  1. That is a known issue for a long time but I agree with you I observe it intermittently.
  2. Thats odd. Try show controls (rctrl enter) to see if its a control issue between joystick and dcs, or a sim issue between dcs and aircraft. Check control bindings after joining server and see if joystick is responsive in that ui? Ive seen some servers disable some things in an attempt to prevent cheating which can make things behave differently.
  3. I have been flying jtac controlled mission intentionally during dusk to night conditions, and had zero tgp issues. Yes the brightness of the mfcd needs adjusting occasionally, and bhot whot and vis are better in certain situations, but I never have them unusuable. Im not trying to say there aren’t issues for you, but I can confirm it CAN work, and may be a systems issue ie gamma setting? Video driver overriding color or brightness? Maybe generation of video card?
  4. Hey. Sorry for the obscurity ;). Tacview is a great piece of software that records the action in dcs and helps you review is later on. If you are doing the advanced tactical training campaigns you are definitely in the target audience. It only records after you have it installed, so you wont be able to view your previous attempts. The file I linked above is a sample recording. I THINK the free version will do the job for a while, but its also worth upgrading if you like it. https://www.tacview.net/product/about/en/
  5. Looks like I had to fly it 5 times before I figured anything out. Here is what I did: https://1drv.ms/u/s!Aknk7ypReuhpivpy2GQkJQklKFT-AA
  6. This is ringing a bell but I flew this years ago. Ill try to find my track file for whatever eventually worked. I found reviewing the flights in tacview to be a good way to see what happened and sometimes develop a workaround.
  7. Appreciate the slot but I was just asking a question. I hope the operation went well, maybe next time.
  8. Are slots that don't get filled switched to ai? I am considering an A-10 slot but have concerns about balance. Is there anyone acting as mission/strike commander or gci? Or is it more of a free for all with the known objectives.
  9. “Add precision”. What a polite way to straight up correct me :). And thank you for that I had definitely misunderstood the definition. Thankfully the concept remains unchanged. Nice post.
  10. AoA units are a scaled, arbitrary units proportional to degrees. Your question suggests you may not understand what AoA is, so Ill explain but excuse me if Im mistaken. AoA is the angle between the horizontal centerline of your aircraft, and the air passing by. It is easiest to understand if you look into ho bits measured: a little vane near the nose, as the vane gets deflected by the passing air, the indexer moves. So in some way it has nothing to do with dive angle. In theory if you were going fast enough you could be pitched 45 degrees nose down and have a zero AoA. Practically you care about your AoA during maneuvers and landing, and its sufficient to know the three bands during landing, and your peak performance tone is enough during maneuvering. I cant actually think of a time Ive used the AoA indexer gauge during flight.
  11. Ok got it. I aspire to care about ALL the numbers, but confess Im not there yet. This is a good baby step technique and once I master that I’ll get into full z diagrams. Been a great learning experience. I get a laugh that ccip starts out as “simple: put the thing on the thing”, and turns into all this amazing complexity. Love this sim and the 476th work on it. Thanks Eddie!
  12. Hey simmers. Im trying to refine my ccip approach, and follow the 476th battle book and using the classic 82 30DB2 profile. Im working through the math and I think Ive got most of it figure out. In this video demo, he dials in -34 to depress his fixed gun cross so that he can simplfy the initial alignment by simply placing it on the aop. I cant make the math for that profile produce -34. Where did he get that from? Input I am working with: Dive angle -30 deg. Ihp 178 mils. Iaa 6 deg Ipp 243 (pretty sure this is not relevant for this calculation)
  13. Nooooooooooooo. Aw well, thanks for reporting. You saved me a very disappointing evening.
  14. Oooo, super promising claim in todays patch notes. Will try asap.
  15. I think he means your throttle buttons may be sending false “clicks” when you dont actually intend to click. Ie “ghost clicks”. See if your radio button is sticky, off center. If you touch it gently or wiggle it just a little do you get any phantom menus popping up?
  16. @Diesel_thunder that diagram is the answer, PERFECT! And its from the same sequence as I was looking for that FO-5. Now I must find the rest of those figures. @Snoopy?
  17. I agree there is a good open question about why the right engine wont start with left engine running, crossfeed on, but no apu generator running. Does anyone have the electrical systems diagram? I have several copies of T.O. 1A-10A-1-1 which make reference to “Figure FO-5”, but I cant find that figure.
  18. Are you sure the tank open binding isn't just syncing to your hotas on every startup? Its a real “feature” of an A-10 that you cannot engage autopilot with the refuelling door open.
  19. Sounds fun! Ill pm you!
  20. Just tried this again after the latest patch, same issue occurs. Arrive onsite, get the message not to destroy the bmp until his orders, then nothing else happens.
  21. Wa ha ha . Okay... maybe “imagine a real pilot... with a real mission”? “A lifesaving missing”? I don’t mean to offend anyone. I remember the fighter pilot podcast episode with the F-14 pilot as they talked about the s$*# they dealt with, resorting to bic pen lids to modify switches, electrical tape to alter nvis lighting, etc. They got it done and I took that to heart with my approach to simming. This would be easy if everything worked and everything went right. It gets fun when you need to improvise, and find creative solutions to any challenge.
  22. can anyone imagine a real pilot whining this much about a piece of equipment? IRL its a piece of glass with blurry text superimposed attempting to show the results of a computer’s estimation of aircraft and weapon trajectories. Its not a direct feed to your optic nerve that solves the universes mysteries. Its a tool; its imperfect in real life and in sim. Was a previous version aligned in a way that made it seem better than it is irl? Yes probably. Is it possible to learn to use the tool in its present state to complete missions? Yes. You have to adjust tens maybe hundreds of controls to cold start an A-10. Why is adjusting head position such an offensive step to so many? I am thrilled they are investing any effort in the A-10 and afraid that if we “demand” that the effort is rolled back it will be easier for ED to do nothing than to keep it updated. Move your head position so you can see what you need. Buy a trackir for better simulation and its barely noticeable. My preflight checklist: once iffcc test mode is up, I lower the seat height just a bit until I can see the bist message. Then hold my had as far from the screen as I can, zero trackir and when I return to natural head position I can see enough to perform. I re zero trackir a couple times on longer flights.
  23. Autohotkey https://www.autohotkey.com/ can do this too
  24. I the context of this discussion I assume he meant “there is no rudder trim... that applies to NWS”.
  25. Try a steeper dive angle. Cbu-97 full hard, so you'll likely need closer to 50 degrees down. You wouldn't normally deliver ccip wing level straight on. Fly 30 off to the side of the target until its notched in your corner window, then roll over into the dive. Lots of youtube vids on ccip technique.
