No, Rhen. I can see that it can't reach that speed at 95%. What I'm noticing is that the the ops limit is different for the different trim settings. From those charts it appears that on an STD -20C day, the 95% trim should be able to reach M2.5 at angels 41.5 whereas the 102% trim would be limited to ~ M2.38 at the same alt. Of course, I'm assuming the increase of performance with lower temperatures continues at least somewhat linearly. But regardless, the limits are different.
-
Someone please explain the difference in design limit in reaching M2.5 because of engine trim. Why does the trim setting of 95% allow the 15 to reach M2.5 at angels 41.5 when M2.5 can't be reached until angels 45 at 102% trim?
-
If the relationship of top velocity in level flight and temperature is somewhat linear, it's easy to see that even at 95% trim, the F-15 should reach M2.5 on a day that is at 0C or below at MSL. That shouldn't be too uncommon.

I think it's 15C. (Quite apropos, no?)
-
This is a silly argument. As the graph indicates, borchi may be correct at a given engine trim and temperature. And in fact, the charts show that at various trim and temps, it is more likely that the F-15 WON'T reach M2.5 in level flight. I really don't know but, it very well could be that a pilot has never flown his Eagle at trim settings above 95%. Thus, the only way he could reach M2.5 is in a dive from altitude. (Unless, maybe it was a very cold day?)

I'd be more inclined to vote yes for the F-20 if it was more successful. Too bad it didn't make it against the F-16.

Probably the distance to the ship when the hornets reach the Attack waypoint. Could you zip the mission file and post it here?

The plain fact is that if an F-15 pilot makes a good shot and holds lock until 15km, chances are that the missile won't hit its target. There was a time he could fire a single missile and feel pretty confident about the results. I've personally seen missile after missile fired within the NEZ with a hard lock fail to hit anything. This is not to say that other radar missiles are any better because they are not. This is common knowledge. Firing multiple missiles in 1.12a is not the same thing as spamming in 1.02. Although firing them 1-2-3 in rapid succession is just as stupid and lame. If the first one misses, they're all going to miss. Regarding what is quoted above, I'm really not sure what you mean. But using the fact that the 120 gets more hits than the ER does not mean the 120 isn't bad. It IS bad. The ER is worse. And it should be worse. But, again, none of the radar missiles should be as bad as they are in 1.12a. And if by "RF" you mean Red Flag, I'm not so sure that the 120 has a better PK than the R-77. The one thing that is definite is that the ET is clearly the most lethal missile in 1.12a.

Maddog is when you fire without a lock, letting the missile itself acquire the target.
-
It all seems like a silly effort when all that's really needed is to assign the missile motors actual thrust. The drag is already there.

Selecting multiple targets in TWS mode close together
S77th-GOYA replied to tmdgm's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Zooming (in FC) doesn't really help but yes, you should really be in the lowest range setting possible to try and get some definition between the a/c in the flight. Bugging four fighters in a flight is pretty much impossible. It seems like it used to be easier. I made a TWS tutorial track but it only plays on version 1.11. It is available at Lockonfiles.com. http://www.lockonfiles.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=getit&lid=408#dl -
Using a fire and forget missile to demonstrate that HOJ is fire and forget? Nobody limited any of this HOJ discussion to ARH missiles. Consider a Sparrow and the term "conditionally" still applies. Besides that, the 120 (ingame) still doesn't go active until the same ~7-8nm range if fired in HOJ. Do you have any data showing that it goes active farther away in the real world?
-
I've been trying to locate the thread where someone in the know says that a different radar painting a target fired on in HOJ is not likely to keep the missile tracking. No luck so far. But even if you are correct, a HOJ shot would still only be conditionally fire and forget because an outside element is still required. This track shows that 1.12a is not modeled that way. 1. Yes, 2. I wouldn't close the throttle because another thing you should do is evade. Try going full military power, flaring and make a high-G maneuver just before the missile reaches you. 3. The look-down capability of the F-15 is painfully lacking in LOMAC. You probably aren't doing anything wrong. But if you are at angels 20-30 and the target is right below you, haven't they reached burn-through? 4. They should get a warning when the 120 goes active at ~ 7nm or if you launch closer than that, they will get a warning when the 120 comes off the rail. The only way they would get a launch warning beyond ~7nm is if you had an STT lock.

I'm not GG but look at my post here for your answer: http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=26785 NCTR doesn't work beyond 25nm range to target. Also, my advice to you is to get better at putting your scan cone where it needs to be. The following represents you at 2000ft and your target at 20,000 ft at a range of 9nm. It is made to scale. The blue represents your scan cone. Note that you have plenty of room in your cone at that range to keep the bandit illuminated. Here's what it looks like in pit: I would suggest that if you wait for a lock in one of the auto-modes at that range, your going to be busy picking missiles out of your teeth. Learn to use TWS and use it as much as you can. At closer ranges it becomes a problem keeping the target in the cone, but not at the ranges you are talking about.

The jammer jams the frequency which is painting/locking it. If a wingman of SAM was painting it instead of the original shooter, the target would be not be emitting what the missile is trying to home on. A hand-off might be possible, but you should not be able to simply fire and go home. And yes, I'm talking about what SHOULD be modeled, not what exists in LOMAC now. Which reminds me, I was in the same TS channel as an enemy Su-25T recently and I heard him report being locked when I locked his jam in my F-15. I thought F-15 radars were not supposed to give a warning of lock or launch in HOJ mode.
-
Have you tried older drivers? It seems like newer ones have lost optimizations for LOMAC.
