  1. Yeah thats a great choice on the monitor Buzz, you should not have any compatibility problems at all with that. Yeah anything like your bank, paypal, eBay and Amazon etc etc, just do a password change on anything that might have bank card details. Its good practise to do this every now and then anyway Buzz.
  2. Buzz, if I was you, you could go my route and just keep your hard drives. However, that's because I don't know as much regarding software and security as Bit master does. If you can get on TeamViewer with him. That's your best bet. His advise on this will be better than mine. Best of luck with the new system mate.
  3. Buzz, I hope you take me advise on the data issue. You are giving a complete system to someone you know. Please remove you HDD/SSD whatever has data in your old system and keep them. Then you can transfer data using usb adapters at your leisure. Your being charitable enough Buzz. Don't be too charitable protect yourself completely first. If the person you gift the system to is not one of the following. Family or a very physically local and long term friend. They can put their storage drives in your machine! By the way my mate 87 had cataract surgery this year. Took about 2-3 weeks for his vision to totally improve. Take it easy Buzz, anything else just ask us.
  4. Basically Buzz as long as Maingear are not fobbing you off with a lower spec CPU cooler or power supply then you should be ok. 5900x is solid, I have one. 3080 founders is a good thing too. An extra 100$ to go to 32gb is also reasonable mate. Let us know how it goes.
  5. Yeah I hear you Steel Jaw, Buzz doesn't have that options mate. No-one suggest a definite go to pre built supplier in NA?
  6. I rattled through a couple of custom specs at Origin and Cyberpower using their configurator, came to $2800 if it helps. That was with a 5800x, 32gb DDR4 and a 3080. Roughly what taxes are applies in the States?
  7. Hang on sorry, if you want a smaller monitor by all means Buzz get one, its the resolution that makes a difference not the screen size. The screen size is your personal choice, you know, what fits on your desk and all that. A 32" about 18-24 inches away is pretty perfect for gaming for visuals. For me personally I like a big screen. Let us all know how you get on Buzz.
  8. Buzz I dont think you will see the difference to be honest. I'm 40 with 20:20 vision and I use a 4k 60hz TV for DCS, I dont think I am missing anything at all. Ive use 120, 144 and 165hz monitors, they are for people playing first person shooter games online where very fast reaction times help the gaming experience. In games like DCS, IL-2, MSFS 2022 and the hunting games by EW. Its my opinion but 60hz is enough. Any more and your only making you computer hardware work harder, get hotter and use more electric. If I am honest I think it will get too confusing and add too many settings into you getting an enjoyable gaming experience. I have played The Hunter and had an EW account, so I know the pace of those games. You want a 32" 60hz IPS monitor. IPS is the screen tech and IPS gives a very clear image. The panel on my 4k is IPS. This Viewsonic is at Amazon, they are good I use to have one. ViewSonic VX3211-2K-mhd, 32 SuperClear IPS-Type panel
  9. No Buzz, Those synthetic cpu scores dont resemble actual differences in gaming performance. The 12700k Intel chip is much faster than the AMD 5800x chip. HOwever if you want to run your hunting games, DCS and some other games at 60fps it wont make any difference. Let me try to explain it to you this way. I use a 5900x cpu, it has x12 of the same cores the 5800x has x8 of. Most games only use x2 of those cores anyway, some use x4. Hardly any fully utilise a modern multi core cpu. So my 5900x when I am playing DCS is only really pushing x2 out of its x12 cores. Even then on an intense multi player server flying low over all of the trees I see about 75% usage on one core and about 65% usage on the other. Thats as hard as DCS is ever going to ask it to work. That is how I know that you will be just fine using a 5800x. You only need the best cpu you can get if you want to get as many fps out of a game as you can. I dont advise you doing that at all. I advise you to lock your games to use V-sync using a 60hz 1440p monitor and let the software take care of the rest. Your 5800x will perform in games as fast as my 5900x, I dont feel the need to buy the latest Intel 12700k. The memory is not faster either. Its DDR5 for the Intel and DDR4 for the AMD. Again in the games you will play you will notice absolutely 0.00% difference. You could get a 3070 if you want, but if you want all the eye candy in DCS get a 3080. However if you are happy with a little and I do mean little compromise on the graphics in DCS. Get the 3070. Me I would get the 3080, A 5800x with 32gb of DDR4 and a 3080 is a serious gaming machine by todays standards. I will tell you what I tell a lot of people. You can spend a lot of money you dont need to spell bound by specs and number. Do you "NEED" it though. The Intel is faster no denying that, I dont think you need it, I dont think you would ever use it.
  10. Have you looked at the videos I sent you? The AMD build will be perfect for what you want. You won't gain that much going with the Intel system. The 5800x is an excellent and solid CPU. The AMD 5000 series is so tested now there is very little to go wrong.
  11. Yeah two problems with me choosing a pre-built for you. I've built my own for over 20 years and im in the UK. Please take this advise though. DO NOT buy a system from a company that users their OWN BRANDED products. Make sure they make very very clear who's parts are going into your system. Using OWN BRAND parts is a way all PC builders hide lower spec parts in a system they build.
  12. Buzz please check your private message inbox... I did check the link, I would not buy from them either after reading that.
  13. Buzz, dude if your having that much trouble. Please feel free to send me a private message. It will ping on my email, i'll come back on and respond. Get you up and running. Can anyone in the USA let me know any bad reviews or experiences from such as Origin PC, Cyberpower or Alienware. I haven't come across any bad experiences from friends in the USA.
  14. Buzz trust me on this, its all moving along so fast even I struggle to keep up. That system will be fine for 3-4 years using the games you play mate. It will probably be out of date and you will want to swap parts before anything burns out. Thats a few years away though and the forum will be here to ask for advise.
  15. I'm in Windows 11, dont believe the doom mongers DCS is fine. Straight up. A 1TB Nvme for Windows, DCS and some hunting games. Thats not overkill its about right. I have x2 of them. A 1000w power supply with the 30 series Graphic cards is no bad idea. I run a 3090 on a 850w but I am very experienced building and looking after PC systems. I would have probably put a 1000w one in for you. Please let us know how you get on Buzz, i'd like to know mate.
  16. Buzz, with that extra info, maybe look at a 27-32" 2560x1440 60hz IPS monitor. That will give you a quality image while being very sharp. You can connect it with a Display Port or HDMi cable, it doesn't matter mate. For all those games it will pair up with your GPU very nicely. An IPS monitor will probably give you the best image for your hunting sims, are they the ones by Expansive Worlds?
  17. Viewsonic, LG, Acer and AOC do some nice monitors. You can go higher with 144-165hz monitors. If it is just for DCS a 60hz, ie for 60fps monitor is fine. Like Headwarp said its up to you on the size but with monitors you can spend 200-600. For the minimum maybe 2560x1440p 60hz your GPU will drive that perfectly. You wont "need" VRR tech like Freesync or Gsync. Just lock it to Vsync in the DCS settings and thats it really.
  18. Hector has made a good point there, I had a 6800xt, not great for 4k which is what I wanted. However, when I had 1440p it was perfect for it. Power usage, temps everything. My 3090 would be a total overkill and use more power than I needed. For 1080p this reason can only be greater.
  19. That looks fine, its a brilliant spec, if your happy with the price it will give you a great DCS experience.
  20. I totally understand Buzz and I dont blame you either. The cheapest but most capable gaming setup you can get is based on AMD 5600x, Intel is a few dollars more cased on a 12600k DDR4 system. If your at 1080p and happy with that a 3060ti will be more than enough. 1440p you want something like a 3070 really. Best of luck mate and I hope you get the system you want. One final thing though, if someone builds a computer for you. It is best to make sure each component has its own brand, Corsair for an example. Not something rubbish the builder has had branded for them. They will have bought those from the cheapest competitor.
  21. Buzz for $2200ish with some shopping around you should be able to build a 1440p capable gaming PC with a monitor, its not that hard to have a go yourself, feels like it is but once you get going. If you were in the UK I would advise Scan UK all day long. I'm guessing USA, you could try Origin custom PC configurator? Never used them though.
  22. Hi Buzz, I think a reply I made in a previous thread could be helpful..... check here and here mate.
  23. That all looks normal mate, I have a 3090 and cannot get stable 60fps with this setting "SSAA x1.5". Try no SSAA and use MSAAx4 or MSAAx2 with MFAA enabled in Nvidia Control Panel. Your temps look ok too.
  24. Depending on where you are in the world you could look at used stuff and save yourself even more, up to you if you have the experience for it. 5600x on B550 using one of the Vetroo V5 coolers is about a cheap a decent setup as you can get right now. Just put it in a case with a couple of decent intake fans and your done. Do just fine for DCS. The 12600k is a faster CPU but if you dont "need" it whats the point. If you have the money to get the best then that would be 12700k using Z690 or a AMD 58003DX using X570.
  25. Ala12Rv, yeah a mid range B-550 mobo with a connection compatible for your current ssd and a 5600x will do you just fine. Double check ddr4 capacity too but you should be just fine on that. I had one of those cheaper Vetroo V5 coolers on a 5600x, worked a treat for DCS. I have seen the same reports and video's concerning AMD issues. I have seen others for Intel too. I'm on a 5900x and X-570S I have seen no issues in Win 10 or 11. If you have the money and you want Intel get a 12600k and a Z690 DDR4 motherboard, difference is that it will cost you more. Both will work just fine. Might need a better cooler as the Intel chip will run a bit warmer. This is the thing the Intel chip will have a higher performance score, it can do more calcs per second. You dont need it for DCS.
