  1. Hi guys, I am hopeful that someone will create a compiler/de-compiler utility for the .lsa2 file. Bazar>Terrain>Surface>High>land.lsa2 This file contains pointers to land tetures. I believe it also contains elevation and map coordinate data. Any help with this would be much appreciated.
  2. Hey MonnieRock, In your avatar, you have a head-banging bear. He was all over the net a few years back. Have you got a link to those videos. They used to crack me up!
  3. I do agree with you there. All I know is that I want to fly the BlackShark through the 3D environment of Project Gotham3. Check out this vid: http://www.planetxbox360.com/downloads/Project%20Gotham%20Racing%203/11344505751.wmv
  4. link to the vid http://www.gametrailers.com/player.php?id=9496&pl=game&type=wmv I still think Lock-on's graphics are better. lock-On definitely renders distance MUCH further away. Judging by the distance rendering, the graphics in the above pics are more akin to F22 Raptor than to Lo-MAc.
  5. Thanks for the info, Birdy.
  6. http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=13997 Does anyone know how modifying the .SCN file was done? Any information would be much appreciated. I'm hoping the software used will be able to read the map files, as well. This could be a new beginning for users making maps for lockon. I have lots of Iraq satellite imagery already. It would be real easy to get the elevation data and voila...new map.

  8. lockonfiles seems to be back up :)
  9. hehe rgr, was just typing that it may only be a cover, when I saw that u posted that :)
  10. I'm definitely starting to think the limits of the seeker head of the Vikhr are locked in a fixed position. Judging by this picture, I'd say the seeker cannot look dead-ahead. It appears the seeker can only view about 45 degrees off the centerline of the missile. I doubt the seeker for this missile has any gimbals at all; after all, the less moving parts, the cheaper it is to make. Top 2 Vikhr's point 45 deg. up, bottom 4 point 45 deg. down. http://www.lockon.ru/img/products/large/204.jpg Of course, that may only be a protective covering that I'm seeing...anyone got any screenies/pictures of the Vikhr in the air?
  11. Hi. For some reason, the index works, but the main page doesn't. Try this link: http://www.lockonfiles.com/index.php
  12. Yes please. :) At least according to this, it seems we were both a bit off. http://www.geocities.com/CapeCanaveral/Hangar/6846/aim-9.html "The Sidewinder got its name from the fact that in early tests, the IR seeker was in a fixed mounting slightly off the missile's centerline, so when the missile spun in flight the target appeared to move, from the missile's point of view, causing it to constantly issue course "corrections" to keep the target centered. This probelem was later solved in later models." Of course, other websites say that the sidewinder got its name because it seeks out the heat of its prey, like the sidewinder snake. I had a video that explained the reason for the erratic behavior of early sidewinders being due to the gimbal restriction. But, who knows where the heck I put that? http://64.233.179.104/search?q=cache:RvMG4NOwpb0J:www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/missile/aim-9.htm+infrared+seeker+gimbal&hl=en&gl=us&ct=clnk&cd=2
  13. Hi GGTharos, to which missile are you referring to?
  14. Hmm. I guess I just assumed that the Vikhir had a spiral flight path for the same reason that early Aim-9 versions would fishtail. The Aim-9 was originally called a sidewinder because the gimbal limit of the seeker head prevented it from looking dead ahead, thus the squirrely flight path. This, of course, was corrected in later versions.
  15. I hope so. Lock On had one. Flaming Cliffs had one. It makes sense for Black Shark to have one.
  16. Jetfire, Once this program goes "gold" will you be submitting it to lockonfiles and combatace? I sure hope so!
  17. Since the days of Flanker, every upgrade and/or patch has had changes to the missile's effectiveness and flight characteristics. Same goes for aircraft FM, avionics...the list goes on... It would be nice if ED posted the RL values (with sources for those values) they are using, so the end user could compare it to the game's functionality. I submit that using the end user to find disparities in this way would expedite the tweaking process.
  18. AH-64 It would be cool if ED modeled engine stall due to gun gas ingestion and out-of-plane manuevering for the A-10, though. I wish I had the money for these vids. May be a good source for ED to check out, if they haven't already done so. http://www.military-media.com/movies/a-10.wmv http://www.military-media.com/movies/t-38.wmv
  19. F22
  20. Jetfire, You rock! I can't wait to get home at the end of the month and try it out!!
  21. Yeah, but then they botched Jet vers. 3.0. :)
  22. This may be worth a try: http://forum.lockon.ru/showpost.php?p=166001&postcount=4 It would help if you posted your system specs.
  23. The game version and RL version of the F15 do not need to be trimmed. Make sure auto level is off by pressing the "H" key and press "ctrl-t" to reset trim. Once you start trimming in the game, it turns off the autotrim feature until you hit "ctrl-t" again.
  24. Any work you put into this is MUCHO appreciated. Let's call the program you are making 'Jet.exe' for the sake of this discussion. Here's how I envision the file structure and program working. Open Jet.exe. When open, Jet.exe inhibits lockon from launching when the player presses the 'launch game' button in Ubi and Hyper lobby. Jet.exe inhibits the launch of lockon through a command line intercept. This way, the player can show as a host to clients in Ubi and Hyper at the same time. Then the host launches lockon.exe, as he/she normally would for a single player game, hits NTW (network) in the game and hosts the mission. ****OR**** Your idea for a pop-up window is interesting. I don't think the program would be necessary for a client, though. Could you add a button that reads "Host Only" above the "Launch Lock On" button? This way, the host can: -open HyperLobby -host the game there -press "Host Only" (HyperLobby minimizes, but doesn't launch Lock On) -open Ubi's Lobby -host the game there -press "launch Lock On" button
  25. Hi Jet. So you confirmed that it works? I don't have access to lockon, as I am in Arizona at the moment with some friends (yes it's killing me to not be able to play). Anyway, if it works, I'll be using this technique once I get back home on the first of March. It will be nice to be able to host from both HL and Ubi lobby.
