  1. +1 I had the same problem with my CH rudder pedals. Reversed the axis and all now works well.
  2. I have no experience with Voicemeeter, so I can't offer any advice on that issue. I will be using a separate external USB sound card ($15) solely for feeds from the SimShaker Sound Module directly to my bass shaker.
  3. Are using a separate sound card for the SimShaker Sound Module to direct the special sound effect files to? By using 2 sound cards, normal DCS sounds go to your speaker system that is being fed by your primary sound card. The special effects vibration files are then directed by the SimShaker module to the second sound card. It is also a good idea to have a power amp for the bass shakers that includes a bass frequency filter (crossover frequency adjustment) that you can adjust to cut-off certain frequencies from going to the bass shakers.
  4. For bass shakers in DCS, I believe that your need both SimShaker for Aviators and the SimShaker Sound Module. I am just getting ready to add bass shakers to my system and have been reading about the required software. Andre's web page explains all the required software modules.
  5. Does the SimShaker sound module software have a Menu that allows you to select the sound card that will be used with the software? I am planning on ordering an Aura bass shaker and an external USB sound card. Wanted to make sure that I could still direct the normal DCS sound files to my speaker system while directing the Simshaker vibration effects only to the bass shaker.
  6. Thanks. Also, is your amp connected to a second, external sound card for SimShaker?
  7. KiloBravo, What model of amplifier are you using, also how many watts?
  8. Thanks for the suggestion. Done
  9. I am interested in setting up a bass shaker system to run with the SimShaker software. I would like to get some opinions on the hardware that other people are using. At the present, I am thinking about buying the "Aurasound AST-2B-4 Pro Bass Shaker" (50 watts) which has a 20 to 80 Hz frequency range. Will that frequency range be suitable for use with the SimShaker software, i.e., is there any need to go below 20 Hz, or above 80 Hz? The "ButtKicker" transducers are too expensive for my budget. The other 2 questions are: 1. What models of power amps are you guys using? 2. Also, what model of external USB sound cards are you connecting to the power amp? I am assuming that the inexpensive ones that cost around $10 will suffice?
  10. I am interested in getting a base shaker system and the SimShaker software. I recently started another thread on "Bass Shaker & Power Amp Equipment", to which Snake122 offered several helpful comments. Thought I would ask one of the questions here as well. I think I will be buying the "Aurasound AST-2B-4 Pro Bass Shaker" which has a 20 to 80 Hz frequency range. Is that all we need to get the full experience from the SimShaker software, i.e., is there any need to go below 20 Hz, or above 80 Hz?
  11. Thanks for the replies. I'll do a little more online research. I see there is quite a difference in the frequency response of the "Aurasound AST-2B-4 Pro Bass Shaker" compared to the "Buttkicker mini LFE" (huge price difference reflects that). Need to educate myself a little more on the best frequency response for flight sims with the SimShaker software. The Aurasound shakers have a 20 to 80 Hz frequency range. Is that all we need to get the full experience from the SimShaker software, i.e., is there any need to go below 20 Hz?
  12. I would have to get a separate sound card to use with the SimShaker software. I was hoping that one of the inexpensive, external USB sound cards would work. I see that the BSA-200 200W amp has a USB port. So, I assume that I would just plug that USB sound card into the USB port on the amp and the other end into my powered USB hub and we would be all set up? Do you use an external sound card? Also, I assume that there would be no problem connecting just one bass shaker to the amp, i.e., any special connections to make that work properly? Guess I would just select the "bridge mode" for use with a single shaker.
  13. So I assume the Dayton Bass Pucks just don't have quite the acoustic punch that the bigger BST-1 has? Do you think just one BST-1 would suffice, being attached under the top panel of the plywood box that my chair is bolted onto? Would 2 of the Pucks give an equivalent vibration effect at just a single BST-1? I would not want any sound to be coming from the transcucer, just vibration. Sounds like the Aura model you referenced bleeds some sound.
  14. Very interested in getting a bass shaker setup for my home cockpit chair. It sits on a wooden box, picture attached. Rather than just buying one of the pre-packaged "Buttkicker" kits, I was thinking that one might be able to get a better quality and lower priced setup by shopping around and buying the bass transducers and power amp separately. How does this combination look for $245 delivered: 1. Dayton Audio BST-1 High Power Pro Tactile Bass Shaker 50 Watts ($70) 2. Dayton Audio BSA-200 200W Bass Shaker Bridgeable Stereo Amplifier with Remote ($175). Anyone using either one of these components? By comparison the ButtKicker BKA-130-C Power Amplifier ($180), paired with the ButtKicker mini LFE ($120), totals $300.
  15. I was flying at Nellis in 1968 and took some in-flight pictures from an F-4 in Sept 1968. The pictures are posted under the NTTR map topic at: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=266738 They are not all taken during mid-day, and were taken with a cheap pocket camera. A couple of the pics show the sunlit landscape. So, you can make some approximate comparisons to how close the DCS map looks to these photos.
  16. Do you have "Mirrors" On or Off? Makes about a 10 fps difference on my machine, running an RTX 2070 Super, i7-9700k.
  17. So, do you have to buy some special software to make the bass shakers work right?
  18. Yes, I have read all the work-arounds that folks have tried, some more successfully than others. I was just curious as to why Natural Point seems to not want to address the issue (which they surely know about) with some sort of improvement to their product. I can only assume they will not be motivated to do so until they connect that issue to a negative impact on their sales.
  19. This Track IR refresh rate issue seems to be a well documented and frustrating problem that has generated a significant amount of dis-pleasure across a broad spectrum of gaming forums on the Internet. Given all the negative discussion that it has received, I am puzzled that Natural Point has seemingly made no effort to improve/update their product to help out their customer base. Almost sounds like they don't care.
  20. Doesn't that seem to point to Track IR being the problem?
  21. Thanks for that reply Art-J. I think I will just wait awhile and see if Natural Point, or other head-tracking manufacturers, come up with some improvements/updates to better deal with monitor refresh rates. Not something that I want to waste my time dealing with, given my limited technical knowledge of such issues.
  22. I have been researching other comments on Track IR on the DCS forums and have found several posts about incompatibilities regarding modern monitor variable refresh rates and the scan/refresh rates of the Track IR camera/software, and having to cap fps in DCS. These incompatibilities are causing stuttering/micropauses in the onscreen view. Seems that people are having to adjust refresh rates and play around with other video tuning apps in an effort make TrackIR play nice with different monitor refresh rates in DCS. I am not technically knowledgeable about all this stuff, but is sounds like a major PIA for a lot of people. If I were to buy headtracking equipment, I would want it to work out of the box without having to be a computer wizard to figure out some type of work-around. I don't fully understand all the technical conflicts that were being discussed between TrackIR, different monitor refresh rates, and capped DCS fps, but it doesn't sound that Plug & Play friendly.
  23. What hardware are you using with that software?
  24. Anyone using the "TrackHat clip plus head tracking kit", or, UTC Mk II? Both have a much sturdier LED clip that Track IR5.
  25. Yes, I have looked at some of the other cheaper options, but none seem quite as user friendly and include as many features as Track IR. Yep, they do seem to have a monopoly and they are capitalizing on it. Thanks for the answers about the overhead lights and wearing glasses. Might have to get the credit card out and give it a try. Just got into DCS a few months ago and am already frustrated with fumbling around with the viewing capabilities being mapped to HOTAS switches - kind of impacting the immersion.
