  1. Is aerial refuelling possible at night without NVGs?
  2. It is a bit clunky, but no you can have five PP targets per pylon and two bombs per pylon. The choice is up to you after that. To drop two bombs from one pylon requires you to manually choose which PP you want for each drop, otherwise you will drop the second on the same co-ords as the first. It may seem clunky/unrealistic however I have been informed before that carrying more than one bomb per pylon is uncommon and if they do, then its not usually required to run them all off quickly. I think if multiple targets are to be hit with JDAMs in close proximity, then another platform would do this (B1 maybe?).
  3. There is two install paths there. One for steam and one for non steam. Can you still not open config when DCS is not running?
  4. If the MSAA mask has no performance impact, then is it best to set it at maximum rather than default 0.42? Otherwise we are just losing AA for no reason.
  5. 3090 still has stutters on Syria. I get single big stutters, but pretty infrequent so not really a problem. Although I do only have 32gb system mem...
  6. How do you record a track if the game crashes? Edit: Ignore, this! Just seen BN's post above.
  7. How about this! Farallon de Medinilla
  8. Just happened across this thread! This happened to me at the weekend, just thought it was a random crash. F18, Syria, Cold and dark, Double gbu-12 outer pylons, LTD/R armed, game froze approx 1/2 second after releasing the first bomb. I didn't get a track, it was after a while of night flying so track would have been too long anyway. I've played DCS since so may have overwritten log files. I'll try to reproduce if its an actual bug but there won't be a trackfile if it actually freezes.....
  9. I can confirm that request nvgs is not working. I get confirmation and rearming notification but no change. I have made the mistake of doing while canopy is shut which I had to open but still not changed over. Is this just viacom? Or DCS as all commands seem to be acknowledged properly.
  10. You should be able to get a decent experience. You might be best to try an oculus rift S. Easiest to use, low res runs better, cheap. It will need super sampling to get a good image and you should be able to get a little of that. A quest 2 is also a possibility but this uses extra GPU power to encode through the link cable. Plus more expensive than rift s, once you have factored in all the extras. You could try a second-hand rift s that would be a really cheap way of trying it out. Only drawback oculus is Facebook so you will need to link your oculus account to you Facebook account. A deal breaker for some, not for others.
  11. I trim out so, but always making small gentle corrections. Trim out for flying off left wing and then glide in. Once behind I retrim then go for basket. I still get into wobbles - it's hard.
  12. No you are right, thats what I meant. It is a personal thing, but I found I was having to make bigger physical moments for the tiny corrections needed. I increased my curves first and found it harder. Reducing them was a bit of a eureka moment. For me anyway (warthog stick) Worth trying if you are struggling.
  13. Better off to trim out rather than use autopilot. Its all practice - mostly formation flying over anything else. I always line up on the left of the tanker and fly in formation so that I get a feel for the speed etc before moving in behind. Glide in, connect, then formation fly while looking at a point on the side of the tanker (not basket). I also found that its easier in VR and I also reduced the curves on my stick which helped me. Turned out I had them too curvy (15 I think) and wasn't able to get the movements small enough to do it until I dropped to 10. Others may well find this different but worth experimenting with. Its not easy, its also perishable. I can just about manage f18 basket filling but finding boom planes (f16) really difficult.
  14. I think all modules are optional. You can switch them off and delete them at will. Or choose not to install at all. As you can do with everything during the free to play periods
  15. Interesting so many people are getting disconnects. I do not have this issue yet. I am connecting via offical link to usb-c on the mobo. Are others connecting to gpu's? I did have sound stutters and also an issue with the mic being ignored most of the time. Sometimes it would work. I "fixed" my mic and sound issue by using a wireless gaming headset and bypassing all oculus audio. As I was going to use plug in headphones it seemed to make sense to do this anyway.
  16. I have been experimenting with fine tuning my settings over the weekend. Trying out some of the scenarios I have seen on this thread too. I run a fairly beefy rig (i9 9900 + 3090) so take that into account. Thought I would list some of the key parts of what I found out. Others mileage will vary.... I have found that as I was jumping in out of of reprojection (on low down, off at altitude) I get more consistent performance locking to half frame rate, reprojection enabled. I do this via ODT but I have found it doesn't always get acknowledged by DCS. Best way is to do it while DCS is running. I run at 80hrz with oculus res slider at max. Get this slider as high as you can before PD or SS elsewhere. 72 I can just see strobing sometimes, 90hrz just wont run as well. To get those cockpits sharped up, I try to add 1.1 in ODT supersampling. This is quite a large increase as its 10% of my full oculus res settings. I just about works but I do get ground judder - any more than 1.1 and the ground judder is just too bad. ODT SS and DCS PD have the same perf impact. I think ODT SS looks better for it. DCS Setting - MSAA 2x really helps with jaggies and 4x almost removes them completely. I really can't manage 4x so but I can't bear it off as its a jaggie fest. It does affect performance but worth it if you can. Link settings, I've really tried these and I can't see much difference in the higher range. I used to run at 500, now at 350. Really not sure which is better. I now leave the resolution width at 0 (default) as I have read this is set automatically. I've tried the full range of options and the higher settings are no different to default for me. Nvidia Control Panel - Vsync fast. I find this essential for smoothness and ensuring that DCS is kept to the 40fps needed. DCS game settings are all fairly high. I've not tweaked these much as I know what I like from other headsets and will try to get the others working before tweaking here. (Although I have tried replacing MSAA with more SS - this does not remove enough jaggies for me so MSAA 2x stays) There is much more personal opinion here so difficult to compare. I personally need some terrain (flat) and cockpit (low) shadows as I don't like the look without. I keep these low but they do cost still. Personally not had any issues with link disconnecting....yet...(v26) Hope that helps someone!
  17. No I couldn't in 2D either. They were not the most prominent here but visible the higher I went. I'll try to get a better track but probably not visible in 2d either.
  18. I also said I would supply a track. Just got one now. Basically, I'm not sure if this is as visible as it was. I have certainly seen it more than I had managed to get in this track, but I have captured it. I think it is mostly visible in the far away parts of the sea. I had to add the preset "clouds and wind" to get this to show properly. Basically its a short track (f18 + caucaus), starts at 6000ish feet and a left bank climb to around 35000. Circles first appear at around 17 and then quite visible by 30+. Not as prominent as what was first shown in the picture but visible to me at least. Quest 2, not viewed track in 2D. Also I did not try this in F2 yet, could be worth a go to see if this makes a difference. I once saw it really badly when following harpoons on a low flight(in vr) Update. Just tried watching this track in 2D. Couldn't see them. Odd. Wave Patterns.trk
  19. I don't think I've ever listened to my internal fantasy work.
  20. Going on the news released, the clouds are part of a larger update (2.7?) and is planned for release in Q1, so by the end of march is their plan. I guess it could slip. It happens.
  21. Q1 is their planned date. So by end of march. Unless it changes.
  22. Watch the vid. I'd say a yes.
  23. Yes, thanks for adding that. If I were you guys, I would launch everything as a surprise. All these sexy videos just creates hunger..... They look great! Keep up the great work.
  24. Ah shame. I must admit I didn't see the original message, but I did find it odd that this seemed to be the only place where a timeframe was mentioned. However having said that I do remember the F16 launch the date was provided in the YT description and not mentioned in the video!
  25. Ah yeah. I should have checked the letters on the forum. I wasn't too worried about any fps drop, just seem that some of the streamers are expecting it. I'm just looking forward to cloud surfing in VR for the first time! Can't decide what a/c to use. Probably gotta be a warbird...
