10 units, it was showing about 6-7 AOA in F2. I found the NATOPS section, just wasn't searching for the right terms.

For 15,000', 14900 lbs fuel, 2xAIM-7, 2xAIM-9, 2xFuel Pod: I'm getting 180 KIAS at 10 AOA units. Does that sounds right? Seems really slow. Also, is an AOA unit not the same as 1 degree AOA? The F2 screen shows about 3-4° less AOA than the AOA units indicator in the cockpit. Also, any insight as to what the marks on the AOA indicator mean? there's a square at 5, triangle at 7.5 and a band at 15.

Just buy a Virpil throttle with adjustable detent and then set it for the F-14. /s

And just like that my F14 career is over....
mattag08 replied to Andysim212's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Teach yourself to properly fly formation. Tanking is fundamentally a formation flying exercise. If you think that airspeed or autothrottle is how to maintain the parade position, you probably are not flying form properly. I spent about 20-30 hours of my time creating training about formation flying, so I can't explain everything here, but my biggest tip is: TRIM TRIM TRIM. You should be able to momentarily take your hands of the stick and have the jet stay approximately in position. I just attempted tanking for the first time a few minutes ago. It was not terribly difficult. -
I suspect that this will be one of the reasons a human RIO will be superior to Jester. The AI can only deal with a set number of states.

Stick way too forward obstructing the display
mattag08 replied to TomCatMucDe's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Yes, please. It is much easier to lean around and look in real life. Plus real binocular vision makes it easier to see around objects in those sorts of scenarios. -
Dunno if that's accurate, but just press the CAGE-SEAM button once you're there and it'll snap to the target. Then fire.

I saw other posts on this, but couldn't find a fix anywhere. I have an issue where I can't bind any axis or keybind in the Controls menu. When I first start DCS I can usually change one bind and then it stops allowing me to. All of the rest of the functionality seems to work fine, but I can't change binds until I do another restart. Any help would be appreciated.

Will we ever see a MP netcode update so that aircraft do not stop midair when there is a connection interruption or high latency? Every notable flight sim on the market in the last 20 years has used a system where if a player disconnects, lags, or temporarily drops connection the client airplane continues along the same path it was last flying before the interruption. Usually it is simply the linear velocities that are retained, but some sims will even preserve the angular velocities or even the linear and angular accelerations. Even just continuing the last linear velocities would do wonders to improving the problem. Considering that clients that have lost communication with the server are still considered for collision detection, this makes for a very precarious situation when flying formation. Given that flying military aircraft in formation is a given and one of the things that almost every group in the DCS MP community does is fly formation to some extent, it would be nice to have some fix that makes formation flying not any more hazardous than it already is. Not only does this apply to formation flying, but to dogfighting and aerial refueling as well. If you're directly at the 6 o'clock of the tanker or an enemy and you or the server lag, you will instantaneously explode as you fly through a suddenly stationary airplane at hundreds of knots. A fix to this is vital for future multiplayer success. I hope ED is in agreement with me that the health of the multiplayer side of DCS World is important to its future growth and long term viability on the market. Thanks for the consideration!

I found it, thanks! The button presses are a little sensitive though. :( It's hard to get 10 ft increments out of it, which is required since you need to set it to values like 40 ft and 370 ft. An axis for it would be awesome. There are throttles on the market now with knob axes that could be assigned to it.

Is there a control mapping somewhere for the radar altimeter knob? Either an axis or a button? I can't find anything anywhere. As much as you mess with it for CAT launch CASE I recovery, etc. I would love to be able to adjust it without using the mouse.

Lots of things have changed in my life since we last flew together, but all is well and I'm in good health, so I can't ask for much more. Hope you guys are doing well. :)

I was curious how long the F-14 is going to remain at its pre-purchase sale price. I'm definitely buying it, but due to finances would like to wait till it gets closer to coming out of pre-purchase before I buy. Basically, I'd like to snag it on sale, but only a week or so before the sale ends if at all possible. Any help would be appreciated.

Oh man, I wondered if I would eventually see the old DoW here. Once the F-18 was out I guess it was only a matter of time before I ran into you, huh? ;) Just thought I'd drop a reply in and let everyone know this a quality group of guys. I spent many any hour playing F4 BMS with these gentlemen. I hope you guys are doing well and good luck with your squadron! With respect, Crow

Waiting for first discount on DCS: Mi-8MTV2
mattag08 replied to captainteemo's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
For the guys complaining. Remember that you bought those modules at the listed price. You felt their value was worth the price put on them. Others didn't think that the modules were worth that much and waited. Now ED is trying to get them to buy the products. This is typical marketing for digital distribution these days: get all the people willing to pay full price and when that market is tapped lower the price a bit to get the next tier down of customers, rinse and repeat. -
I think it's actually a BMD-2. But who cares really. That wasn't the point.

Two words: Density Altitude.

For reference: http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=9d6_1339279880 This BMP gets hit by an RPG and then the ATGMs on the ammo rack ignite. Can you imagine something like this in DCS? *Drool* Just an interesting reference for what it looks like when a small, shaped-charge warhead impacts a vehicle. Also a good reference for secondaries.

To play devil's advocate here, what happens if CoreTex under-performs? We have a less than desirable F/A-18 for sale. No one is making you buy it and it doesn't change or hurt the work that completely different groups are doing on completely different products. If you don't like a product that a third party makes, don't buy it. Where your money goes will speak for itself.

Great ideas in the first post. I agree whole-heartedly. Anything to make DCS have more immersion, re-playability, and hold my interest would be awesome.

I'm not holding my breath. ED can't even make a user friendly GUI.

I've had my Warthog for about 1 year now and my throttles are starting to get very loose. The right throttle in particular is almost to the point of not staying where I've set it (gravity pulls it down). I have the friction lock set to the maximum possible. Anyone heard of this problem or know of a solution? EDIT: Found this, http://www.warthogworld.com/hangar/showthread.php?15-Warthog-Throttle-Friction-Pad-Problem Still appreciate any further solutions though.

I thought it was funny. At the current pace of releases? 2-4 years. ;)

Dynamic Campaign Discussion Thread
mattag08 replied to winchesterdelta1's topic in DCS Core Wish List
And what's even more impressive is that 99% of the player base had no idea what was going on for the longest time. The level of immersion was so high that it didn't even matter. It just--WORKED. Take good notes ED.
