  1. Unsure why that message was deleted but I got the email, and he suggested to remain in pre mode when pressing load. Bingo, it works!! It’s confusing that the vhf radios can save from man mode, but being different radio heads it’s totally conceivable thats true irl Issue resolved, thrilled!
  2. I tested on the latest open beta, still not functioning as I expect. Instant Action, Nevaada: Takeoff start. Track is attached. Video demo /w explanation is here: https://1drv.ms/v/s!Aknk7ypReuhpjIAxxkyO6NaR_EOVkg?e=C1EQ9q In text, in a running jet: UHF Mode: Preset. Preset dial to 2. Press status, observe that preset 2 is saved as 235.000 MHz. Mode: Manual. Dial 222.000 MHz. Press Load (Expect this updated preset 2 to 222.000 MHz). Mode: Preset. Press status. Expect 222.000, but see 235.000. UHF Preset save bug.trk
  3. Hmmmm. I’ll test again with the latest OB in case it snuck in there, and if it doesn’t work Ill bring back specific steps to compare procedures. Thanks. Regarding the status button, I suspect its a similar issue but the squelch switch is also not clickable, but using the test switch seems to act as squelch.
  4. Ok great. I had just reposted under the bugs section. I didn’t mean to be too noisy about it just ensuring the right eyes got on it. Cheers.
  5. Verified in thread https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=272212 Unable to update a uhf preset from the pit.
  6. Nav lights are strobing when set to flash as of OB2.5.6.49314.
  7. Good consolidation Raptor9. In response to 3, there is a "status" button on the UHF radio, and when depressed the display will show the preset frequency for approximately 5 seconds. The up front UFC repeater also shows the preset freq. Thus, 5 confirms my issue. If you use the status button you'll notice that the frequencies aren't even getting saved, so it follows that they won't be updated after the prepare mission function.
  8. Ah, Yes I think that method is working fine. I should also be able to set my own presets from the pit, but that appears to be bent for me.
  9. Ok, so with that dcs-bios fix, both vhf radios are perfect. Uhf consumes presets just fine, but I seem to be unable to update them. In man mode, I tune a uhf freq, set preset to the preset to update, press load. Then switch to preset mode and press status and it shows the old preset freq not the one I just tried to set. I also found that I cannot use the mouse to activate squelch or press the “status” button, but keybinds for those do work. Im using the takeoff instant action nevada mission. Can someone please try to update a uhf preset and let me know if it works? Im wondering if the mission defined uhf presets are not overwritable??
  10. Just following up in case anyone cares: this ended up being a bug within dcs-bios and a fix is being developed.
  11. Congrats! Thats an interesting tip for those suffering from the contrast issue.
  12. I just stumbled into this tool, which sounds like it aims to solve your issue! Setup seems a little involved, but it seems well documented: https://github.com/Santi871/DCSWaypointEditor
  13. My longshot thoughts: are there any commands in the jtac or f10 menus that the gunship might be holding for? Is there anything in the briefing about a laser code other than 1688? Failing that, Sabre-TLA is great at replying over at https://forums.eagle.ru/forumdisplay.php?f=542
  14. I am 99% sure this is a dcs-bios issue. Changing the preset in game/pit works as expected, but issuing the dcs-bios command to change preset changes preset but also sets the frequency to some fixed value. I am now working on debugging dcs-bios.
  15. Okay, thats valuable to know it can and should work. Im going to disable some exports and try testing some more.
  16. Two convos at once: A) does anyone use A-10 presets? They sounds good on paper but Ive always found it fast enough to manually tune. Howver a few recent missions Ive had frequency collisions and presets might be helpful. B). I suspect this is something basic and obvious to most, but I don’t know how these work. Here are my steps: Tuning vhf-fm and using the “out if band” tone to see if its working. Vhf-fm: tr, man. Tune 80mhz. Preset dial to 01, press load. Assume 80Mhz has been loaded to preset 1. Tune 90 mhz, hear tone. Preset dial to 02, press load. Assume 90mhz has been loaded to preset 2. Mode:pre, preset dial to 1. Expect: radio tuned to 80 and hence tone should stop, but it doesnt. Why?
  17. Try remapping the key binding in controls. If that key combo is being used, find another.
  18. General advice is not to use manual selection, for the exact reason you observed. If you are at the level where you care about profile properties, use profiles exclusively.
  19. Ifr approach charts help too. Caucasus and navada has great coverage. Pg not so much.
  20. If the circuits are the intimidating part, use something like the phidgets led board and enjoy the simplicity of usb and then direct connections to leds. Switches use the hagstrom boards. Yes, you can build boards from raw components if that is accessible to you, but if not you still have options. If you have programming skill but not money, look into atmel boards and dcs-bios. The fun part of simpit building is finding the solutions that fit your skills and resources. Make it yours!
  21. Should be an option under the flight:navigation menu?
  22. I started either ordering rtb early, or have him hold before I enter the pattern. AI wignmen are Not to be trusted!
  23. Theres not much to put on a schematic. Hundreds of switches connected to your controller of choice. A couple leds requires a resistor, but its almost all 1:1 connections.
  24. This is what scares me the most. If the A-10c-2 launches the same way other modules do, it will take years to get features back, and game blocking bugs will become part of the A-10 regularly like the F-18 module. It ain’t broke, and some features would be cool... but it could also be a massive step backwards for the flagship most complete and stable module. Hopefully it’ll be possible to have both and let them tinker with new stuff and have the stable v1 as fallback?
  25. I am a bit torn if I even want it. Part of me says yes of course, give me more power. But part of me worries it will take much of the skill and tactical intrigue away. If it gets too close to “point and click” to kill we might loose much of what makes A-10C cas so fun. I enjoy the challenge of managing sensors, tot and threat ranges. I am going to guess it is coming but I am not convinced its going to make the experience better.
