  1. Not taking that bet up - like giving 5€ away ;)
  2. Got this in an email 3 days ago (friday the 17:th of January): We are glad to inform that the new production batch is currently on the way. It is arriving from the manufacturer in China via sea to the nearest port. The production of the 460 pieces batch is already finished and most of the stocks are on the way to our warehouse in Europe. The products will reach the destination port on the 20th of January, from there they will be transferred to our fulfillment centre in the Czech Republic to make the final dispatch of the pre-orders. We will update you on when we have your tracking number of the dispatched product, which is a new ForceFeel series. There it will be sent via our distribution center to your address. As a special thanks, we'll include an extension power cable suitable for custom and larger gaming setups which require longer extension cables. We would like to be notified of any change of the delivery address, in order to send the item correctly, to the right destination. Please confirm this for us. Again, we would like to reiterate our apology to you. Thank you for your support. Sincerely, Tomas Realteus
  3. This post saved me from madness. Have been fiddeling around for 2 hours reading manuals until my eyes bled. Just as the OP my target HUD symbology "dropped" out of the HUD. When changing to 400 meters instead of 200 as the manual and Chucks guide says it works like a charm (ish ;)). But - with that said - any way to change the "safety height"? And - after the first joy as I almost get it right now, I realized that I normally drop a bit short. So: * I have set the QFE correctly for the target (I think - when looking at the target in the HUD the circle is spot on) * I have SI Slave off * I am using the radar altimeter (is that right?) and fly at 400 meters (on the HUD). * I press "safety bracket off" when the dot is in the target circle. Then the dot "stops" in the circle. * I drop the bombs right after the "wings" on the target reticle appear. Normally the bombs land about 100 meter short but often kill the target anyway with the last bomb. Any advice?
  4. Have you seen a Gripen in the air? The thing is that it turns extremely hard - without any excessive alpha. It looks like it just carvs through the air. I remember an airshow in Denmark where a Danish F-16, a German Eurofighter and a Gripen where flying after each other. The Eurofighter does these crazy high alpha double afterburner slow sliding turns, the F-16 looking more nimble but a lot of "sliding" - and then the Gripen that looks like it can turn 30% faster with hardly any alpha or loosing any speed. Just slicing the air. And from going straight to full turn in no time at all. Look at this video from 2 minutes and forward: And this diagram claims that the new Gripen E should be close to 30 degrees in sustained turn ratio. But that seems over the top even though some test pilot of the E said it should be labeled a 10G fighter instead of 9G... And the chart looks fishy overall - seems like all the Eurocanards are "dream performing" - the F-15 should do better than that etc. It looks like the F-16 matches what has been said in this thread rather well though - but the F18 should be a bit better? 5. ...During Red Flag the Gripens didn't even need to use their EWS39. They remained undetected anyway. And no disrespect to the Norwegian pilots because I know they're just as well trained as us, but during a combat exercise with the Royal Norwegain Air Force, 3 Swedish Gripens went up against 5 RNAF F-16's. The Result was 5-0, 5-0, 5-1 after having flown 3 rounds. During Loyal Arrow in Sweden, 3 F-15C's from the USAF were intercepted by a Gripen acting as an aggressor. The result was 2 F-15's having been shot down and one managed to escape due to better thrust/weight. One Gripen pilot knocked down five F-16 block 50+ during close air combat in Red Flag Alaska. And the Gripens never lost any aerial encounter, or failed their mission objectives. It was the only fighter that perfomed all planed starts, while others where sitting on the ground waiting for the weather to clear up F-16 has a higher TWR, but one need to consider drag and wing loading too. The Gripen has much lower drag. And far lower wing loading. It can reach supersonic speeds on dry thrust while carrying a full armament of four AMRAAM's two Sidewinders and an external fuel tank. Even though the Gripen lacks the TWR of the F-16 it can nearly match it in climb rate thanks to low drag. The Gripen has positive lift on all control surfaces at all times. The F-16 needs to kill lift in order to turn by forcing the tail down. The Gripen just adds lift in front of the CG with the canards and the aircraft turns by itself. The canards then stabilize the turn rate, creating minimal drag. The IRIS-T is now being integrated for the Gripen. And with its modern infrastructure it can make much better use of it than the F-16. The Gripens ITR is much better than the F-16's and will therefore get its weapons on the F-16 first. The Mirage 2000 for example wins 9 times out of 10 against the F-16 in WVR, and nearly always kills the F-16 during the first turn. This is thanks to its higher ITR. And the Gripen has a higher ITR than the Mirage 2000. Gripen is pretty much as agile it can get. G onset rate at least 6 G/s (1-9 G in 1.2 s), the Gripen platform is designed with tactics in mind. Gripen fight not only with missiles and bullets but with information, superior situation awareness is the key in modern warfare.. 6. Sorry to confuse you. Should have started with that I completely agree with your post :)
  7. And regarding P38s from Saipan: "By late 1944, Lockheed P-38s of the 318th were routinely flying missions to Truk and Iwo Jima from Saipan—1,500-mile (2,400 km), 8-hour trips." From the Wikipedia page about the 318th FG that was based on Saipan - mainly with P47s but also P38s. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/318th_Fighter_Group These fighters also participated in the defense of the Marinas from Japanese air attacks on the Marinas after the US capture: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_air_attacks_on_the_Mariana_Islands
  8. Read this - during the capture of the Marinas Islands that took quite a while - P47s based on Saipan played an important role with tons of missions flown: https://books.google.se/books?id=CDWtdzMt9AEC&pg=PA691&lpg=PA691&dq=p47+tinian&source=bl&ots=0QZPllG9x2&sig=ACfU3U1QoZNhksDz9pfN333EboPuurUZnA&hl=sv&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwididWgtOzmAhUJxosKHQKkCl4Q6AEwBnoECAMQAQ#v=onepage&q=p47%20tinian&f=false The battle of Saipan and the landing there was one of the major operations of the Pacific war - and the continued operations in Guam and Tinian. There is definitely material for a nice P47 campaign starting with those first P47s landing on Aslito on the 22nd going right into the fight to capture Saipan first and then Guam and Tinian.
  9. Looks good, both for historic WWII and fictional cold war or present day. And we seriously need a Zero now, that where based on both Guam, Saipan and Tinian... Or maybe a KI-84 or N1K2-J to better match the late war planeset for the other nations? Or a J2M Raiden maybe? "The Raiden made its combat debut in June 1944 during the Battle of the Philippine Sea. Several J2Ms operated from Guam and Saipan and a small number of aircraft were deployed to the Philippines." Some Google results looking at what the Japanese had there in 1944... Saipan: https://www.pacificwrecks.com/airfields/marianas/aslito/index.html https://www.pacificwrecks.com/airfields/marianas/marpi/index.html Guam: As of June 1, 1944, Japanese air strength on Guam consisted of 100 Zeros and 10 J1N1 Irvings at Airfield No. 1 and 60 P1Y Ginga at Airfield No. 2. https://www.pacificwrecks.com/airfields/marianas/orote/index.html https://www.pacificwrecks.com/airfields/marianas/agana/index.html And there where P-47, P51, F4u and P-38 fighters based on Saipan. And naturally a big heap of B-29s where both Enola Gay and Bockscar took off from Tinian... Speaking of that - Tinian airbase is now being setup as a divert Airfield for Anderson base at Guam: https://www.airforcetimes.com/news/your-air-force/2016/02/11/u-s-pacific-air-forces-chooses-tinian-island-as-divert-airfield/
  10. Since the old F3 days we learnt that you should be around 450 when turning the Viper for maximum turn rate. So 650 is way to fast. As reference the old JAS Gripen C turns 20+ degrees per second at around 450, and even though it turns a bit better than the F16 they are rather evenly matched according to pilots I have spoken to that have been doing exercises against F-16s...
  11. With so many of us that finally did report this as fraud to our credit card companies, my guess is that Realteus are beyond saving... The international payment world is controlled by Visa / Master Card and Realteus are on their blacklists now. And their excuse that problems with their payment provider this summer made them shut down customer communications for six months, while still accepting orders, is just silly...
  12. I just got tired of this and tried sending an email to support@realteus.com - but got a response that their MX record does not exist (so their mail domain is gone / locked down). So I guess that they are gone now - with our money.
  13. It really saddens me to see a company that at least initially wanted to make a niche product for our narrow market fail so badly. If they just would have updated their blog with a post every month at least, stating what is happening(assuming they are actually planning to produce the product) - they would have a completely different situation. Anyone doing research on the Realteus seat now will find this thread and all the angry replies on their Facebook page... November has passed and the page still says "Estimated delivery November".
  14. And it says pledged? When I ordered in April it was an order for the May batch. Period. I did not pledge, I ordered a product with a delivery promise of next month and paid for it... And if they are "converting" this retrospectively to a private Kickstarter you only pay if it meets the goal.
  15. T50 Throttle: 43 cm from edge of desk to back of throttle WarBRD + CM2: 31 cm from edge of desk to back of WarBRD base On my way to a drink party so you will have to do the cm to inch yourself ;) And by the way, I have the VKB T-Rudder MK4 that I love, and work well not moving as you are pressing semi-down. For me as an old IRL pilot that feels just right!
  16. Updated to version 0.61 (see top post for DL link)
  17. Ohh - I have pushed it more, and I REALLY LOVE the flight model. In the F18 you can do those silly standing almost still in the air at 70 degrees alpha chucking around like a model aircraft. In the F16 it behaves much more credibly in low speed / high alpha. Sure - the F18 is supposed to have better nose authority in low speed, but you can do things today that not even the Finnish F18 demo pilots would dream of ;) Not that I have flown any fly by wire fighters IRL - closest is a Swedish SK-60 :)
  18. Agreed. With my Index the F18 displays are very readable but not so in the F16... Gotta see if something has changed. But other than that the F16 is super awesome. Have been doing some MK82 CCIP bombing runs and it's almost too easy to hit the targets!
  19. Strange - I am super happy with my V2 short mounts for my Warbrd and T50 (V2) throttle. They don't flex at all for me. Maybe it is dependent on the desk type you mount it on? And the fact that it is located a bit back feels really good for me as well, I don't use my keyboard at all playing in VR with a Logitech G13 mounted on top of my left V2 mount for everything that needs a keyboard:
  20. Sorry - had updated to a new version 1.2 and forgot to update the link. The original post is now updated.
  21. It really works great this way for VR. I put a square plate with nylon straps on top of the Virpil V2 desk mount top. Then put 3M Dual Lock on that and the underside of the G13. It sits like it's bolted to the mount, but is still possible to detach. And with that position in VR you can just extend your palm so the wrist rests on the top of the throttle while using the mini stick for TDC slew. And the precision in the TDC is awesome. After this I actually don't miss having an analog mini-stick on my throttle at all... It feels like it's made for this setup :) Had to sand the G13 edges though with fine sanding paper as it was a bit sharp.
  22. Sounds great, just going to see if I can cancel my Realteus order and get my cash back. Not much hope of succeeding with that as they have stopped answering emails. If they would just communicate I would stick with my order...
  23. When I ordered he was out of stock, and it seemed uncertain when the 8-motor version would be in stock - so I took the clickbait of ordering for the Realteus "May batch" in April... :)
  24. Agreed, this feels more like a new Kickstarter ;) But I really want the product and I am willing to wait. As long as I get updates.
  25. Nice - your story brings back memories :) I had Project Stealth Fighter for my Spectrum. Never got any games as presents either, but got a lot of computers with the hope of me getting an interest for that. Played a lot of computer games that was not appreciated but ended up as a CIO so I guess their investment payed off anyway ;) Thanks to those flight sims way back when that was the spark for the developer career. I don't think that I would have kept my interest in computers without Fighter Pilot, Stealth Fighter and Red Baron etc... And imagine if we could have seen DCS in VR back then playing Fighter Pilot at 2 FPS to show a flat landscape with a wireframe airfield that looked like a shoe box. And here the kids complain when they cannot get 90 FPS with full details in their Index headsets Luxury!
