  1. Thanks for the reply guys..so, I guess I should just focus completely on instruments..wonder if RL pilots followed that route under the same conditions..I mean, flying in pitch dark in a simulator, solely relying on instruments is scary enough...could only imagine what it must have felt like for the real pilots..
  2. Flying the Tomcat in VR during daytime is pretty challenging to me, having to look/focus hard at the airspeed and altitude gauges in order to be able to read them, and at the same time, look in front of me to regain my situational awarness. It's not a big deal..after some time, I got the hang of it..however, flying during night (no moon) is a completely different story. I have to use Night Goggles in order to figure out where I'm flying..but at the same time, I have to turn them off every time I want to check my altitude and airspeed gauges...which in turn makes the flying a real pain in the a** and I get disoriented quite often...sometimes close to hitting the deck... How do you guys fly at night? Bare in mind..I'm referring to moonless, pitch-dark nights...in Hornet, I can see my altitude and speed indicators right in front of me and relying on instrument flying is a lot easier..especially keeping the altitude steady..(by manual way, not by using autopilot) in Tomcat, during night, having to look low to the left every few seconds and than look back at the HUD makes me completely loose awarness of my surrounding.. Any tips, hints, would be appeaciated...
  3. ^^Yes I did. It always screws up Jester keybind/function in-game. I removed it and use my own profile.
  4. Uninstalling Voice Attack and doing the repair did the trick. I would like to know exactly WHY does Voice Attack disables the Jester button every time when it's installed..
  5. After installing Voice Attack, Jester Menu won't show ingame, even after pressing assigned key/HOTAS button. This happens even with the Voice Attack disabled. No matter what key I assign for Jester Menu, it simply won't show up ingame. Any ideas? Thanks.
  6. I posted this in the INPUT/OUTPUT forum but no replies. Trying my luck here. Has anyone made a diagram of Warthog HOTAS default bindings for Heatblur's F-14? Thanks.
  7. Hi there! Is there a Warthog diagram of the default throttle and stick functions/bindings for the DCS: F-14B module? Thanks in advance!
  8. 1. Are there YT tutorials on cold start (not the 20 minute one, but a bit faster cold start)? 2. Are there YT tutorials on how to land the Tomcat (land and carrier)? Thanks.
  9. Where in Mission Editor can one set the AA Tacan for Awacs? All I see is the Comms frequency? The carrier has the TACAN option but it appears, the AWACS does not?
  10. Is there a video out there of "normal" startup, with instructions (one that does not take 20 minutes or so to start taxxing)? Thanks.
  11. For the carrier landings, I always set my trim up long BEFORE landing..so, by the time I'm lined up and about to hit the deck, my flight path marker/velocity vector and E-Bracket are 'synced' (i.e. the FPM is inside the E-Bracket) so it's basically, from that point on, focusing only on the stick (movement).
  12. If you can afford it, get VR. It takes simming to a whole new level (i.e. the only thing you'll be missing are the G-Forces.. :D)
  13. I never land that heavy..even if the sim allows it, it's not how's it's supposed to be done IRL. I usually land on the carrier with around 30,000 pounds of overall weight..
  14. In VR, I simply get up from my chair and look behind. Not quite "realistic" but the only way...as the wire retracts too fast for me to make a turn with my plan and see it from the cockpit (as done IRL if I'm not mistaken).
  15. Why not just make the ball (as indicated in the post above) simply "pop up" (as it used to in Jane's F/A-18)? It's hard for me in VR to see it (before it's too late i.e. I'm about to hit the deck) and I assume I am not the only having this problem.
  16. Using E-Bracket in combination with FPM is quite intuitive. It's true indeed, that if these two are properly aligned, you don't really need to look at your airspeed at all. That's what they're, in the end, meant to do: make it easier for the pilot to fly/land. :)
  17. When doing a 'simple' roll, with all the movement inside the cockpit (due to G-Forces), how hard is it to keep your eye on the HUD i.e. do you, under such circumstances, keep looking at the HUD as a 'guideline' on when to roll out or do the G-Forces make it too difficult and one has to focus on the 'general view' outside the HUD area in order to 'feel' the timing for a rollout or simply changing the course of a manouver? In case my question is not clear (which is very likely I guess), I am referring to this (and similar) manouvers: (In case the link doesn't show the right timeline, it starts from 9:45)

    F-18 so far

Aerial refueling and landings are a lot more "easier" i.e. intuitive in VR.
  19. ^^There's a flash light? :D
  20. ^^Seems kinda chubbier from the last time I've seen it. But I'm not gonna engage any further in airframe shaming.
  21. Once you try VR, there is no going back to 2D screen. In VR, it feels like being inside the cockpit. It is a total game changer..flying is a lot easier as it is more intuitive (depth perception, 1:1 scale etc.) As for turning your head around, you're only limited by how flexible your neck/upper body is..
