How to delete Flight plans;Mark points ;S-points etc`????
Garfieldo replied to deeteewan's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Sure thing! Usually I also write down the mark points and their content (A = Shilka, B = OSA, etc...) just to make sure. But as soon as you create a markpoint by accident, you cannot use that list anymore to know how many mark points there are. Do pilots usually have pen&paper ready on their kneepad or anything? Or do they enter them into the CDU right away? It's hard enough to copy the DISPLAYED coordinates that the JTAC gives you, but hearing them on the radio and writing them down while simultaneously flying the A-10 IRL can get pretty hectic, I suppose. -

When you create a mark point and then go to a specific CDU page (NAV? WP?), it will show the last mark point in the top left corner of the MFCD that was created. It will read something like MARK F +- and then coords, elevation etc. like it does for all points in space. I know it works, just cannot remember the CDU page. But around 5 minutes ingame should clear that up. -
Looks like the TGP is very often used in "Both" mode to lase/point. I got used to using both types in multiplayer to enhance everybody's SA, nice to know it's done in the real world, too.

True awesomeness! -
The HUD GUI setting for the rounds is just for the aircraft to know which rounds it is firing. Right now I cannot think of rearming a specific type of rounds, it has to be set in the armament setup in the mission editor. To to use the TGP diamond as a targeting aid do the following: 1. IFFCC switch to "Test" 2. In the HUD menu, go to "Display Modes" 3. Change "CCIP Gun Cross Occult" to "No" Now the CCIP gun cross (CCIP mode, NOT GUN mode!) will not cover the TGP diamond. I usually use the MAV profile for TGP-guided gun runs, since this does not add any unwanted HUD symbology that clutters it (like freefall bombs).

Sounds awesome, will try your technique soon. Thanks for the detailed description.

I did not know you could edit WPs in the Mission Planner - nice. :smartass: Since I have been flying online mostly - where the Mission Planner does not work anyway - I got accustomed to setting up my targets manually before takeoff. So for any known enemy pos I convert the L/L coords and punch them into a new WP named accordingly, for example "AAA1". I also set up some generic/blank WPs that are simply called TGT1, TGT2 etc. keeping the WP page open during flight. So if any target coordinates are given during the mission, I can just enter them in the UFC/CDU right away and insert the WP at the appropriate place in the FPM menu. With a little practice you can do it VERY quickly. This technique improved my response time in a big way. Who needs SADL anyway? :P

Great shots, thanks for sharing!

Thats the B-52Q. The Q stands for quintuple arrestor hook :smartass:

Cool, didn't know that particular part. Thanks!

That's what I think, too. If you select ONLY tail, then it should be a high-drag-no-bang-drop, which is only useful if you hit the opened hatch of a T-72.

Thanks for the info! ... and for TARS of course! Awesome mod that even after one day of use I wouldn't want to miss! Great work, Headspace!

I have the german version of TS3, so the menu options might be a little different: in TS3 -> Setup -> Options -> Tab "Output"(? the one with the speaker) There is a slider to boost your incoming speech volume.
-
Maybe you have to boost your TS3 volume? Against the background sound of the A-10 comms over TARS were pretty quiet for me, but amplifying the volume (+10db) did the trick for me. What I do not get with TARS is the following: I think that it is not possible to tune into the preset guard channels (40.5 / 121.5 / 243) using the manual frequency selection (or the preset channels, obviously) but only by putting the radios into guard mode. A friend of mine ejected yesterday on a TARS testflight. We both had TARS configure our "personal radios" to VHF AM 121.5 MHz, so I tune my AM to 121.5 MHz, but there is no comms between him (safely on the ground) and me (in direct line of sight of my buddy). I put my AM into guard mode and there it is, clear as day. Is that expected behaviour? Why preset a frequency when you cannot tune into it?

I also have the Q6600 and could overclock it to 3.0 GHz without changing any voltages or other parameters. Stress tests result in an additional 1°C raise in temperature compared to 2.4 GHz, so if you want to increase your CPU performance I would give this a try.

A friend of mine just paid 0,35 €/page to print and bind his thesis at a local store here in Germany, so printing the 668 pages of DCS would cost like 240 €. While this is still too much money in my opinion, what the farp is wrong with the company mentioned above? Hope you find a more affordable alternative. EDIT just for fun: 727 L (british pound, I presume?) = 862 €
-
Simple, yes. Quick, no. I just think that the time it takes to input the freqs in the pit (boot up the plane, setup the radios, bla bla bla) is a significant factor and furthermore has to be done for every mission you create. On the other hand, a small utility could do it in batches, copying presets to the last x missions you created. If a squadron has their own SOPs they use in all missions, the manual method is a lot of work. But I agree, let's see what comes this way in form of B6. Until then, happy preparing to all of us!
-
I know nothing of lua editing and the like, but: Preparing the mission and setting up presets means that information is stored somewhere in the mission. Shouldn't it be possible for someone who knows this stuff to write a program (like the CMS setup utility floating around in this forum) that would ADD written presets to a mission externally? That would mean you create a mission, save it and then copy your presets from a .txt into the mission file by eans of that program.

Ok, now I understand your problem. I thought you were talking about the MSN###. The behaviour you observed is indeed odd. I haven't played DCSW in a while, but on the Steer PT Dial on the AAP there is a setting named "Mission". In the manual it says this accesses all mission-related waypoints. Maybe the indices of the WPs do not reset because they all belong to the same mission database. That would bring us to the question if it were possible to create non-misison WPs that start with 01...
-
Just like Druid said, the waypoint number is the waypoint's unique ID and cannot be changed. However you can still rename WPs, but I do not know whether the new name overwrites the ID or is just stored on another "layer" of the WP's data.

Thanks for sharing, I have been looking for this for a while now and finally given up on it. Good work! -
You can create MARKS using the TGP, the TAD and also the HUD I think. The problem is they do not show up as symbols on the TAD as long as you don't select them/make them active STPT (you have to switch to MARK with the AAP dial). A problem I encountered with this method is that once I switch to MARK mode on the AAP, MARK A, B, C... only show in the HUD as long as there is more than one MARK. If I create one MARK, the only thing that shows in the HUD is MSN001 or something similar. Anybody else have this problem?
