of electrowetting. Supposedly this technology would be so cheap you could make disposable E-Readers. Apparently you can even put this on actual PAPER. Now that is impressive. It even supports color and is fast enough to do video. Are we close to a cheap, flexible, low power, disposable screen? http://gizmodo.com/5803426/what-is-an-electrowetting-display http://www.pcworld.com/article/194868/color_eink_electrowetting_brings_color_and_video_to_ebook_reader_screens.html http://www.geek.com/articles/gadgets/electrowetting-discovery-paves-way-for-disposable-paper-e-readers-20101124/ http://spie.org/x44337.xml?ArticleID=x44337

(First off I know I meet the MIN requirements. That being said MIN requirements does not always mean playable) I have Windows XP 32 bit. 2.66 Dual Core Pent D Processor. 4 Gigs of Ram (I know I ca not use it all) and a PNY 1GB GDDR5 GeForce GT 440 but it is in a PCI 16X and not a PCI X16 2.0 slot. Will this "upgrade" even be playable for me? :noexpression: I want it. But I do not want to buy something I can not even play. I play online 98 percent of the time. Can one of you official like a referee with a whistle ED guys get back with me?

Yeah my Nook is color also. Maybee you should consider the Kindle Fire it is also color and touch. It is cheaper to boot ($200). It also has REAL internet (or so I have heard). The pluses for an Ipad are you do not need Wi-Fi and it has a broader app base. The negatives are it is less portable and weighs more. Plus it will give your PC Apple coodies.

I made this post using a Nook Color. I love it. It is easy to use, is touch, has a great screen, and has REAL internet. I can read PDF's as well. I can even get Netflix.

Microsoft FFB2 joystick buying advice
ZQuickSilverZ replied to DaddySchlich's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hello. I am a MS Force Feedback 2 owner. It is the finest FFB stick. I also have the Logitech G940. The MS stick is heads and tails better. First off I have never seen a MSFFB2 that did NOT have USB. I think your referring to the Force Feedback Pro. They do have one that is similar cosmetically but it is NOT force feedback called the Precision 2. The difference in color on some MSFFB2 sticks can be noted on the triggers only. The MSFFB2's with the red triggers and buttons have a faster sampling rate. I don't think this matters much as my gray trigger and button MSFFB2 works perfectly. The only reason I got a G940 was as you stated lack of buttons. If I had it to do over again I would have just kept using the MS stick and gone this route. http://www.chproducts.com/retail/t_pro_throttle.html Please note the Macro options on the MSFFB2 software does NOT work with windows XP. -
Just comparing Tyger's answer with Dooom's shows two very different approaches. That is why I think this post has value. Honestly though, I was hoping to maybe find out what things might "tip the scales" and get people more involved with squads and therefore online play. A lot of people play DCS titles and have NEVER been online yet are active in the forums. That shows that they want to be a part of the DCS community yet, something is keeping them offline. Maybe we can find a way to entice those people to take the plunge. I think Tyger's 74th Virtual Flight Squadron Flight College (http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=74188) is a good start for instance. That shows evolution. War Hawks has also done some evolutionary training aids. Let's have more of that.

I am curious what people most value in a squad. I believe this post will help online squads better tailor themselves to public want. Is there anything you desire that current squads do not offer? What tendencies do squads have that annoy you? If you are not in a squad, why? I am especially interested to hear from people that have never been in a squad what they think would be important, as they have no preconceptions of what a squad "should" be.

Has anyone considered giving a copy of Black Shark 2 (or A-10C) as a Christmas gift. It is a good excuse to introduce someone to the sim. Just think about it. Just consider it. Just do it. (Nike just sued me)
