  1. Maybe I can help here. Your position is a BLEND of INS and GPS. The GPS is accurate for sure but it also takes the INS into the position formula. Well....the INS drifts as we know. These POSITION UPDATES help correct the INS drift part of the solution so when mixed with the GPS it is all that much more accurate. We cannot JUST rely on the GPS because... 1. GPS has error as well (small). 2. GPS can go away at any moment. So we do a blend. Sort of an average.
  2. Check out "AIM XYZ" headtracker. Slightly cheaper than TrackIR and no reflecters or silly headgear.
  3. Probably just because early access but I was practicing several flame out landings and I notice the EPU stops running when I land. Yes, I have EPU fuel and yes, the EPU switch is set to "on" (even though it doesn't need to be). Also, after the engine stops and the EPU auto starts it seems the HUD tumbles. I think (not 100% sure) the HUD shouldn't do this. Just thought I would report.
  4. None of these 3 posts above were what I was seeing. Jet was stable. Pull back off MP (gate) and FF goes up. Push back up to gate and FF goes down. Nothing to do with the weight or the stable max speed.

  7. You are all not really reading my post. I know about the fuel flow changing with speed. That is why I say STABILIZE. My throttle has no issues. Completely smooth linear throw. This is happening. For the first 1.5 inches out of military power fuel flow increases. Is anyone actually testing this or just trying guess what is happening? I challenge you to test the exact way I describe in my first post and look at your fuel flow. I wish I knew how to post a short video here but I would have to take it through my Reverb G2 and post it hear and is that possible?
  8. So strange. It is very pronounced. The first 1.5 inches of thrust lever movement away from military power in the direction of idle increases the fuel flow. Not a ton. Just a few hundred PPH but still... I cannot be the only one seeing this. Can anyone else please try my instructions (make sure you are stable) and tell me if you get same results? Use the white maker on the thrust lever as your guide. back off military power a few mm at a time. watch fuel flow.
  9. Go ahead and takeoff in a viper, level off and get your altitude hold on at any altitude. Go full military power. Right up so the white stripe on the thrust lever is up against the notch or detent thing but no more. Don't go into afterburner. Now let the jets speed (and fuel flow) stabilize. Now... Slowly pull the thrust lever back 1 mm at a time and watch your fuel flow. IT GOES UP! In fact it keeps getting higher as you pull back the thrust lever for about 1 1/2 to 2 inches before fuel flow begins decreasing (looking at that white stripe on the thrust lever). I have a top quality Virpil thrust lever that is smooth as butter with no spikes or jitters so I know it's not my throttle. A. Is it just me seeing this? B. It this how the real viper works (I doubt it). C. Is this a bug? No track file here. Just strap on the jet and see for yourself.
  10. They are quick to point out that GS radar elevation was wrong but they are not willing to take 3 minutes to fire up the game and see for themselves you can't lock a fighter sized target outside of 40 mile range EVEN IF YOU ARE PAINTING THE TARGET? Frustrating.

  12. I played alot of SP BVR today in the viper. Could never lock up a fighter sized target over the 40 mile scale. Didnt try larger targets. Could paint target at 50 miles but could NEVER lock until well below 40 miles. RWS or TWS. Bug?
  13. Under normal conditions IRL the jet does NOT lose any altitude in a 30 degree banked turn with ALT HOLD on. This is a PIREP from the mouth of a block 40 viper driver.
  14. You have data that says the autopilot loses 200-300 feet in a 20 to 30 degree banked turn? My source data is viper pilot with 1800 hours or so in type. Why would he lie? He was actually laughing when I told him about this quirk in DCS. Respectfully, you have to let logic creep in at some point. Do you really believe they would build such a system and find it acceptable?
  15. I thought I would give this its own thread. About the autopilot I would like to bring up one issue that I have confirmed does NOT happen in the real F-16. When I have altitude hold mode on (with attitude bank) it will hold altitude just fine BUT when I put the jet into a banking turn (lets say 20 or 30 degrees) the jet will lose about 200 to 300 feet and will stay low until I come back to wings level. At wings level the jet will climb back up to the original altitude and hold. We are not talking about any steep bank angles here just normal mild turns. Just yesterday my first officer was a viper pilot (block 40's) and he confirmed the real jet does NOT do this at all.

  18. I do know one thing for sure though if you were in a continuous bank for 20 minutes then the SAI would most definitely think of THAT bank as level. It’s a Gyro and it drifts like any other gyro. It uses gravity to tell itself which way is down. So if you were in a bank and Pulling lights G for 20 minutes it would re-define gravity. Does that make sense? It’s the same thing with a gyrocompass how you have to reset it every 10 or 15 minutes because it drifts. You don’t have to do that with a standby attitude indicator because it uses gravity for that function. This only happens with standby systems as the INS has something to prevent this.

  20. I have the HP Reverb G1 rev 2 headset in excellent condition with two controllers. The controllers have never been used and the headset has always been covered when not in use. The lenses are perfect. No scratches and no damage. I baby my hardware! I have the original box so it packs away nicely.   21. After you turn the knob to the ground position wait like 20 seconds. For some reason there’s a small delay. When you see the timer starting to rise THEN select the button on the HSI for stored heading.
  22. Thanks for the answer. That makes a lot more sense. Otherwise map mode isn’t very useful at all. Well I guess that’s not true. If you know exactly where the targets are going to be located then it works I guess.

Radar bug when switching from ground radar to air to air If you are in one of the EXP modes while using ground radar and you switch to air to air mode with a missile key you lose the ability to change the range on the radar. The arrow keys are simply not there. They’re not there in the EXP mode (normal) with the ground radar but they do not re-populate when you switch directly to air to air.
