  1. Oh, the joys of parts hunting, how I miss the days ;) https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.ca%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F172224825066 I used something more like these : https://goo.gl/images/NJZH8K Ebay, digikey and mouser are great sources. Use their part filters and dig deep. Happy hunting.
  2. I agree zooming in (narrow FOV, china forward short) is the most obvious missing step. I assume its modeled as such, but the tracking is optical so without going narrow fov you are asking the tracking to lock on to a smaller object.
  3. Lucky break but that is one I recorded. By no means a tutorial or even a specific answer, but here is how it went for me :
  4. You mean the right engine emergency fuel shutoff? That handle serves two functions, and yup that’ll make startup difficult:)
  5. Check if there are any control axis bound to zoom or head tracking Z axis?
  6. Its on github now: https://github.com/Gadroc/helios
  7. I have found successful restarts very rare. That may say more about me than the sim!
  8. I am not aware of any sich functions. At best the mission planner would have set well timed waypoints with that in kind and the cdu will help you follow the plan. I keep the performance charts from the flight manual nearby for the rare time I need to optimize any of those.
  9. My two opinions on those campaigns: 1) “Training” is highly misleading. I think of them as final exams. They will test your ability to execute within many paramters. It can seem tedious at first, but over multiple missions they add more so its crucial you master each skill. 2) Decoding and sometimes guessing what the mission paramters are can be frustrating. You are guessing what a programmer thought to check for. But again, this is actually building an essential DCS skill for “real” missions. I spend over a year systematically completing these missions and can say confidently it was worth pushing through them.
  10. If you are doing thr same thing and it sometimes work sometimes doesnt, it sounds like you are just sometimes outside of the release paramters. Ie the weapons system will not release the weapon if it thinks you will miss the target if it does. Too much G or just missing the cue will cause this. The window of acceptable prameters is adjustiable via the ifccc test menus, but that would be wasting your time for 99% of scenarios . Just keep practicing and it will come. One aha moment for me was realizing you pretty much have to be at 1 G during releaae in all modes. If you are cranking stick last second to meet criteria you wont be at 1G and miss anyway. Try longer approaches so you can be level and aligned well ahead of release.
  11. Consider 3d printing a shell of a smaller working control. Some of the weird ones have to be custom made. Also be aware iff has no function in sim and is unlikely to ever be implemented.
  12. I think what we are being told is that “update” is generous here. The product is considered complete, but has recently been neglected and broken. So theyll unbreak what they broke but other than that we should not expect any advancement of the A-10.
  13. I just completed enemy within 15 where we do a csar cover for a downed F-16 pilot. I cleared the area of hostiles, used uhf adf to locate the pilot, approx, I verflew low and radioed for him to launch a flare. Tac iew does confirm ge was launching them but I was never able actually see it. Teied three times. After tacview review I was looking in the right spot. I have a strong suspicion the flare didnt render at all. No big deal as the mission completed after I faked the radio call that i had visual.
  14. Everyone keeps referencing the air force contract as the reason the A-10 can never receive a suite update. Contracts can be renegotiated. Most of the changes in the A-10 suite:next are in the F-18, so I dont accept thats its impossible because of a 9-10 year old peice of paper. Certainly Im not suggesting that I expect a change any time soon, but its not impossible is all Im saying.
  15. Look into the dsms profile options for min alt and sem (safe escape manoeuvre). These define the safe minimum release parameters, below which you will experience the systems preventing release. Having said that Ive never had a need in mission to adjust these. Better off to adjust your approach or overall tactic.

    Lua On Eject?

https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=3313067 Shows an onGameEvent callout which looks promising. Will try later and report back..
  17. My bullet proof method: if the waypoint is 800 nmi away, its the other one :)
  18. Can I get a signal from lua export stream to detect ejection event (in the A-10?) I want to trigger an effect in my g seat when I eject. I've browsed the "documentation" for export stuff and found several things that work, but no eject signal.
  19. Sorry to derail this, but as a side note, does anyone know what “iffcc only” implies? I saw it at our airshow. I have some theories, but always been curious.
  20. Im not sure of the F-18s side of this, but for the A-10 side of buddy lsing, make sure you agree on a laser code (1688 default for A-10 but changable via the tgp cntl page). Find a target in your tgp, laser-arm on. I prefer manual lasing so just hold pinky switch. I would warn you that lots of the F-18 isnt fully implemented so if it doesnt work it may just be premature.
  21. Orrrr... are you saying that the F-18 will identify A-10s all on its own regardless of how the A-10 is configured? In sim of course. I admit maybe I was thinking too much about how the real system works.
  22. Ill maybe give you the major generational gaps, but I disagree that similar era cannot iff interrogate eachother. Sure maybe different modes/idents but the whole point of the system is to identify friend from foe, so it shouldnt be sensitive to airframe. I do now see you said “in sim”, but this thing is called dcs world. Its vision is to share roles and aircraft so Id think working iff is within that vision. If not, then at least a hackey responder for now would work?
  23. Afaik the iff responder in the A-10 is not implemented. When the F-18 gets its iff interrogator, what does this mean for A-10s? Will it auto respond? Or will we appear as hostile? If not this would rapidly climb the “must have” updates required to this aging module.
  24. Notice the lack of hawg footage in the 2018 and beyons trailer
  25. Kk. Hawg power forever.
