Can you go into servers as an observer without having to actually fly? Sometimes I like to watch others going at it to see their ACM capabilities. Rather than just seeing it on Youtube.

My wife's 2 years older than me and she still wouldn't get it...LOL.

I was 15 when the first Star Wars came out in the theaters. Was watching the original series star Trek on TV every afternoon after school when you only had channels 2, 6 & 9 in Florida. AHHH to be that age again!!

VERY COOL!! WELL DONE !!

FYI I've got a 512 SSD on my G3 laptop and DCS has eaten up about all of my storage space. And I only have about 8 plane modules and a couple of campaigns loaded. Been having to delete other programs or games every time I want a new module. As of now I'm down to 2 other games besides DCS. I'm getting ready to build a new desktop and plan on getting TB size HDs for it.

Got it. Watched Jabbers video. Thanks.

I am using a 50" 2160p 4K UHD that I recently got at a Best Buy sale. As close as I sit the cockpit fills up most of my screen. I would like to set up a curve that requires me to move my head at a 1:1 or a 1:2 while I'm looking the cockpit controls but as soon as my vision goes outside the cockpit it moves to a lot larger parameters. That way by looking at the edge of the monitor I would be looking behind me or "check six". Add this to the binding the zoom feature to the TM range button on the throttle and I have a large variable of views. I can zoom out while scanning the skies and then zoom in using the range knob when looking closer or staying nose on when dogfighting. I mirror the yaw axis so it's the same on both sides but on the pitch I don't need to see as far down as I do when looking up outside the cockpit. Only need to see down as far as the control stick but like to be able to look straight up above me when looking up. Excuse the mess. As I said it's my out of town man-cave..lol.

OMG!! The discussion had gone from talking about the F-5E to about the developers putting out incomplete mods. ie, referencing some of the other mods/planes..... I was just confirming that all the recent and harsh mod negativity on the last few post were being directly solely at the F-5. Which it's a shame "if" this module is that incomplete/buggy seeing as high it's one of the higher priced ones. People should get what they pay for.
-
If you look thru the thread you'll see where the discussion started drifting off to other aircraft. That's all. No need for the rudeness!

Are we still Talking about the F-5E???

With Logitech you can also map the controls on the mouse with the software they provide. Used it in War Thunder operating tank turrets.

Actually my newer scroll wheel mouse on the left is the only one plugged in. The other is a Logitech MX Ergo trackball mouse. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/logitech-mx-ergo-plus-wireless-trackball-mouse-graphite/6080600.p?skuId=6080600&ref=212&loc=1&extStoreId=510&ref=212&loc=DWA&ds_rl=1260402&gclid=Cj0KCQjwjer4BRCZARIsABK4QeV0sxPoPgZVO7xggPu21X747UTvH0Rk3Vbtyf3YHSPdAg7E8ir1EUUaAs8XEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds It uses a Bluetooth/Unify where I can run up to 6 Logitech wireless devises thru one USB "dongle" as they call it. This way because I'm out of town all week I can have the same keyboard/mouse setup at my job, my out of town rental house and at home. Although I don't have MX Ergo at all 3 locations...lol. Not at $100 for each. I only use the MX Ergo at the rental house/Man cave where my flight sim setup is currently at. For the other two locations I just use the standard Logitech Trackball. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/logitech-m570-wireless-trackball-mouse-gray-blue/1260761.p?skuId=1260761 To answer your question you can hook up as many as you want. You just can't try to use both at the same time. They'll conflict.

If I'm not mistaken there is a keyboard control where you can toggle the control stick on and off at will. So when you need to see something you can make the stick go away while you perform the function and then bring it back. Same goes for having visible pilot in cockpit I believe.

Putting it together has never been my problem. It's knowing how to program everything once it's built. -
Playing Music In Cockpit??
msmith301 replied to msmith301's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I was reading the unit broadcasting section in the manual. I only have 5 or 6 main tracks I'm looking to use. Some for just cruising to and from objective and some a little more upbeat for actual engagements. Want to be able to switch from track to track using the UHF knob. (If possible) Problem is all my tracks are .mp3. How do you change them to an .ogg file? -

Wouldn't the music have to be edited into the file system manually to come on as one of the radio frequencies? Or do they let you do this in the mission editor. Was going thru the manual last night and don't remember reading anything on it. [EDIT] Just scrolled further thru the manual and it seems this area of the mission editor is quite extensive. -

Playing Music In Cockpit??

"Robin Takolander" you out there? How you do that in your F-86. You've got us all stumped.... -
Tried it but I got some guy wiping jell all over his balls!! Just kidding..If I see that Manscape commercial one more time I swear.... Checking out video now. Thanks. [update] Just watched video. No not the guy greasing his ca-hones...lol Anyway it was very informative. There were a lot of tweaks and things to setting up the TrackIR I didn't realize where there. I especially liked how he keeps flying and brings up the TrackIR window so he can make fine tune adjustments while he's flying.

Playing Music In Cockpit??
msmith301 replied to msmith301's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
All this information is great but nobody has really answered the question about how he was able to program the music to come on when he used the UHF control knob on the right hand console in the cockpit. -
I keep seeing this "smoothing". What is that? Is that a DCS thing or something for TrackIR. I don't use the zoom feature or "Z" track on the TrackIR. Feels very uncomfortable and annoying leaning in your monitor to zoom. Instead I have bound the antenna range knob on my throttle control to the zoom control. It has a center point and I can turn it very easily with my left pointer finger by just rotating it back and forth. Actually works very well for this. I also have the snap zoom view for the HUD set up.

I was considering that same thing but decided to keep it simple. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07YVMXLQC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I also want to get this for all the key commands so I can get rid of the combination key commands on the keyboard. It's a little pricey but would be worth it for some of the more modern aircraft that have a slew of keyboard commands that you can program over to this. https://www.amazon.com/XK-24-USB-Programmable-Keypad-Windows/dp/B0092SJ8YU/ref=sr_1_17_sspa?crid=2EZU4M3NYRILR&dchild=1&keywords=xkeys%2Bprogrammable%2Bkeypad&qid=1594265365&sprefix=X%2BKeys%2Caps%2C186&sr=8-17-spons&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEyUlFSRDFWTTNCQ1dNJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwNTk0NjEyM0MyWU1RR1RWSTVPVCZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwMzU2MTg3MTlXREdCUklPV0I3UiZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0Zl9uZXh0JmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ&th=1 This thing also has clear key covers so you can do labeling. You can get it anywhere from 24 keys to 80 keys.

I to started using the left hand mouse. Easier to take hand off throttle to make adjustments than it is to let go of the joystick in the middle of flight. Especially in the mountains and/or close to the ground. Always crash so after looking around I found this little jewel. Has a center track ball with a horizontal mouse wheel that tracks around the ball. This was absolutely the best $40. I ever spent on a mouse. [Tried to attach thumbnail but it won't let me because it says it's already attached in another thread.....Yeah so!!] Here's the thread in case you're interested. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=280458 Sorry didn't mean to double post. Don't know how that happened.

OK what if I went the other way an put one together. Since I haven't built a computer in over 15 years I don't know squat about what's out there or how much.. What would be best to not go over say $1,200.00 and how fast would it be?
