Russian missiles - usage, bug, problems, advantages
=4c=Nikola replied to tovivan's topic in Su-27 for DCS World
Still, from the same distance, ER is way more dangerous than R. There is no point loading Rs unless you want to troll other players. :D -
Yea, if 2gb is minimum, how much is optimal? 4gb? 6gb?
-
Accurate and achieve the desired effects against what? At what altitude, at what delta altitude, at what speed, at what aspect, at, how capable of maneuvering, target? At 37nm, AIM-7M can maybe hit a C-172, if radar can see it.
-
It all depends on what you consider being "effective".

Absolutely, I believe it will work just fine at 1gb of vram. Actually, it's pretty close to that. No point buying underpowered 2gb vram card.
-
Are you serious?
-
Very funny. It's like 420e - very expensive. Anyway, if it works, nice, if it doesn't, oh well, can live without it. 1.2 is still playable.
-
Well, even 1680*1050 is like 20% smaller frame buffer than 1920*1080. That's exactly what I bought.
-
That's why I bought a DX11 card... oh wait... So you (ED) are telling me that at the lowest texture quality, at the lowest view distance, w/o AA and AF, with the lowest display resolution possible, the game requires at least 2gb of vram? That's just ridiculous. :)
-
ED announced better performance for DCS 1.5/2.0. One would think that with a same hardware and a same graphic settings, performance would be if not better, then at least the same as in current version of DCS. So in theory, if you have the same amount of draw calls, same texture resolution... but can process it more efficiently (as you claimed), you would expect better performance. I understand that new engine gives you opportunity to increase level of details, utilize modern hardware and deliver greater visual immersion, but I'm not talking about that. Now, few days ago, they announced some crazy minimum requirements even most of AAA game titles released up to 1year ago do not require (I've done my research). Ok, I understand that they switched to Dx11, and naturally, Dx10 hardware cannot be utilized anymore, and that was expected like few years ago when DCS2 was announced. Of course, it's entirely possible the minimum spec are not real minimums, and just a tool to reduce diversity of hardware available for troubleshooting, or maybe a deal with hardware manufacturers (not accusing ED, just pointing out the common practice in AAA world) to increase sales. Anyway, we have to test, if they don't lock hardware below minimum published spec (again, some AAA publishers/devs tend to do that).

Yea, bs is quite superior to vs. Use it most of the time.

Well, it depends what timeframe and what conflicts you want to simulate. Maybe it's a good idea to include Aviano Airbase, and part of Adriatic sea for carrier group. Beograd city is not as important as Batajnica airbase in the suburb. Basically, if you want to cover wide timeframe you would need Batajnica, Nis, Kraljevo, Pristina, Zagreb, Zadar, Bihac, Podgorica, Skopje, Sarajevo and Aviano airbases. The map you attached here is not exYU map. It's Adriatic sea map.

Pre-Purchase NEVADA Test and Training Range

Well, it's up to you, but I would buy the map now and wait for sale when you can buy an aircraft really cheap. Simply, you already have 9 aircraft and only one map. On the other hand, if you're new to the sim, you probably haven't explored the Caucasus map enough to become bored. Additionally, if you buy the map you will have to wait for it, while you can buy an aircraft and fly it immediately. -
I would dare to say that is possible only against not-so-skilled opponents. If an opponent has a slightest clue what he's doing, even 5nm is easily avoidable, and then better be prepared for dogfight, because it's gonna happen. It's not a magic tool, it would help for sure, but don't think it would make a big difference.

What makes you think so? I asked you a genuine question, you didn't even bother to explain.
-
Why is that? What is "the very nature of how Force Correlate tracking mode functions in real life"?
-
Tnx!

Trying to fly "The Serpents Tail Coop" mission with my teammate. That's a 2 ship mission to destroy red static command center and ammunition depot. We are loaded with two GBU-10 bombs and two AGM-65 (G and K) each, but that payload is not enough to even scratch the command center.

The problem is with area bellow glide slope. You don't know what's down there, while above GS, there's only air. Yes, there is buffer zone, but it's not worth risking a life to test it. For example try ILS at Sochi, there are big buildings just bellow GS. Full GS CDI deviation is serious error. Of course, this is just a simulator, so we can try things we cannot do irl. :)

Yes, ATC is nowhere near real civilian or military standard.

Looking for feedback on my IFR and landing techinques.

That's a very nicely flown approach, good comments, nothing to add. -

GTX460. I should change it because I've bought new display with displayport as only input by mistake, but that will not happen anytime soon.
