  1. As another experiment, I've placed a carrier (CVN-74) in the Red Sea. Turns out the "Red Sea" is not water, but ..digital pink sand...? So its stationary, but functional. I did a flight to find it and a couple traps to check, TACAN and ICLS work. Here's a template for anyone to use with Syria map Pretty easy to find, head south to the Gulf of Aqaba, follow it to the Straits of Tiran/Red Sea, turn left and head about 150 or so for about 20NM INS: N 27 17.3/E 34 59.1 (F-14 format) Speed 0 Heading 160 Once you get within 250NM, TACAN 74X comes up and ICLS Ch11 for approach. 2. Ok thanks, I think I've got a decent workaround by "keying" to my side number. Once I'm in-game I check to see which slot (F2-F3-F4...) AB is at then I use the ground crew to change my side number F2 use "102" F3 use "103" and so on... And have all voice commands duplicated for each That way instead of saying "Comm...F10...F3...F3" I can say "103 request marshal" and AB responds with the correct side number too.
  3. Try this method, maybe it will work for you. It does for me but I just cut and paste things with no real lua scripting knowledge.... (change the variables to match yours) --GCI CAP script A2ADispatcher = AI_A2A_GCICAP:NewWithBorder( { "SIADS" }, { "SAF" }, "Syria", { "Capzone" }, 2 ) A2ADispatcher:SetDefaultTakeOffFromRunway() A2ADispatcher:SetDefaultLandingAtRunway() -- Setup the squadrons A2ADispatcher:SetSquadron( "Al Qusayr", AIRBASE.Syria.Al_Qusayr, { "SAF 825" }, 2) A2ADispatcher:SetSquadron( "Aleppo", AIRBASE.Syria.Aleppo, { "SAF 3" }, 2 ) A2ADispatcher:SetSquadron( "Palmyra", AIRBASE.Syria.Palmyra, { "SAF 1" }, 2 ) A2ADispatcher:SetSquadron( "An Nasiriyah", AIRBASE.Syria.An_Nasiriyah, { " SAF 595" }, 2 ) A2ADispatcher:SetSquadronCap( "Palmyra", Capzone, 4000, 10000, 500, 600, 800, 900 ) A2ADispatcher:SetSquadronGci( "An Nasiriyah", 900, 1200 ) A2ADispatcher:SetSquadronGci( "Al Qusayr", 900, 1200 ) A2ADispatcher:SetSquadronGci( "Aleppo", 900, 1200 )
  4. Is there a way of defining the F10 "menu slot" for Airboss? Sometimes it is F3, sometimes F4, etc depending on other modules running. This makes Voice Attack a bit of a pain to keep straight. I'm having to keep a number of profiles for VA depending on which F slot Airboss may occupy
  5. Here is small template to incorporate a few Iraq AD targets. A command center, comm tower in Baghdad , protected by a few SAMs and an couple SA6 around the Al Kut airport to dodge on the way. For the Persian Gulf map BaghdadAD.stm
  6. Ok, after more poking around I came to realize the x/y coordinates are not in any way globally navigation based, such as they do not translate to anything geographical. It's just a linear measurement in metric. To test I placed an object then another 1 mile north. In the mission file the difference in the x (vertical) coordinate was 1852, in meters that's a mile. So it should be a mathematical solution to place things off the map... Happy to see that worked, I now have a target in Baghdad and using that x/y as a "datum" I can place other units/statics. I'll see if I can put together a reasonable Baghdad target template that people can import in to the PG map.....
  7. I did notice there is definitely overlap in the Syria and Persian Gulf map that together that cover all of Iraq, Kuwait, most N Africa and most of Saudi from the Gulf to the Red sea to the Med. Haven't explored north Turkey yet. If users could populate targets, ground/static objects in these places one could recreate all the actual missions in the Gulf War, Southern/Northern Watch, OIF, etc..... mind boggling to realize how much territory is out there not being used Also did find that the Iraqi H3 highway strip near the Jordan/Iraq border is there....did a few touch and goes.. I added a few static buildings, c-130, portable TACAN and laid down FARP mats for a useable runway to make working NAS Fallon. I'm not scenery designer, this took maybe 20 mins....but it shows possibilities...?
  8. I was exploring outside the edges of the maps, the actual "canvas" size of the areas are very large. For example on the Syria map I flew along the coast all the way to Libya, followed the suez canal to the Red Sea and flew SE into Iraq all the way to south of Nasiriya. Of course its just a sat image texture, but using the hornet's GM radar you can follow waterways, like the Tigris and Euphrates, plus the larger lakes show too. In the Persian Gulf you can fly to Baghdad, easily located in shape and by the rivers plus the airport is locatable visually. So, I'm thinking it may be possible to spawn targets, such as SAMs/AAA around Baghdad for historical OIF missions. When looking at the mission file inside a created .miz there are x/y coodinates of targets, is there a conversion method to lat/long or such that one could edit to accomplish this? Obviously using the GUI in the ME wont work.... Baghdad airport just under over tail in the Persian Gulf map The Red Sea in the Syria map
  9. The Suez Canal is there and followed it all the way to the Red Sea
  10. This got me wondering.....what is beyond the edge? So I filled up with gas and followed the coast all the way to Libya. Its fairly well done and the map "ends" just north of Bardiyah, Libya. I was able to land and take off on the terrain there too.. This grab is looking south along the Libyan coast , that small inlet translates well to google earth map as being a decent representation of the Bardiyah coastline area.
  11. Would it possible to add, in RIO cockpit, addition to ICEMAN something like NAV->Go to Waypoint (x)

    Cyclic ops

I'm keen on all this too. Been experimenting with Airboss and RedKite's templates to simulate a cycle. Airboss does a great job handling the cycle (they call it setting "recovery windows", can specify time of start/end/case) turning the ship into wind, putting up recovery tanker, E2, escorting plane guard helo that actually simulates SAR when I crash on approach, and basic comms with a monitored marshal stack. Redkites templates can be used with time triggers to match the Airboss cycle to do a launch or recovery deck, but I'm not up to speed on the AI taxiing logic so it still gets jammed up on the bow cats.... Also noticing with Airboss to have the AI marshal best, they need to exit out of the carrier control zone (you can specify this, default is 40NM) and reenter or a lot of times they ignore the stack and directly enter the landing pattern. Still fun to play with... this is a "launch window" the tanker and awacs set to go first just after the helo took off and set up on station..Airboss steers the ship into wind 5 mins before your recovery window is set to start.
  13. This is great stuff. I was able to get the Hawk carrier enabled, however while it will catapult launch if started on the cat but not from ramp. the AI will will taxi, hook up and launch but then "freeze" at the end of the cat shot. The AI will trap but without any command to drop the hook, all I can do is bolter. Link to flyable Hawk (with T-45 livery) https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3311568/
  14. Thought it must of been something like that. Thanks for the response, keep up the excellent work.
  15. First off, fantastic campaign. The realism and attention to detail, procedures and flight admin is exactly the thing that elevates the immersion factor. The one small item I would really appreciate is the ability to use real world squadron liveries. The included ones are excellent, but (my opinion only) they kill the mounting realism. Maybe this is a copyright, DoD issue or such?
  16. Since last patch (Open Beta) RMI needle not swinging on TACAN, stays pegged at 6 o'clock pos. Working for RIO , not in pilot. Cycled all modes, X/Y, AA. Pilot/NFO and different channels ship and ground. DME registers correct.
  17. Agreed. AIM54 (all variants) currently almost useless. The only method I've found still working reliably is using the ACM mode in "Active off the Rail"....range about 5nm.... Actually gone back to the Sparrow as primary BVR weapon now!
  18. Have a watch of these two videos. Not a direct answer to you question, but I got a lot of understanding in the behind the scene way of how the SC treats AI and methods of sequencing launches. DCS Supercarrier - The "Flex Deck" Guide: Sequential Launch Cycle in DCS Supercarrier Using Trigger
  19. I tried tanking off the Rafale NN version last night. I could not connect at all so had the AI wingman try. This picture shows him "plugged", note the discrepancy for basket location. Also he never got fuel, pre-connection state was 3.8 overhead the De Gualle, then when he disconnected I re-checked in and the report was "low state 2.6" (I had over 9000) so this does appear to indicate no transfer. But sure looked good!
  20. Wow! You guys are the machine extraordinaire....... Ok, here is some for mission designers.... https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/politics/1983/11/18/french-jets-strike-shiite-position-in-eastern-lebanon/3dc881f1-a84e-4785-bdb7-2ba916802b82/ French Jets Strike Shiite Position in Eastern Lebanon By Glenn Frankel November 18, 1983 French warplanes bombed a military barracks of Moslem Shiite radicals in Syrian-controlled eastern Lebanon today in what France said was a preemptive strike to prevent another terrorist attack on its troops here. Super Etendard fighter-bombers from the aircraft carrier Clemenceau struck shortly before sundown at a former Lebanese Army barracks now under control of Shiite militants on the outskirts of the town of Baalbek in the eastern Bekaa Valley, according to state-operated Beirut radio. The radio report said the building was partially destroyed in the bombing, which also struck the hills surrounding the barracks and the neighboring town of Ras el Ain. Several hundred members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards are also reported to be stationed around the town.
  21. On the F/A-18D, the plyons are missing something. I've gone through the lua and it looks like all the called for textures are available........anyone know which it is?
  22. I would like to know this too. I've altered the skins for the Stennis (just the island number to "66" and "67") for flying the early F14-A from. I'm fine with the downsides. If I could find a static A7 to go with the EA6's , now that would really be nice ....
  23. Spot on advice. I was struggling like mad until I found that moving my seat down (Cockpit views ) made all the difference. I move the view down so the HUD waterline is just about touching the cowl......I hold this view all the way in.
  24. Additional: The AI will sometimes park in front of the island resulting in foul deck / other AI crashing into it on landing. The angle of the AI parking needs to be adjusted to keep it behind the foul line
  25. I have the same issue with liveries on the Tomcat. I can change the AI F-18 (from the bazaar dir) fine, but the aft Tomcats stays as the Jolley Rogers regardless which livery I select. Script excerpt: -- ******************************************************** local staticObj = { ["name"] = "MassLaunch Fantail Tomcat 4", -- unit name (Name this something identifiable if you wish to remove it later) -- Copy and paste over this with the units information ["livery_id"] = "VF-41 Black Aces AJ101 (1991)", ["category"] = "Planes", ["offsets"] = { ["y"] = 12.199912370008, ["angle"] = 6.1086523819802, ["x"] = -152.76536092401, }, -- end of ["offsets"] ["type"] = "F-14B", -- Copy and paste over this with the units information end My flight on the elevator is the livery specified Attached screen shows result:
