  1. Thanks! You do know that Libre Office (one of the Open Office forks) is open source so it is a free download? Get it from https://www.libreoffice.org/ And Word is not the equivalent product from Microsoft for Open Office Draw. That would be Visio. The reason I did them in Open Office Draw and not Visio or similar is to enable as many as possible to edit them. Many have MS Office, but not with Visio which is not part of the standard version. Happy editing!
  2. I did download and enjoy that map for BMS! Thanks a lot for your efforts - it must have been many hours to do that map! And looking at you sig I have flown an Astir over that terrain ILR too
  3. I'm a glass half full guy and it feels like the FPS is up 20 in 2.7... So smooth and beautiful. Like a new game. Specs in sig.
  4. OK - I agree that my initial post was way too offensive. I wrote it in affect just after two crashes trying to remove the excess modules and was rather irritated. As an old developer gone IT-manager I realize that poorly implemented features and functionality in software really annoys me more than it should My days are spent discussing how to improve different software solutions for millions of customers... So being anonymous here I can whine in a childish way, instead of the constructive feedback I would send to one of my own teams. They naturally hate wining end users ignoring instructions and messing things up The problem is that all startup dialogs are ignored for software that you trust. Not so much for others. My proposal is that a dialog is implemented the way I proposed earlier. After the free trial is over - show a dialog with: "The free trial is over - do you want to remove the modules you do not own?" Stressed people that trust ED will just click OK - which is fine Ending up like me with 15 unlicensed modules that crash the game trying to unistall them is no good for business... As i love DCS I will come back and fix it. Right now I play other sims instead.
  5. Well - the dialog that listed "the following modules will be installed / updated..." came on first boot after I had switched motherboard and CPU I thought that the copy protection system did a "fresh install" as the SSD with DCS was essentially was in a new computer. Only GPU and soundcard from old build. So as I own 15-20 modules I did not read through the list - and besides, it would not be that strange that it downloaded modules that I do not own to be agle to show them in full res etc? As it has never before downloaded modules that I have not bought and there is an update every other time you start the game I did not read through the text. Am I stupid not doing that and worthy to be laughed at? So - if I get them to try out with just one OK it would be nice to get a dialog with "The free trial is over - do you want to uninstall the following modules that you don't own"? Why would I want to have modules that I do not own installed and warnings for 15 modules that are not activated in the next step etc?
  6. Thanks @Northstar98 - as I own quite a bunch of modules and had not been running DCS for a while I guess that I assumed it wanted to update a bunch of them and clicked OK...
  7. OK - started to try removing the Christen Eagle module that I don't own - and DON'T want to try even for free. Then VR get's out of focus and the game crashes after 3 minutes with the updater over the VR window. So I can't get rid of the crap that I did not want. Someone from ED PM me as I am gone as a customer if this is not fixed very easily or I am compensated for the mess you have caused with my installation.
  8. So - Have not been flying DCS for a while due to lots of work... Started it some week ago to try my new RTX 3070 and got some indication of it downloading every module there is without me accepting that. Part of some "try modules for free"? I did NOT say yes. So now I get spammed with activation problems for modules I don't own - and for the Flaming Cliffs 3 modules I DO own... I am so close to uninstalling this and walking away from this. I have spent a lot of cash over the years on this product... So how do I fix this without a restart for deleting each module I never said I wanted?
  9. Agreed. Tried changing the title but it doesn't seem possible. Any mod can please change it to the "subtitle" that is visible on the first post.
  10. Did some more thinking on this based on other baltic proposals... It really would be nice to squeeze in Kaliningrad and some Baltic coast line without adding to much more ground to model. So: And yes - that deleted area can have elevation but no details like in other maps. It deletes Berlin etc that would be great to have - but focusing on the "coastal areas" removes more than 50% of the European densely populated ground to model... And there are so many scenarios that can take place on this. Cold war, WW II and present day with Russian fighters from Kaliningrad probing the Swedish and Danish air defences every week lately... And like before - only really big cities are Hamburg and Copenhagen. With this the Gdynia / Gdansk area is added as well that is a ~500k poulated area. Groningen is 200k. But make cities rather generic - this is a military sim not a sight seeing sim like others.
  11. Even though I would love this map coming from Sweden (with a mother that was born in Estonia but fled to Sweden in 1944 when the Soviets invaded). The problem for a cold war scenario is that there really are no Nato airfields on this map. It's almost all red. One Swedish (F16 Uppsala) and really no Finnish as it cuts below Tampere-Pirkkala. That is why I finally proposed this in my Southern Baltic proposal - https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=239656. In that area you get bases for all. Lots of WP bases, Western Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden and even US bases in the UK that is interesting both for cold war - but especially for WWII. And a lot of water for Carrier ops that is important in DCS. I have a hard time seeing a NATO carrier entering the baltic Sea in any Cold war scenario. But in the north east corner of the proposal in my image above it makes sense? My initial proposal in that thread included more of the Baltics and Kaliningrad that is interesting. But that ends up with to much ground that takes time to model... Looking at the cut below it would make sense to extend it eastwards to Kaliningrad actually.
  12. No, it's a analogue mini joystick with an X and Y axis. So I bind it that way. It needs a bit of deadzone added as it's not using Virpil/VKB class sensors for the axes. But for slew which is the main binding that's not needed and it works great for me. The stick is a bit taller than the X-Box type mini sticks used on other devices so a bit more "throw" ;)
  13. The reason I use a G13 is that I bought it long time ago for other purposes. It was in a box gathering dust for years when I realized that I might be able to use it some way with my Hotas setup in VR, as finding the keyboard is way too complex. I realized that this setup works surprisingly well. The Virpil desk mount almost feels like it's built for it. But the G13 is discontinued now which many are sad about. From what I understand used ones go for 300 quid these days... There are similar products but they don't have the analog thumb stick that works very well for slew control in DCS.
  14. I have realized that I really don't use the flip down trigger for the F18 as it is now, so if you come up with a good use I would be happy to know! An important note is that I also use a Logitech G13 keypad for slew control so that's why they are not in the mapping. The G13 ministick is great for that... My full setup with Virpil Hotas + G13 and template for that... https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=242821
  15. Well - I'll be damned... Reminded Tomas today that I was promised a GLS link - did not expect any answer but amazingly got a response back rather immediately where he said it should be in Sweden since a week. Checked and GLS that uses DB Schenker in Sweden had messed something up in the "handover" so it was at my local pickup center since a week without me being notifed. Whent there after work and after 1 year of waiting I still did not beleive it... Got the package with Realteus tape nicely padded. Still did not beleive there was a Forcefeel pad in it... But it was :) And amazingly it fitted my chair perfectly... And I contacted Andre and bought Simshaker Wings with the Forcefeel option (as the included Simshaker Wings license from Realteus does not work as Tomas did not pay Andre). Naturally got a response from Andre and the keys immediately. Started IL2 - worked directly like a charm. Downloaded Simshaker for Aviators and started DCS - everything worked like a charm on the first try. Downloaded Simhub and enabled the Shakeit Motors plugin with Forcefeel. Started Assetto Corsa Competizione. Worked like a charm on the first try. ...My house will probably get hit by the only flying airliner in the air that runs out of fuel right now - this luck can't continue :)
  16. Well - I would say the ED is in the top tier regarding communicating what is happening with road maps etc. The latest ones from Kate are just awesome. And switching rendering engine is not something where you can post screenshots before the bulk of the work is done. I guess there is a lot of refactoring of old code going on now in hundreds of classes and dark corners of the code base. Tedious basement work that takes a lot of time. Before that is done it simply does not work with Vulkan so nothing to show?
  17. Well - three weeks ago I got an email that "tomorrow you will get a tracking ID from GLS". Not a word from either Realteus or GLS since that...
  18. It's really sad that they removed the detents... The problem naturally is that some people have reported that they wear out, but I have been using my T50 V2 for a year now rather extensively and the detents feel as crisp and nice as they did day one. The detents are actually awesome on the V2, a very nice metallic "deep" click and perfect friction to "push through". They really should get them back with some updated design and write a disclaimer that they might wear out with time. Even if they would lose some click power after a while (not seen it in mine) - I am pretty sure that there will be some detent feeling left. I guess the problem is that a non ignorable percentage of the V1 and V2 users got problems with them and with their full right demanded a replacement to be sent. This really is too bad as my V2 detents works great. I will not upgrade to a throttle without a detent. In a Jet sim it is way too important to have. And this is THE minus of the new CM2 that every reviewer mentions. It's just mechanical engineering which is a parade dicipline of the region. And it needs to be fixed... PS. I had a Logitech G940 for 10 years+ and the detents did wear out with time - but they never went away completely. And I was fine with that, even if they where very "weak" in the end I could still feel them.
  19. Well - a 1440p monitor almost doubles the number of pixels vs 1080p (2,1M vs 3,7M). So yes - that is more noticable than one might think. I bought an Asus ROG Swift PG279Q 27 inch 1440p monitor a year ago and I love it coming from a good 1080p monitor. Night and day. And above 24 inch, you really start to see the pixels in a 1080p monitor... I never play any simulators on it though - My Valve Index is my real "precious" ;)
  20. I was minengeschoss shocked :)
  21. My "default" test mission in another sim that has terrain that overlaps the Georgia map is to fly an Me 109 on a free flight over Novorossijsk / Gelendzhik where I usually land at the Gelendzhik airport. Some year ago I did a DCS mission over the same area in an F/A-18C instead to compare them. I also added two Messerschmitt 109's to the mission... So now I found the mission and had forgotten what I did and started it. Fooled around for a while and then went in to land on Gelendzhik. Just as I was preparing to turn in on final approach my plane was ripped in pieces in a second. What? Had forgotten about those 109's that had probably been chasing me for a while - and then got the prefect kill while landing. Just the way that the Mustangs and Tempests killed the Me 262 jets during the war :) Kudos to the 109 AI pilot. Perfect intercept of a target that never saw him coming ;)
  22. Well - half an hour ago I got this email: Thank you for reaching out. We are sorry for the delay in response, as we're currently experiencing high traffic. We will fulfil and dispatch your pre-order EU#xxxx tomorrow. We will send you the tracking link for the GLS, once we have it from our logistics partner. Any bets I will not get a mail from GLS tomorrow? But still - someone is alive / out of jail and answered!
  23. Nope. No information after that image of Tomas standing with the boxes in the background. That was posted a month ago and no one has received their products. If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck... This is a scam now - even though I think that Tomas intended to actually deliver what we paid for initially before he messed stuff up with the production etc. I have refrained from using the "scam card" for a year now - but I'm tired of this crap... Is that image really from this batch / year? What annoys me is that I still believe somewhere in the back of my head that I will get what I paid for in the end. And therefore I have not put an order with Andre. Shame on me...
  24. OK - updated my firmware to latest version and without this guide I would have been lost myself :) So fixed some errors and added that it works with software / firmware version 2020-02-04.
  25. Got the same email. So if it's not an old image from the batch last year they at least have 180 units. 12 boxes on each of the 3 pallets with 5 units in each box... But 400+ orders - so let's see what happens.
