  1. Hmm I have one of those 10" mimo displays... from what i'm reading, i could use Helios and set it up solely as the UFC (no video output required) Yes?
  2. Unless that has happened in the last 48 hours, i'd say no. I've imported wads of stuff; electronic equipment, firearm parts, drysuits and as long as you're under the magic $1000AUD mark then you're sorted.
  3. +1 to this, if anyone can be bothered to do it I'd be happy to try, but i have no idea where i'd pull any of the pics from
  4. I would read into that, that they need to make X amount of return from the A10C release before they move it over to the Steam platform, due to the associated costs of releasing it via Steam. That's my take on it, and fair call too. :pilotfly: :joystick:
  5. isnt APP for built-in GPU's?
  6. Why not just keep this thread updated with what you find out? FYI you never pay GST or customs duty on anything below $1000AUD.
  7. Respect to Kuky, as usual! I have to spread rep around before i can give you any more!
  8. Bullshit They've been slowly weening off flight sim gear for ages and haven't been getting ANY new Thrustmaster stock for ages
  9. Ask these guys: http://www.flightsimstore.com/ they're very helpful If not, try www.simw.com ... it's in Euro, but will still be cheaper.
  10. Fantastic game, even if it's apparently 'dumbed down'. The 'just-one-more-turn-itis' is definately back in force!
  11. Overclocked your CPU yet? What clocks and voltage is your 5870 running at? Someone may correct me here, but i reckon your 5870 is bottlenecked @ 2.8ghz on the CPU.
  12. Simped will ship worldwide... should be listed in the cart I know as i was going to buy a set from here in Australia (still will eventually).
  13. This is a top looking product, really great work I hope to get my hands on at least helios one day!
  14. As i said, let's not have a steam debate here... it is for some, it isnt for others. I have no doubt A10C will be released, when final, via Steam as was with Black Shark... but quicker, as they took a while to decide to go with Steam for black shark due to various issues.
  15. It isn't a gateway sim... it's not a sim; it's a game. It's just one that might get people to think "well, i've heard of these flight sims and their realism... i wonder what it would be like to give that a try and see what it's like". Won't work for everyone, certainly bumped me in the right direction. The peace as in "peace out yo"... like the cool kids say. Well done on totally missing the point, making the assumption i'm a drug user and peace activist as well as not appreciating my 'freedoms'. You might need a leaf out of your own book and RTFM on life and the universe mate; it turns out it doesn't revolve around your select few and their needs.
  16. LOL! 'a game with a gun in it' was referring to any game that used a firearm, a la arma etc, not DCS. My grammar probably sucks. I agree with everything you say there, but i think we still need to take a step back and look at things; the DCS series is a great simulator series, but it isn't a military trainer and it isn't military life experience... in essence, it's a game; just a complex one. The elitism about realism, supposed 'real life combat experience' of forum members and other such crap can really have the tendency to make this community a hard one to continue in. A classic example is the HAWX thread; no one takes that seriously as a simulator, as it's not... but it's just a bit of a fun blast. Same with any other of the games mentioned; they're just fun. But you have a core group who think that unless you're prepared to spend every spare moment of your time on a game, sorry, simulator or you've been in the armed forces then you should be dismissed, ignored or just plain slagged-off. I find that stupid. Just for the record, i loved HAWX; no thought provoking essence to it, just mindless fun... and it also motivated me to get back into the simulator world which resulted in ED getting money from me (FC, FC2, DCS:BS twice over and the hard print manuals) plus various other companies (TM, mimo, goflight, MS etc). All these things have their place and if you think you're better than someone else here because you prefer to take an hour to pull on a flight suit you bought from ebay and sit in your home cockpit, or you once held a rifle in the armed forces, then you're not and your opinion is no more valid than the next person. You're just a person that enjoys a game/simulator for certain aspects, as are the others that you so quickly slag off. Peace!
  17. I would... and did. I ended up paying twice for DCSBS as i prefer the steam platform; updates for me, central hub of info, manuals and multiplayer. Just my personal preference. So from that, 1.0 release is looking like early 2011 now?
  18. Yeah, i'd wait till the final release and make a decision then to be honest... probably the best way to go
  19. ... probably because a majority of people don't join an armed service and get posted into combat. You realise the games you listed are games right? Not life experiences. Is it now a prerequisite to have 'real life combat experience' to use the DCS series? Or play a game that has a gun in it? Or be heard on this forum? Seems to be more and more of this sort of crap popping up. Probably worth bearing in mind that the DCS series is on a computer, so having some auto start feature isn't going to matter much... but because most of the users don't understand how complex real combat can be, maybe you're better off joining whatever service will let you fly a A10C?
  20. The SCS guys are doing something awesome for A10C I'd wait and get that - The helios stuff and the universal cockpit: http://www.scsimulations.com/ Looks awesome
  21. Agreed. People don't realise how little musicians actually get from their sales and how hard a majority of the smaller acts have to work to get their music recorded, mastered, pressed, marketed and released; it really is mind-blowing. I've never pirated music for these reasons, however i am a complete hypocrite as i download TV shows and the occasional movie. The weird thing is, i mostly (not 100%) buy these downloads on DVD as i want the quality, physical product and extras. (don't read this as a justifications, i'm a c*nt and i know it) I've found amongst my friend group that TV and Movie downloads will actually transition to sales, whereas music downloads generally don't. Most end users are happy with crappily-encoded music because they know no better, whereas TV and movie clearly show the loss of quality. Strange... a tad unrelated rant by me, but something i've always found strange. Distributors are the main culprit for dumb prices, resulting in people 'working around' them, the world over. Here in Australia we basically get bent over, oiled up and penetrated on just about everything... examples from personal experience? Vinyl (records, remember them?), SCUBA equipment, ebook equipment and sales, firearms and firearms parts, specialty products i.e. flight sim stuff (almost $600AUD for a CM MFP!!!)... the list goes on. The problem is, for the end user, we never really look at the distributor as raping us and look at the artist/company and then have no compunction in ripping them off likewise. I wish i had an answer *note - all spelling and grammar mistakes are my own and i'm proud of each and every one of them.
  22. Any ETA as to when the Steam version will be up (either beta or full)? *disclaimer - no steam platform slagging off wars here*
  23. i've got a mimo &', 10" and the U70... if they fail cos they're USB, i'm going to cry. Seriously, i mean cry my ****ing eyes out. The mimo's cost me a ton!
  24. Yep, i change my vote to the aerial screw as well!
