  1. Please leave it at CW1 that never happened...
  2. There will be no actual military airfields from the cold war in Sweden and Denmark even in phase 3. Maybe we could get some grass airfield? Viggen is not that sensitive to rough strips, the F-16s in Denmark might have more problems on grass though. Or inklude Skrydstrup (DK) and F10 Ängelholm (SE) by expanding the map a few kilometers... This post was juvenile and off topic. I agree But I agree that it would be nice with some grass strips in Germany. We have the props where we can ignore the post 1940:ies stuff outside the air bases. And interesting that the actually used them for Mig-21s!
  3. I have not noticed the DCS/Ugra product ads in the Syria map but it sounds like a truly awful idea, spending so much good effort on getting the right atmosphere... But I mostly fly jets at higher altitude. I was locked away for 3 hours in Checkpoint Charlie as an 18 year old, drinking my visa away in the spring of 1989 on a school trip to Berlin... It really would kill the immersion seeing an Ugra ad instead of raw grey concrete there, as I plan to revisit it with a rocket armed chopper or an M48 tank in combined arms, to pay back for the lost 3 hours of my life
  4. Wow, this is really looking too good unless there is s big update coming to Combined Arms. And those Aist hoverceafts on that beach look awesome... Did a rather successful scenario in CMO (Baltic Storm) where a bunch of them try to land on the Bornholm supported by Mi-24s, and the Skåne East coast in Sweden... Sadly not included in Phase 3. But almost. Nudge nudge
  5. OK - rather useless but I compiled the different grades from the Supercarrier manual into one PDF to printout for the ones that like it... Or rather for myself, but why not share. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1PWqLAWhGIFJKy0Ydm6-WnpkvzBRt0A6N/view?usp=sharing
  6. A question to everyone here that seem to agree that this is a problem caused by the AV software and not ED. Do you have any other software where you experience similar problems with false positives multiple times per year? What do you think of the practice of encrypting executable code with VMProtect? Could that be causing it?
  7. Lets assume I work with advanced software CI/CD questions at a much larger company than ED. This problem should never happen as it should have been caught in the automatic tests before release. And it does not take weeks to get MS to add it, if it is a false positive. And other AV suites are complaining about it as well. I would not recommend anyone to exclude the DCS folder from AV scans. Especially with unresolved disputes with sub-contractors. So has the QA team noticed that both Defender and Avast complains that the ddl is infected with "Wacatac.B!ml" and ignored that and pushed it to release as they are sure it's false? Or do they not have DAST scanners in their build environment? Microsoft Defender is the most commonly used AV suite in the potential customer group.
  8. So a small Russian company develops a simulator that I like. When I download an update Microsofts automatic Defender AV detection says this when I download an update... I have NO other application that Defender has reacted on the last years - but it has happened 3 times with DCS. Can ED please contact Microsoft Support and explain that this is a false positive so they can update their AV definitions, instead of spreading dangerous advice of excluding AV scans for the DCS installation folder? That is not a solution - it is a bad workaround. Are the developers running on a modern and updated OS with a modern AV? That should have detected this "false" positive before posting it to their customers so Micorosoft would have updated the AV definitions. What more can be in the downloads that are actual true positives if this was not flagged in the QA environments? null
  9. Well - if this a false positive I suggest that ED and Heatblur post this to Microsoft and not telling us paying customers to do it? null
  10. When is the preorder opening? It looks like it's ready for early access already
  11. The only "airbases" that would be viable in the proposed phase 2 or phase 3 for Sweden would be: - Sturup (https://maps.app.goo.gl/Xn8R4R8drkNqxQwu8). The civilian airport of Malmö built in 1972 that has never been used by the Swedish air force actively (no aircraft spending the night there). It is however a reserve base in the case of war and Gripens land there and refuel / rearm occasionally. - Björka auxillary field (https://maps.app.goo.gl/ZvjvesD8WUVv2FCk7) . Built by the military in 1939 as a 1000 meter grass field initially, then expanded to 2000 meters paved. Swedish aircraft are built to not need long and vacuum cleaned runways. It was permanently closed in 1998. It was just a reserve base in the cold war, but there are aircraft shelters, bunkers etc. Today it is still used by the Swedish army for training urban combat with fake buildings in the middle of the strip. So no landing there Image from Google Maps... There are some road bases that could be included as well, linked to Björka. Sjöbo (https://maps.app.goo.gl/99tbQwf6yAiRoeDv8), Revinge (https://maps.app.goo.gl/RDyAeFoX9UD3H1yn7) But both F10 and F5 where large air bases that were very actively used during the cold war (included in the yellow proposal above). Adding an image of a line of Drakens from F10 Ängelholm in the thick of the cold war... For the fun of it, I'm adding an image I took myself in another airbase in Skåne called Rinkaby (https://maps.app.goo.gl/FmYWNvkufqgKLRFj6) in 2009 where they had flown some of the Drakens to die... It was closed in the 60:ies as it was too short for jets. So not relevant for DCS. But just along the yellow line... The more relevant nearby airport in the yellow area from that time would be Everöd (https://maps.app.goo.gl/CWa9ad8yjW7DM9rFA). It was also used as a reserve base by the air force during the late cold war.
  12. My proposal does not include the Fulda gap... Now when that is promised and Berlin is already done there is no turning back My proposal was focused on avoiding the densely populated areas and cities where you have to get landmarks right etc... But it feels like a logical expansion to include more of the Baltic Sea/North Sea for carrier ops etc.
  13. Looking at the very interesting inclusion of Sweden and Denmark in the map that is great, the line unfortunately cuts out the military airfields in southern Sweden from the era. Those were F10 Ängelholm (J-35 Draken), F5 Ljungbyhed (SK-60 trainers) and F17 Kallinge (JA37/SH37 Viggens). Today only F17 is still operational with JAS-39 Gripens. Sure, there is a large civilian airport outside Malmö (Sturup) that is included. But there have never been military aircraft there. And the old Bulltofta airfield in Malmö (closed in 1972) had the F10 wing during WW2 but it moved to Ängelholm in 1945. So - with the current proposal there will be no military airbases in Sweden. A very small adjustment would include F10 and F5. A bit more and you get F17 that is still relevant today. For Denmark, the Rönne air base was used sometimes in the cold war but no permanent base in the 80:ies, and Værløse near Copenhagen that is included in the map had some C-130s and helicopters. So the relevant Danish base that could be included for late cold war is Skrydstrup that had F-16s and still have today. A small adjustment would include that as well. Otherwise no active Danish late cold war air bases will be on the map... I attach a screenshot from a CMANO Scenario I did called "Baltic Storm" where I have marked them and also included the phase 1/2 lines for the DCS Cold War Germany map. That scenario is mainly Soviet vs Sweden, but you get support from a squadron of F-16s in Skrydsrup and 4 F-35XDs on Bornholm EDIT: I see that my proposal got moved under this as I included Skrydsrup out of good manners to our Danish neighbors. But my main topic is the Swedish ones EDIT2: Added my propsal for Phase 2 in yellow and the optimal in violet to include F17 that is active today (as Skrydsrup). This would also include all of Sjealland and Fyn (the two big Danish islands), as that feels logical. The potential landing beach for a Soviet landing in Sweden is also in the yellow proposed area (the east coast of Skåne). Adding an image of the Kullen lighthouse I took flying an old swedish airforce SK-50 some months ago. That is the blue radar box under the F in the text "F10: J 35 Draken" on the image below that feels like a good "corner of the map". And a good place to hide Carriers Sadly 4 Swedish Vampires crashed into Kullen near this place in the late 50:ies, coming in very low and fast, in low visibilty conditions. It is actually rather high for this part of Sweden...
  14. Well, after the cold war Germany map press reveal, I still think that my final proposal was better with place for carriers, less populated areas, WW2 potential etc. But I am still very happy...
  15. Thanks @Dodge - late response as I have not visited this part of the forum lately. That is a typo and with all the confusing settings and mappings it is important to avoid them. I have updated the guide for the latest firmware and configuration tool (2024-12-16) and as I had to follow my own guide to get it right I did an update with screenshots from that version as well. And there have been some changes to the behaviour of the T1/T2/T3 setup now etc. Link to the new version in the first post.
  16. I have posted two tickets trying to get a refund for the F15E but just get ignored. And I have been a customer since Flanker 1.5 spending thousands of dollars on their products. It's interesting watching a company killing itself by not solving this embarrassing deadlock, that affects many of their loyal core customers. How much has ED lost on this major PR fiasco? Lets guess they have no one working with brand management, with KPIs measuring the perception of their brand by important customer groups. It must be scary reading. If they have it... I am pretty sure they don't.
  17. Wow - a thread that is not locked! A really interesting decision to do an F-35 without any data accept public sales information, tales from edited pilot interviews etc. Lets be positive as this opens up to World of Warplanes addons for WW2 that could be fun like the P.1101. As it did not fly there will be no right or wrong on the flight model and final performance There are probably written notes on what some old german testpilot thought it would fly like. I guess even Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe avoided aircraft that they did not have enough data on. The Ho 229 was tested quite a lot after the war but it might be in the fringe of credibility to be honest. But I guess there is more public information available on the Ho 229 than the F-35.
  18. And for the sake of it. 259 Gb space used for the highwater of the install... Naturally depending on the modules I have etc. First image - finalizing the download (E:) is where DCS is. 132 GB free Second after install is done. 391 GB free
  19. The last two updates have been downloading 120 Gb+ and then unpacking 220+. I have 500 Mbit unlimited data and enough space on my SSDs so not that much of a problem for me, but no way that all installed files have been updated and needs to be downloaded twice in short time? There seems to be some problem with the installer scanning for the files that need to be updated? Right now...
  20. Agreed - I have been supporting ED for decades and have more modules than I can count. Do not know how many hundred dollars I have sent their way. And right now I am not buying any until this is sorted out. I just realized that this embarrassing debacle made me stop playing any flight sims. Just updating now to try the F4 and the Kola map that I bought before I made the decision to pause DCS. Download not done and checked that I have 25 modules. A bunch on sale etc so lets say USD 50 each. Thats USD 1250... And then all maps, super carriers and other stuff. And Flanker 2.0, Lomac as well. Thats probably close to 2000 dollars... Thats actually money OK - just had one of my best flight sim experiences in the F4 that really feels like a vibrating piece of heavy metal with two big engines... And realizing that they have a big bunch of missions for all maps accept the WW2 ones in the day 1 release. And those vortices along the slats... Top that off with those button configuration lists So I guess I have to get back to flying DCS now, but not buying.
  21. Defender on Windows 11 finds the same thing with packunwan in "\Mods\aircraft\M-2000C\bin\M2KC_FM.dll" on my computer after running the update today. Uninstalling the Mirage 2000 immediately. Really sloppy to push ad/spyware in an official release (unless it's a false positive that is on Microsoft) - but I do not take any chances. Does not seem like a virus but does not matter.
  22. This whole debacle actually got me thinking about all the modules I have bought for DCS over the years. The core DCS platform is to 95% devloped in Moscow, with a mailbox in Switzerland. We then add a lot of really small teams around the world that develops modules mainly as a part time job... And we trust that they will really deliver the final products after years of development in early access mode. I really like the F15E module but it's far from done...
  23. I can agree with that. More like the cut in my original proposal. But then stretching to UK... It is really not that much land. And I think that too much time in the maps is spent on cities that scares them away from maps like this. Just add rather generic repeating buildings and industrial areas.
  24. It would surprise me a lot if the complete lack of any high fidelity REDFOR modules is for real? ED is a Russian company (with a mailbox/account in a small Swiss town). Almost all the maps like Caucus, Syria etc. are the places where Russia has been fighting recently. So it would surprise me a LOT if there is no Russian military version with good high fidelity modules of Su-27/35s, Su-34s etc... What was the classic included map for Flanker 2.0, LOMAC etc? Crimea... Not any more in the version we are playing at least. And to train it's nice to have high fidelity models of F-15, F-16 and F/A-18s naturally.
  25. Thanks! I was so frustrated that binding a switch to front / back seat did not work... Could swap to back seat fine, but not from the back seat to the front seat after that... But the keyboard 1 worked... Realized after your post that I have to go to the WSO key mappings to set the switch to front seat there...
