  6. what in gods name...
  7. B52 is 50+ years old, and a (planned) upgrade thats been floating about is to high bypass engines. Dont they use turbojets instead?Same goes for the concorde, it used turbojets as well. 50's tech. and i dont know what you mean about the horses, but hp ISrelevant to efficiency. http://www.concordesst.com/powerplant.html edit:TF33 PW low bypass engines, I stand corrected.
  8. i didn't mean it like that, but my point is this: you wouldn't put low bypass engines on large aircraft willingly, would you? else there would be no need of high bypass.off top of my head, the 747 generates 420k hp, right? im just saying... btw i like this discussion; i like learning about this stuff so bear with me...
  9. thats not exactly efficient..the way engines are rated in efficiency is how much heat isnt used for thrust. a jet engine like a low bypass are about 75% efficient, while the latest GE90 high bypass turbofan is 90% efficient. in this case its how much fuel is used to heat up the compressed air. high bypass turbofans produce a LOT more thrust than low bypass engines that dont have an afterburner, which then they consume 500% more fuel too.
  10. c130 is operated by 25 countries.
  11. i believe it has something to do with fod. also you might get some side effects between the prop wash and suction from the jet since you will have more forces acting on the main disk.
  12. not really...
  13. high bypass. no other turbine is more efficient than high bypass...what else is there? torque producers dont create thrust, and blah...
  14. Im curious...which aircraft has high bypass? IIRC smaller aircraft arent capable of being high bypass due to size restrictions. I hear high bypass, I think turbofans on C-5's.
  15. anyone know what can be mounted on stations 2 and 10? building a model...
  16. exactly, which is why its the ideal choice for export for advanced aircraft. its the jack of all trades, not the ace of spades.
  17. the f35 is more adaptable than the f22, and the f35 is more capable and modifiable for meeting certain criteria. the f22 will need to be upgraded to a later block to be able to use a2g ordnance, and again upgraded to a later block for irst, and use the aim9x and aim120d. the f35 not only has this capability now, but there are already 3 variants.
  18. I dunno how to embed vids in this forum...
  19. what flight models will they emulate?
  20. too bad its for mac. any self respecting simmer uses a pc...would it run on microsoft environments? drivers for apple equipment only? good idea but it could be better...
  21. you can probably find em at lockonfiles...
