Strange - I am super happy with my V2 short mounts for my Warbrd and T50 (V2) throttle. They don't flex at all for me. Maybe it is dependent on the desk type you mount it on? And the fact that it is located a bit back feels really good for me as well, I don't use my keyboard at all playing in VR with a Logitech G13 mounted on top of my left V2 mount for everything that needs a keyboard:

Sorry - had updated to a new version 1.2 and forgot to update the link. The original post is now updated. -
Editable button layout template for Logitech G13

It really works great this way for VR. I put a square plate with nylon straps on top of the Virpil V2 desk mount top. Then put 3M Dual Lock on that and the underside of the G13. It sits like it's bolted to the mount, but is still possible to detach. And with that position in VR you can just extend your palm so the wrist rests on the top of the throttle while using the mini stick for TDC slew. And the precision in the TDC is awesome. After this I actually don't miss having an analog mini-stick on my throttle at all... It feels like it's made for this setup :) Had to sand the G13 edges though with fine sanding paper as it was a bit sharp. -
Sounds great, just going to see if I can cancel my Realteus order and get my cash back. Not much hope of succeeding with that as they have stopped answering emails. If they would just communicate I would stick with my order...
-
When I ordered he was out of stock, and it seemed uncertain when the 8-motor version would be in stock - so I took the clickbait of ordering for the Realteus "May batch" in April... :)
-
Agreed, this feels more like a new Kickstarter ;) But I really want the product and I am willing to wait. As long as I get updates.
-
Nice - your story brings back memories :) I had Project Stealth Fighter for my Spectrum. Never got any games as presents either, but got a lot of computers with the hope of me getting an interest for that. Played a lot of computer games that was not appreciated but ended up as a CIO so I guess their investment payed off anyway ;) Thanks to those flight sims way back when that was the spark for the developer career. I don't think that I would have kept my interest in computers without Fighter Pilot, Stealth Fighter and Red Baron etc... And imagine if we could have seen DCS in VR back then playing Fighter Pilot at 2 FPS to show a flat landscape with a wireframe airfield that looked like a shoe box. And here the kids complain when they cannot get 90 FPS with full details in their Index headsets Luxury!

Nice review. It would be great to actually get it as I think that it would be great for VR immersion. Ordered in April. Like I said above I think that Thomas is an honest enthusiast that unfortunately have trouble getting the stuff produced in China... No scammer. But if they only sent an update to the customers that have ordered and paid for the product every month we would be a lot more patient.

I just checked my order at the Realteus site and that works for me. But no updates the last month about the status.

Well, in my heart I am a supporter as well and very happy that companies like Virpil exist as there was a long drought of new joysticks on the market for years before them and VKB. After that second trigger failure directly after getting the repaired device back, I am just a bit less supporter right now - but I will get over it ;)

Editable button layout templates for T-50 Throttles and Grips
mazex replied to mazex's topic in VIRPIL Controls
Thanks Baur, and here we go - a quick hacked template for the version 3 of the Throttle. I don't have it so I don't know the correct button ID's etc. and as seen it is copy paste of assignments as I have version 2 myself with less switches on the grip. But it is editable so just hack away... It gets a bit crowded as well with all the new switches ;) And yes - as seen this template is not "clean" but my own F18 mappings. Just change to whatever you like As before - you need Libre Office Draw (open source) to open and edit the template yourself. And look at the manual I wrote earlier in this thread to see how to set up the three different modes to use this template (the colour coded stuff with different button assignments depending on the mode switch position) Screenshot: Download link: https://sites.google.com/site/mazexx/files/F18_T-50_Throttle_V3_DCS_v1.1.odg?attredirects=0&d=1 EDIT: version 1.1 already forgot new rotary.... -
First - you as a person is naturally not relevant here. You represent Virpil. Period. With a policy like that and no flexibilty, I really don't understand how you cannot see that this is a case where Virpil do not trust me to actually return the old device if you send the replacement first, as you have already accnowleged that you will not try to repair it again - but I will get a replacement sent to me as soon as you get the old grip back? I am a customer that have been rather affected by quality issues in your products twice and doing that would make this a LOT less annoying for me as you might understand? And this is how successful companies handle situations like this today to aviod social media badwill like this discussion, that costs a lot more. You know my real name from the order. You have my approval to look up my LinkedIn profile, but not spreading my real name here. After that I hope that you understand that I have some knowledge about what is customary? And I know how my company would handle it. But it's clear that we are not getting anyway here - so lets stop this waste of time and getting your company more badwill, as I actually want you to succeed ;) Later this fall when I get tired of playing around with new stuff in the F18 I guess I will come back to you and schedule a couple of more weeks of ground time ;)
-
Like I said, I was annoyed the first time waiting a month to get a grip that did not work when I got it fixed - but I did not rant about it here. If you put yourself in my shoes where I get it back and the same problem then comes back immediately - how would you react? So - I am not interested to wait for two weeks again without a joystick so you can contact me when you get your systems that you feel that you need as you don't trust your customers set up, or if someone in management realizes that this is one of the situations where you just need to take the risk of not getting that faulty grip back.
-
Yes - sorry for that broad generalization of the Virpil customer group :) I am however quite certain that the Virpil customer group are dedicated hardware affectionados that are willing to part with hundreds of dollars to get the best gear money can buy. We come here to help out other similar people just because we love our hobby. And generalizing from that I have a feeling that we are the type of customers that would definately send back a grip after receiving a replacement. We trusted Virpil by wiring hundreds of dollars to a small company in Belarus - return that trust please.

Looking at your video it surprises even me that is not a mechanical engineer how poorly designed that second stage trigger solution looks. Look at that red extension on the trigger that is supposed to press the switch - but is very thin and hits it on "the edge": If they had just added some more plastic on the extension as shown by the red fillet triangle below it would have a much better chance to actually press it more evently: And if they added a small "cap" on top of that yellow rubber switch (shown in cyan below) it would have a much bigger area to hit and the pressure would be around the whole edge of the button like the spring for the stage one trigger - the negative beeing the hard click instead of the extension hitting rubber: Sigh - amazing that we are having this discussion. I am actually thinking of dismantling the joystick I just bought that was not working when I got it... Viripils main problem is trust as their products are generally great but people from the west are a bit scared about putting down around 1000 USD with a small company in Belarus that seem to have serious production problems. Will they actually deliver the goods? Will they be around to support the product with drivers next year when Windows 10 version 2003 causes USB connection issues? What will happen if the product breaks down some way? Will I have to wait for ages sending it to Belarus via Lithuania? Here we are now eroding that trust in public as they did not trust us customers instead, sending a replacement first and then trusting that we would return the old grip after receiving the replacement... That is just bad business - or actually stupid. Virpil - I think it's a fair bet to guess that people that can afford to put down USD 1000 on a Hotas setup are honest rich tech nerds that drive BMW's and Porsches. We don't try to scam someone to keep an old faulty joystick grip or sell it second hand for USD 50. OK?
-
Thanks guys! Well, getting a "handcrafted" product in this price range that is not working out of box is kind of annoying. Getting it back after weeks with the same problem even more so. It would be something with a mass produced bulk product but we are talking of very limited series. That you had exactly the same problem out of the box is really not encouraging as I thought I had a "Monday sample". They claimed to have changed both the trigger and the switch when they did their service that did not work out... But I have done a fair bit of soldering and tinkering over the years so it seems like this is the way we have to do it until Virpil catches up with how to handle customer care - and redesign the trigger as it obviously has design problems... Virpil needs to understand that threads like this costs them many sales instead of just sending you and me a replacement without any discussion, and trusting that we will return the faulty device after that. That would have been the smart move...

Hi, Even though I like a lot about the Virpil products I would like to warn you that their support is not impressive if something breaks down. You might have to be without your gear for a long time if something happens, especially if you are further away from Lithuania / Belarus than I am from Sweden. The trigger of my CM2 grip was not working when I got it. The second trigger stage just worked intermittently so I sent a video showing it and asked for a replacement. They where quick to respond but even though they accnowleged that QC should have cought this, I had to send my joystick to Lithuania and wait for almost a month until it got back. After the package that I traced arrived in Lithuania they had it there for 2 weeks before sending it back over mountains, hills and oceans. So - after using it for 2 weeks exactly the same problem arised. I sent a question back to their support and they said they where very sorry but I had to send it to Lithuania again before they could send a replacement... Incuding a courier of their choosing picking it up only during businees hours so staying home from work again etc to get it away. I can accept that the first problem (even though it never should have passed quality control) was a case where I had to send in the grip and give them a chance to repair it instead of sending a replacement. When they "fix it" and the same problem arises there is only one way to handle it in my opinion. Send me a new grip and then I return the broken one to them when I get it. Why should I be without a stick for weeks the second time it happens? I have given my old G940 to a friend so that would mean weeks without a stick (again)... They replied that this time if would be prioritized in Lithuania and not stay there for 2 weeks so it would be much faster than the last time... Sigh - it still has to get to Lithuania and back that is ~2 weeks based on the last time. And it was not prioritized the first time? Really? So I replied that I am not interested in being without my joystick for a couple of weeks more and will have to live with that the trigger is not working. I don't use it that much in DCS (not for the F18 at least) but I like having it mapped to stage 1 = MGs and stage 2 = MG + Cannons in another WW2 sim i fly. They did not even bother to answer that. I will for sure stop doing button layout templates and community software guides that I had started doing before this happened ;) EDIT: And being a small company providing a niche product I have really waited to give them many chances to sort this out in some way that makes me a fairly happy customer. Even though I was rather irritated about the first return, I did not post anyting about that problem here. This is not the case now after the problem got back again and their solution is the same - me waiting without a stick for weeks. Sitting here with a non-working second trigger stage that will stay that way, naturally makes me a bit more restrictive in my joy. This is just what I was afraid of when ordering from a small company like this. What if something breaks down and I will have to wait for weeks sending it to Lithuania? OK one time but when they have did not fix the problem the first time, waiting a second time is a no-go if you want me to continue buying your products at least. Note: if anyone from Virpil gets here and responds that this is not their view of what has happened I will happily post the whole email chain with their support ;) But - I would like to emphasise that if your Virpil gear works it truly is awesome!

Do you know if there is a wireframe of the version 3 somehwhere? There was one for the V2 but if there are only color photos of it I would need to do a lot of work to get that into a "clean" wireframe like for the V2. -
Arghh! Why did I not know this until now? Has annoyed the living daylights out of me (using a Vive) where it during loading pops back and forth into the "grid". Thanks a lot!
-
Well - 98% those 48 that are in abandoned carts can be considered dead I think - so there are still over 70 left in the batch that is still waiting for a slot to be produced in China? If they won't start the batch until all have been sold we are in for a long wait I guess with all the badwill they are accumulating all over the interweb...

Found a post on the Realteus site with an image from a sim setup with the comment written 2 weeks ago with "A new review of the second generation of the #forcefeel haptic gaming pad is coming in the next few days!" https://www.instagram.com/p/B0oB2T2ITo5/ So - if that is true, someone has received a seat from the "new / may / summer"-batch...

Like many others here... Download the Chuck guide for the aircraft. Then read one chapter - do it a couple of times. Then the next... I rather early learned the basics of the editor to set up a simple single player scenario where I start in the air and change the loadout to whatever I want to try out. Have two Shilkas and a radar beside the runway of a field in front of me and two tankers with a destroyer in the water off the coast. They have all died a thousand deaths... After that you can dive into one of the threads here about "how do I use the TGP with the Mav E" and actually understand what people are talking about :) And the two Shilkas will not know what hit them (again) if everything goes according to plan... Many times they naturally wonder why that plane fired a missile into the forest 2 miles away, but they are used to it by now ;) And then I take them out with my guns if everything else fails... It's a matter of principle.

Well, I am pretty sure that Realteus is not trying to scam us. They have invested in a rather nice web page an a bunch of people have received their seats and are rather happy with them. It's just a small 1-2 man show in the Chech Republic trying to provide a niche product to us nerds in this forum that are having trouble getting their dreams into reality. So - obviously they are having trouble producing the stuff in China, and they can't just fly an engineer over to the factory and go over the changes with the production team etc. They get some slot in a factory that does hundreds of similar products to other companies. Their leverage with management in the Chinese factory is probably very limited and their experience of communicating with Chinese production engineers is lacking. Lots of angry emails have probably been sent back and forth. So I will wait as I actually want the Realteus seat. For me I want something that can be on my office chair all the time if possible and the Jetseat with that orange border will not fly with my wife ;) Other than that I am sure the Jetseat performs in a similar way, and if the Realteus does not arrive I will go that route. But when I put my order I was very aware that paying those 160 EUR was more like supporting a Kickstarter project. I mentally put the odds at 50/50 to actually get the product and thought that was worth it. I also wanted to support someone trying to get a product like this to the market. The only other option was the Jetseat that was impossible to order at that time (as the 8-motor versions where sold out then). So I will give them some more slack. And if needed the effort of a legal process will take quite a few hours of forms to fill out, emails back and forth that is not worth 160 EUR for me. And I have a very experienced e-commerce lawyer that I can use on my company... He has better stuff to do though. If I would have been explicitly scammed it's a different thing as that is more of a matter of princples.
-
I got a reply via email to a question about the status of my April order last week from them so someone is working there at least. They said the production issues with the second batch that they noticed regarding the motors took longer time than expected to fix... No new date. It COULD actually be the truth... Well - getting the money back is probably a tedious process (if at all possible without more effort than 160 EUR worth). So let's all sit in a big ring, holding hands singing Kumbaya and hope that our seats will come some day ;)
-
Well, that kind of rules out the southern Baltic that I think would be good for both WW2 and Cold War ;) Rules out all modern conflict areas as well with dusty deserts... And how fun is Korea to fly over even though I would love to have that map... And the cliffs of Dover? Not super fun at least accept the iconic white cliffs that every aircraft interested person naturally want to pass in a Spitfire Mk I or II (that we don't have). So really, it has to be some pacific islands, Vietnam (with a Huey - who wouldn't want to do that?) or a small Mach Loop training map...
