I tried attaching the Standard clip to the top of my headset, but I found my head obscured the sensors too quickly. Something like a 2" wide strip of wood about 6 inches long attached to the headset strap to get it past the crown of your head would help. Honestly a cap is the easiest, maybe a tennis hat if you dont want to cover the top of your head would help?

If you hit the start button and start typing USB Gaming Controllers you will see the app. if you open it you will see the attached devices, it would be worth opening the THrottle and joystick and clicking each of the buttons and figuring out which ones are not responding so we can help troubleshoot the process. By default you dont need target, but without a specific target script you dont get an 'off' state for many of the switches so it may be the joystick is working but you are not getting the bindings you are expecting. If you can suggest which specific buttons dont work we may be able to help you identify if its a defect or not.

Not as much as when I use the Mustang. Warthog did use it occasionally to fine tune the canon. They are worth it to get around a carrier deck though.

Sad to say but I have a 4 digit one :) Unit is still functioning fine after all this time, I invested in the delta upgrade because I've never been happy with the Slew and trying to figure how to greese the throttle as I think the 10 year old grease is getting a little grippy, but everything else still works great.

Yeah I had this issue recently, guarantee the issue is Windows Store, you dont need to uninstall it, just stop it from running in the background. To disable apps from running in the background wasting system resources, use these steps: Open Settings. Click on Privacy. Click on Background apps. Under the "Choose which apps can run in the background" section, turn off the toggle switch for the apps you want to restrict.

The warthog has been in production as is for over 10 years, if you check the serial number database there are over 100,000 in circulation, I'm pretty sure they have covered their losses by this point.
