  1. Hi Guy's, new to the A-4, it's a pretty cool addition, thank you. Anyway, just wondering why the centre of the sight reticule doesn't line up with the centre of the reflector glass? (See picture attached.) I know you can adjust it up and down for various bombing runs etc but when using guns, the tracers show the bullets in the middle of the reticule as you would want but on the very top of the reflector glass. This way you can't see the top half of the reticule which helps with leading the shot. Is the pilots head position to high? Is this how it's meant to be? Cheers, Aussie Pilot.
  2. Hi Brother_Leb, when you say the changes you make in the SimAppPro write to the hardware, does that mean direct to the Orion2 base itself? I've been reading several threads about the Orion2 base and F/A18 stick and throttle, which I'll be receiving in the coming days and was really hoping to avoid using the SimAppPro and just programme everything directly to DCS key and Axis bindings. Is this possible, what I've been reading suggests so? Cheers.
  3. Hi everyone, Happy New Year! So, my Orion2 and F/A 18 Throttle & Stick are just days away from arriving. Thank you all for the input in the thread, a good heads up for me. Not having received it yet, I believe gives me a get out of jail free card for a possible dumb question. Do you have to use the SimAppPro in order to use this kit or can you just programme direct to DCS key and axis bindings?

Hi everyone, When George is pilot and you are Gunner in H-B mode trying to lase a target, (or any mode for that matter), will he automatically evade an incoming missile and fire flares without you telling him to? I haven't used him as pilot properly yet. I usually do everything from the pilot seat and just get him to search for and lase targets for me. I know when I'm in the pilot seat you don't have a lot of time to move out of a Stingers path and fire off flares, so I can't imagine how long it will take George to bug out if we come under attack.
  5. Thanks guys, I may just do that. I don't recall ever seeing anyone in the tower though before, so I'm guessing although they are considered armed, they don't actually have a visible soldier in them.
  6. Is it possible to place troops in a watch tower? I want to do an Apache attack on an enemy compound that has watchtowers. The watchtowers will be set to immortal so there are still useable when we escort Chinooks in afterwards to reoccupy the same compound with friendly troops. I'm hoping to try my first disembark set up that will see the troops disembark the Chinook and follow waypoints into the captured compound, hence not wanting to destroy the watchtowers.
  7. You can set a trigger that when the first group is dead it will then activate the second group. Make sure you have late activation set on the second group. Check the attached picture. You can also do as Rudel said but it gets more in depth. With the flags you can enter how long after your first group has died before your second group spawns if you like. I also check the time it takes a unit to fly from the spawn area to the area you want them to be and then move the unit back and forth until you get a good time frame to suit.

  9. Hi guys, just an update. New SSD installed and sim copied and pasted. Created new short cut and the game works fine. Deleted old game off the old drive and it's all working fine. Point to remember though... I didn't realise my two M.2 SSD slots were actually different. I originally bought a second SATA SSD because my current one was an SATA SSD. Turns out slot one supports SATA and PCIe, but slot two only supported PCIe SSD's. Luckily I was able to return the drive and swap it. Happy ending. Also, started the game, got in flight and took some screen shots which showed up in the current saved games folder, no changes needed. Thank you all for your help.
  10. Thanks guys for all this info, I was going to ask about the Saved games folder but you all beat me to it. Thanks you BitMaster for covering that. I hope to pick up the new 1TB SSD tomorrow, same type just 1TB instead of 500gb. I have another M.2 slot available as well. Once installed and formatted, or whatever it needs to do, I will copy and paste my DCS from my main SSD to the new SSD and create a new short cut to start it. ( I know how to do that ) Once I start it from the new drive and it all goes well I will delete DCS off my main SSD and just keep that for my OS. All my other sims are on a 2TB normal hard drive. Now at least I'll have a dedicated SSD for DCS only, damn game is getting to big. Thanks again.
  11. Hi Everyone, So as my sim gets bigger my SSD space is getting less and less. I only have 500g ssd which includes my operating system. I have two questions please. 1) Can you have two SSD on your motherboard? 2) If so, can I just transfer my whole DCS and contents from one SSD to another i.e. drag and drop or cut and paste, how easy is it to do and what complications can arise from doing so. Or do I have to do an uninstall/reinstall ? Thanks for any idea's. Cheers. Aussie Pilot.
  12. Well after being inundated with helpful messages I actually figured it out and thought I'd share what I found for others. Under trigger actions there is "Group AI off" and "Group AI on" which basically turns them off and on. You can have them in your mission staring at one another but they won't engage one another until the trigger turns them on to do so. I found it helpful in that when you fly into the area you don't all of a sudden have everything spawn all at once right in front of you and start blazing away.
  13. Hi Guy's. I'm making an Apache mission where we fly in to support ground troops under attack from insurgents. However by the time we get there most of the fighting is over. Currently I have a trigger set to spawn the enemy insurgents as we fly into the area but ideally I would like both groups of AI in place from mission start but not to attack one another until the Apaches arrive. I don't understand how to set the ROE for either side so that they will hold fire until we arrive in the Apaches and set off a trigger for them to attach each other. I can't find much info on this one anywhere. Thank you.
  14. You know Swift, I didn't even think about this point you made. It all makes sense now. You got to work within the parameters of your Flir and doing as you have said here will work. Clearly I was thinking to hard when questioning this, lol. Thanks for your answers, they were helpful.
  15. Yeah I saw they were using that but can it really look behind you while you flying up towards the sky? I thought the gimbal had limits and was more for forward facing.
  16. I've just seen the new Top Gun movie, thought it was great, they did a good sequel and there will always be debatable scenes etc I guess but... My question to those in the know about lasing targets... *POSSIBLE MOVIE SPOILER ALERT* if you haven't seen it yet. Is it possible for them to continue lasing that target on their climb out of the target area with the target now behind them as they are flying skyward ? You see them trying to keep vision on the screen and manoeuvre the button to keep the laser on target while pulling 7-9g's and almost blacking out. I've always thought you would loose lock once you're past the target let alone climbing up and away from it. Can the litening pod see behind you?

  19. Well thanks Rudel_chw but that didn't work either. I don't actually own the F-14 by Heatblur, I'm just using the F-14 that comes in the sims main coremods as an enemy plane flown by Iran. It's just that the stock Livery for it is only a US paint scheme, hence wanting some Iranian skins. I'm guessing these one's you're helping me install are intended to be used with the F-14 from Heatblur and because I don't own it they don't work. When I put those skins in the livery folder of the coremod F-14 they show up in the list in the ME but don't show on the aircraft when I select one. Thanks for your help though, much appreciated.

  21. Thank you but it didn't work. I created a F-14A folder and put the liveries in there. When in mission editor I select F-14A for ai aircraft and the paint scheme is available to select but it doesn't show on the aircraft in the ME or in game. I wonder if for ai enemy aircraft they need to go somewhere else.
