I decided to leave it as is. Seems to be working fine. I suspect Windows 10 has integrated the calibration procedure.

My Delta Sim mod arrived and I just installed it this morning. Mechanically, it all went smoothly, and the Windows 10 game controller app shows it's working fine. I skipped the TM Sensor Calibration Tool setup stage since some persons reported they were having huge problems with it (one person even reported it bricked his TM Warthog throttle), and used the Windows 10 game controller calibration tool, which seems to have worked fine. I just tested it flying the FA-18 and so far so good. So, question: Should I still go ahead and use the TM Sensor Calibration Tool?

Hey folks, I noticed Matric offers axis and encoder virtual levers and knobs now. Does anyone know if these work well with DCS? I only own an iPad, and Matric only works on Android, so I'd have to buy an Android tablet to check it out. If it is confirmed to work well, I'll get it.

Thanks for a thorough and well thought out opinion. I think I am going to go ahead and order the stick, but I'm going to pass on the throttle. I'm entirely happy with the TM throttle.

This is a great review. I am giving serious thought to replacing my beloved Warthog stick with the Winwing F-16EX, but only if the upgrade is a substantial improvement in quality. I was going to order one a couple weeks back but could not find any reviews as the product is so new. I know this is a subjective question, but how would you compare the general "feel" and sense of accuracy you get from the Winwing Orion base compared to the Warthog stick's base? I am asking because I keep hearing of issues with stiction and sticky components. Either Thrustmaster has gotten better at producing the Warthog bases or I just got super lucky because my own is buttery smooth and the spring is not that heavy.

Would love to get your thoughts on it.

Nyogel 767a in Canada and alternatives
Cerulean replied to Cerulean's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks very much. I looked into Overready. Might be worth it to order a couple of them. Same S&H for up to several. -
I've seen it. It looks interesting but is pretty specific to the FA-18. I'd rather have something more generic so it can apply to other aircraft.
-
It's the one thing I don't like about the Warthog HOTAS. With the mod, I am sure I'll be happy with it for years. Now if someone out there would just invent a panel with a dozen rotary knobs and a few sliders on it for aircraft systems, that would be perfect.

Ordered one yesterday! So looking for to it! I've heard so many good things about it.

I am sure they are, but the exchange between Canadian dollars and Euros is terrible, so I can't imagine getting a Virpil base any time soon. I'm a huge fan of Virpil, and I'd love to have Virpil hardware, but it's a pipe dream. Still, I was super lucky with my TM HOTAS--the stick is buttery smooth and the spring has lightened up with use. It's very controllable.

Any Fix for Looseness/Play Between Grip Handle and Connector Shaft?
Cerulean replied to Hawkeye91's topic in Thrustmaster
I fixed this myself just two nights ago. Open the grip by taking out all the screws. It comes apart easily. Tighten the screw at the very base of the interior. Use Loctite and problem solved permanently. -
Does anyone know where I might find a dealer of nyogel 767a in Canada. If not, what is a good alternative to it?

I was really contemplating replacing my TM Warthog throttle, but the thing is, yeah, it's a little dated, but I really, really, really love the Warthog ecosystem. I have the TPR pedals and the Warthog stick and throttle. They are all new. I bought the HOTAS only a little over a year ago, and the TPR maybe 8 months ago. I love the solid feel, they're well built and they do what they're supposed to do. (I really thought hard about getting the WW Orion but just couldn't get over those exposed flexing wires. I have a diploma in electronics, and it screams maintenance problem to me.) But the only reason I was looking at replacing the TM Warthog throttle at all is because of that crappy ministick. But on the advice of a few folk here, I ordered the Deltasim ministick upgrade. I've started a new flight/space sim channel so I guess I'll film the installation process. As my Warthog is pretty new, maybe something will be different under the hood. Updates to come.

That explains why I can't find any info on it. But people seem generally happy with Winwing, and it is amazingly in stock. I think I am going to go for it. I really love my Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS, but that bloody bizarre cell phone mouse button they use for a ministick is absurd and nearly useless. I know I could upgrade it, but the exchange rate nearly doubles the cost of the Deltasim mod. After S&H, that little mod is 2/3 the price of F-16EX stick. Besides, I have read the Winwing base is far superior to the Warthog base. And it's 47% off on their store right now! While a lot of people seem to love the Orion throttle, I don't care for it. Just a personal preference (I find buttons and switches behind the throttle nearly useless). But I am otherwise very happy with the TM Warthog throttle, and I prefer the F-16 style of stick to the F-18. The big, hefty switches look awesome on the stick, and it would finally give enough extra buttons to handle coms to Discord, Vaicom and Simple Radio, plus a mini-stick, plus a lever access, plus a progressive button arm! Looks awesome! I'll be doing a review too on the channel I have just started. I also prefer a stick because I really need momentary switches and buttons as I do space sims, too.

Does anyone have any experience with the F-16EX joystick? I know it's not exactly a replica, but it looks like a great solution to the chronic lack of buttons and axes so many simmers suffer.
-
I would love to get a Virpil CM3 but the exchange between Canadian and Euro dollars is a killer. My wife would kill me if I spent that much on a throttle.
-
Thanks. At least I can stop wondering if I need to reset the satellite system.
-
Anyone else finding the WinWing North America site down today? Not a critique. I'm on satellite internet and just wondering if it's a glitch on my end.
-
There are some very helpful answers here, thank you. I think I am going to not get the Winwing throttle for three reasons. Momentary switches are more flexible in a variety of sims and work better with space sims. A lot of people have complained about the Winwing configuration app. And that exposed moving wire with two buttons right under them that sort of makes those buttons useless, plus I will never trust in the longevity those exposed, perpetually flexing wires. I would be more inclined to get the Winwing throttle if the exposed wires were easily replaceable but as I understand it, Winwing doesn't sell replacements nor do the throttles come with spares. I used to repair electronics, and those moving wires look like a problem waiting to happen to me.

Hey folks, I was just wondering if anyone has any news about the VKB Tecs throttle. When it might be coming available. That is a piece of hardware I am really looking forward to, especially as I am upgrading my equipment as I prepare to launch a flight/space sim channel.
-
I know this question has been asked before, but I was hoping for more recent opinions. I am thinking of ordering an Orion throttle as I am beginning a new channel on flight and space sims and need something with more options than my Warthog throttle. How has everyone's experiences been with the Winwing Orion? Also, I know persons were having trouble adapting the rotary dials to DCS. Has a solution been found?

On the Nevada map (at least using the F-16 Red Flag campaign; haven't tried with others) bodies of water at night are so brightly lit they look like light sources.
-
In the Red Flag campaign, the F-16 is lit by the bright external lighting of the parking area during startup as it should be. But the lighting effect remains on the aircraft and in the cockpit even after the aircraft has pulled away from the parking area and even when airborne. The lighting is following the aircraft and maintaining a fixed position over it. Not only weird but it makes the cockpit too bright to fly at night.
