  1. The height of the noise for mountains is controlled in the graphics.cfg file...I forget which setting, I think maphigh =... EDIT: The High Res 3DMax Template for Terrain Designers file is now uploaded to lockonfiles.com
  2. Lucky, If you want the high grainy texture that is applied to the lowest "noise" of the land to be incorporated into the runway textures, you can make the runway texture a land-class as part of the lsa2 file. Of course, you would need to carry this into the low LOD land .lsa2, as well. Then apply your runway as normal in the .sup file with an invisible .tga texture. This should also work on sloping surfaces where the runway is at an incline/bumpy. You could still leave the yellow and black taxi .tga textures as a supplementary overlay. It will use the same amount as vertices as the standard .sup technique with higher res appearing textures and give an overall unified appearance. Just an idea. Pigboy out :)
  3. Looks really good!
  4. Lookin' good!
  5. Is the VTB Website down for maintenance?
  6. A while back, the Virtual Thunder-Birds were recruiting. You may want to check them out...
  7. Looking forward to it!
  8. Afghanistan is a great idea and would be a cool place to fly...along with lots of other places. I think its unlikely that any modder will take his/her time to build a mod if it doesn't float his/her boat, no matter how many members of the community would love to have it. Personally, given the time and resources, I'd be more inclined to build a Hawaii theater...
  9. I agree 100%!!!!!

  11. The tools are publicly available for modders to create terrain.
  12. Thanks!
  13. Thanks, Sounds very reasonable to me...
  14. =RVE =Yoda, and all involved, I must say, this is very impressive the amount of work, effort and ingenuity put into this mod... It doesn't make online play perfect, but by all accounts from what I've read it makes the playing field as close to realistic as possible. With regards to Kuky's objections to the F-15's auto-lock ability, would it be possible to add an acquisition time delay, if real world values are known? Just spit balling ideas here.. Are the real world values known for acquisition time for step-lock? Anyway wonderful job. I may have to jump online and give her a whirl... Dave
  15. I can't Speak for ED, but I would guess it's a matter of limited time and resources.
  16. Boberro, It is VERY possible to have clouds like this in DCS: Black Shark and Lockon. It can be done using 3DS Max and the Terrain tools ED has made available to the community. The mod described earlier by Shemi has some drawbacks...The first is that the clouds do not extend to the horizon; the second is that it replaces an object. The mod I am speaking of would have none of the limitations I just mentioned. Put simply, there are superficial textures (runways, some cities, roads, etc, ) which are draped above the surface of the land. It is very possible to place those kinds of textures at any altitude and reverse them so that they face downward (reverse "normals" in 3D Max lingo).
  17. Hi Jason, now that ED made the terrain tools available, it would be relatively easy for anyone with 3D Max to place in lights like that into any map.
  18. Both sort of. There is a 3DS Max template which can be modified, or you can start from scratch.
  19. It's pretty much easier to just use the Terrain tools that ED made available...
  20. Did anyone say, "slide show"?
  21. The problem, I think, is that the A-10 should be able to uncage its sidewinders to track the target, at least a few degrees off boresight. Diceman should be able to confirm this...
