I had an X52 for a long time, very much enjoyed it despite the limitations, highly recommend it if you can find a second hand one -
Im currently playing on a laptop that has a 1660ti Im getting 50 fps average at 1920x1080. according to PCbenchmark the latop 160ti is low on the performance specs compared to a full unit so I hope that helps?

Hi all, Was wondering if there are any Aussie timezone squadrons operating the F/A-18C. The Flying kiwis were the only squadron that came up but start a little bit early to fly with reliably.

Exporting to Thrustmaster MFD's
shu77 replied to julianb8504's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Remove the brackets from the cougar and use doublesided tape to attach to the second screen, much more effective and gets the bezel closer to the screen. nothing better than being able to see the screen output against the cougar and press the buttons independent of track IR etc -
So I've been thinking about coming back

Thanks man, Laptop is downloading DCS World, will run up the modules Ive been buying on sale since 2010 when it finishes and see what I can plug in,The full spec on the laptop is Intel Core i7-9750H Hexa Core (12M Cache up to 4.50 GHz) NVIDIA GTX 1660Ti 6GB GDDR6 15.6" FHD IPS Edge-to-Edge Matte 144Hz LED 16GB DDR4 2666MHZ (2 x 8GB) P1 1TB M.2 PCIe SSD Intel AX200 Dual Band WIFI/BT Windows 10 Home 64 Bit I mainly speced it for video editing but thinking it might be a good lead in to a new gaming rig. If I could get an Oculus Rift S I think I would, but given the lack of any lead time on them I am leaning toward the reverb as I know I can at least get it through the work suppliers -

Im going to give the laptop a try which has a 1660Ti 6GB and i7-9750H Hexa Core as a next step. in 2010 I had the cougars on a second screen and hawg touch an external UI on a second PC. I still have the warthog and pedals and Cougars in the cupboard, I liked the tactile element of it, but the idea of VR seems a lot better long term. if you are happy the Reverb provides usable screens I did spend a lot of time playing with the set up back in tthe day. i always wanted to ffly the F/A-18C which we operate locally, but ended up on the Warthog just because it was what was available back in 2010. -

Thanks for the reply, my big concern with the Rift S was availability, can you happily read the MFD's without having to slouch in? As you can see my original rig is agbout 1/5th the capacity of yours so I think an upgrade is in need. -
9 years ago as it turns out I used to be fairly active around here, I did a bunch of stuff with the A-10C , wrtoe some Airfield maps played with a bunch of output apps and then married life and a pilots licence got in the way. I used to find the A-10C mucked up my glide scope. Covid has me thinking about coming back, so I am wondering in 2020: -I dont seem to be able to get a Oculus Rift S but I can get a HP reverb Pro, is that a decent VR headset? -what spec PC do I need, the laptop has a 1660TI, not sure if it will runt the warthog and other peripherals, so trying to decide between an i7or i9 and a 2060 or 2070? -is it worth getting a second set of cougars for the Hornet? -Is the F-18C Warthog stick upgrade worth it? - Anyone know what happened to the 77th? Anyway hoping theres someone aroudn that still remembers me.

I tell ya I feel kind of bad for mentioning it now. I thought the Article gave some interesting insights into how to minimise the force multiplier affect of an aircraft that has been described to date as far superior to its competitors. The conversation kind of devolved into something else though :(

Well I cant say I really have a dog in this fight, I just thought it was an great article. I also like to think its more a case of using the ROE to your advantage than asking the opposition to play fair (*cough* which is why we perhaps see so many tanks being parked in the middle of primary schools and similar in current operational theatres). I recall there was an instance of Lock On being used by an Eastern Bloc air force to identify a tactic against perhaps the Mig-29 that was successfully validated in real life? (Hoping someone has a link or a reference to this) I think it will be quite interesting to see if this tactic works when we have both aircraft represented in DCS.

To be honest for my part I found using a Larger screen with the Thrustmaster Cougar MFD's quite satisfactory and far cheaper myself, Theres a picture of my set up in my sig

I knew this would be of great interest to the members of this forum, especially given the development of the F-22 by IRIS. http://www.wired.com/dangerroom/2012/07/f-22-germans/ I love the title of this article "Yesterday we had a Raptor Salad for Lunch" http://theaviationist.com/2012/07/13/fia12-typhoon-raptor/

I like your poll better :)
-
No. Look at the MP Environment now, particularly in Flaming Cliffs. Designers usually put both US and Russian A/C on both the Red & blue teams. The simple fact is the majority of the user base speak English & the majority of the market look for aircraft simulated in a language they can understand. Learning one of these aircraft is hard enough without having to learn Russian also (the main reason I never got anywhere with the Blackshark, but am quite proficient with the Hog) Why force/restrict developers to develop aircraft that will potentially limit their sales, just for an artificial sense of 'balance.' I would also suggest the poll needs to include an option: "No ED should not restrict aircraft types past upholding the standard of fidelity able to be researched and implemented"

I just use an old monitor, I found Blu-tak is good for attaching them without leaving a mess.

I would love to have the space to set up a series of 120degree curved screens to throw something like this on to.

Actually it is 99% of the set up for the UK, in terms of medals, the only thing that is needed is slightly different rank slides. I actually have the artwork for this on hand, is there a way of submitting for inclusion?

HawgTouch - Free Panels & Gauges for A-10C

Here you go, have a look at this post http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1179819#post1179819 Not sure if it is the issue, but would be a likely place to start. -
HawgTouch - Free Panels & Gauges for A-10C
shu77 replied to ClearDark's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
When I was setting up the radio I found that some of the keys had different control types assigned & I had to go into the config file and change them to get the Hawgtouch input to work. I'm sure I posted a reference in this thread, I'll see what I can find and link -
Did you possibly have run fullscreen checked? I made that mistake

Multi-monitor set-up guide & help (unofficial)
shu77 replied to MadTommy's topic in Multi-Display Bugs
Hey Guys got my set up working again in DCS world, It seems theres a couple differences to the way viewports are exported, but apart from my RWR no longer outputing all is good. My one piece of advice though, make sure you uncheck fullscreen before adding a non-fullscreen res :) -
Multi-monitor set-up guide & help (unofficial)
shu77 replied to MadTommy's topic in Multi-Display Bugs
Does anyone have any advice on how this works within DCS World? I'm just downloading the A-10 Beta now and wondering if I can pull my config straight across -
I know there are some instances where firing a laser from time of launch can create an undershoot situation as the bomb spends momentum chasing the beam. I figure though if you are lasing something like a blackshark which has a LWR on board its going to get all kinds of crazy going off in its cockpit to warn it about being painted, similarly with a newer tank, so it might IRL lead to earlier evasive action from a target then you were wanting.
