Yep, sorry Lange is right with the correct bios version same can be done for the 5800x3d I was trying to say that for DCS and performance. You cant put a bus ticket between the two. It's about as neck and neck as it gets.

A Windows RDP connection with a member from my Discord channel. I have the same connection with them. To upload .miz files. That connection won't be used anytime soon! One mission file ran on mine, UK. One mission file ran on his, USA. Im the sole mission builder. He works in networking I trusted his advise. I thought what we were sharing was secure. He helped setup my SRS recently. So far my gaming machine which shares the same physical router seems unaffected. That machine has no RDP setup at all. The purpose of this post was to prevent anyone else getting their servers attacked in this way. I would rather know what mistake I made and fix it. Cheers.

Hi Tiger, Thanks for your reply, really appreciate it. Luckily I treat the server machine as if it was a burner machine. I also keep copies of everything important on a 4tb back I, back up once a week. I'm a bit old school with back ups. Nothing has been lost I can't fix with re-formatting, re-installing and time. It was a wake up call that could have been more costly. Take care mate, thanks again for taking the time to reply.

It was my own machine. I went through every security firewall I can think of. I'm not an expert but I'm no novice either. There is a secure remote access setup with another user in the USA. The blackmail email was a Wanheda @ dnmx.org and Wanheda @ cock.li It was not isolated to the OS it went through drive :C :E and a connected USB stick. Every single file was corrupted and the file name changed with an encrypted stamp. Dont know how else to put that. I do hope no-one else gets hit by something like this. I had a few guys looking forward to a WW2 session tomorrow. System was running latest Windows 10.

Hi Guys, I run a DCS dedicated server in the UK with SRS. It does not connect to anything else, it only runs a DCS and SRS server. It was hacked sometime today and a trojan virus hidden as VPC.exe did a crypto ransomware attack. Locked out my whole desktop and locked all my drives. Windows was on :C and anything for the servers was on :E. Nothing is downloaded to this machine, not even emails are checked. My first sign of a problem was higher than normal wattage being used on my plug in watt meter. Then I noticed 100% usage on the CPU and on board graphics. The CPU temp being overly high was also an obvious sign. Other signs were SRS cutting out at random for various users. Severe stuttering and lagging were also reported before the desktop and any access was locked out completely. The servers were the DCS Hooligans so to anyone using them I am sorry but it will be down for the near future. If your running a server take whatever precaution or checks you see necessary as this experience genuinely sucks. I hope this does not happen to anyone else and it is an isolated incident. Can any experts on here advise on the potential that this could have carried via remote access hidden in a .miz file?? I share mission files with a PC in the USA, only concerned for my mates computer. Cheers take it easy all.

Ive had access to a 5800x3d X570s with 3600mhz DDR4 and a 12900k with 5600Mhz DDR5 at the same time. Whether its in flat panel or VR, there is not much in it to be honest. DCS will be pushing your GPU before your CPU. Both setups were providing 75-95fps and above on max settings on 4k using a 3090. In the end I chose the 12900k as its faster for anything outside of DCS and its power consumption is controlled with an undervolt.

Hi Guys, I have a HP Reverb G2 for sale, it includes a V1 and V2 cable, unused hand controllers, unused HP face gasket, AMVR face gasket with vinyl pads. A recently new head unit fresh from HP but no headphones. This is due to a cock up by HP's fantastic customer service team. Everything I have is boxed as if it was new. Please read what happened. The headset started having connection issues with my X570S mobo in August, HP sent me a V2 cable. That lasted about a week so HP sent me another cable, when it arrived it still didn't work. So HP told me they would exchange the headset. I boxed up the headset, with headphones attached. HP sent me a replacement without headphones attached. Problem! Now the headset and both cables work just fine but I have no headphones. I complained to HP thinking they would find my old ones and send them back. They actually asked if I could prove I bought it and for how much. I could, so they refunded me for the entire amount and bought back the warranty. They would not replace my headphones! I was told I could dispose of the equipment as I saw fit. So now I have a working HP Reverb G2, tested with DCS yesterday 30.11.2022. It does not have a warranty, HP bought that back. Would anyone on here be interested in buying it from me. I can send though a courier 24 hour service. UPS would be most convenient for me. Thinking £250.00 ono

I would not be surprised that your HP Reverb might be a problem. I have come across x2 sets now that have connection problems, especially on AM4 X570. I know your on AM5 but the problems could be similar. I also came across something regarding V-Bios on the 4090 having compatibility problems with certain AM5 motherboards. I think it was a Jay2Cents video tbh, check some of his latest including AM5 or the 4090 if you have the time. I dont know if it was solved but a lack of maturity in the Bios was the culprit. Even though I have a system performing very well in DCS I must admit I find the same upgrade tempting. I will probably wait until 7000 series x3d chips become available.

Buzzer1977, yeah I know my Mig Alley has been affected since 2.8. All the Korean set skins for such as the P-51 are default back to WW2. The Mig-21 on my 1990 based mission, i'm sure that was stuck back on the Slovakian livery back in 2.7. No matter what Soviet livery I set it to It always showed as Slovakian on the server. I'm glad this thread is up otherwise I would be trying to problem solve my dedicated server install and machine.

Thanks CaptHawk, yeah came across that thread too.

Hi Guys, Ran into a problem I cant find a work around for. The DCS dedicated server software doesn't include the skins for the Mig-21. So the Mig-21 is showing up as the 1st SLovakia skin in the mission. Instead of the Soviet skins selected. How can I add the missing default skins to the dedicated server install?? I tried adding to the saved game folder and to the "root" coremods folder. Of the server install, (its on its own PC). No luck so far.

AMD rDNA 3 PRESS CONFERENCE

I must admit I am watching this one very closely. I would love it if AMD really came through on this one. The larger memory bus width is what is grabbing my attention, quite excited. -
Thrustmaster MFD's using x3 in DCS
Bossco82 replied to Bossco82's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thank you for all the replies. This forum section rarely lets you down does it. It was a little awkward as he is in Florida, and I am in the UK. He has them working now, not sure what exactly was the key. However, the TARGET software, some powered USB hubs and mapping the third MFD manually in the FA-18 controls has done the trick. So, if you get shot down by Phillip on growlers or similar, it's your own fault you helped get his controls working, LOL! Thanks for the replies. -
Hi guys, I have a little Discord group and one guy is having trouble setting up x3 TM MFD's on his system. I think its an Asus Z690 Prime motherboard DDR5 version so the rear USB ports are a little limited. I recommended a powered USB hub. The problem he is having is both Windows 11 and DCS are only able to see x2 of the MFD's though a Corsair Headset Stand USB hub, (non powered). In Windows it see's MFD 1, MFD 1, MFD 2. In DCS it looks like two of the MFD's will put in the same input on the controls options page. The inputs from x2 of the MFD's ghost one another. Does anyone have any idea's to help solve this and get all x3 MFD's seen as separate controllers? Appreciate any help with this.

It will be very interesting to see how this compares to the 5900x and DDR4. Bitmaster is right there, the DDR5 does not scale well or have guaranteed compatibility when using x4 sticks as we have seen so far with Intel Z690. How it works with AMD's new design is yet to be seen as far as I know. I would have got 2x32gb sticks just to be sure.

If the monitor has a proper USB built in it should work just fine. on the flip side I know Track IR prefers a powered USB hub or a direct connection into the motherboard IO at the back. it all depends on how much power goes through the monitors hub.

Pretty much everything that Lucshep said. Its only my opinion but running DCS with a 60fps cap in the Nvidia control panel while using a G-sync monitor looks just fine. I use a 3090 with a 60hz 4k TV right now. It will also reduce the workload of the GPU and save on your electric bill a bit. However your kit gives you the ability to set a frame rate cap anywhere between 48-144fps. You almost have too much choice. Just from having a good experience with DCS on 60hz monitors before I usually cap at 60fps. The other thing you can do if your worried about load on your GPU is set a clock speed cap along with a voltage cap in MSI Afterburner. I use 1950Mhz @ 0.950mv. My 3090 runs a lot cooler too.

The one thing that is different about flight sims compared to fps games is that 60fps is fine. So if that is all your going to do a 60hz monitor is fine also. 4K is amazing visually but target spotting becomes much more difficult. I would say a 32" 1440p monitor is the sweet spot for DCS. A nice balance between visuals and playability. You can go new and get a 3060/3060ti or better. Or you can go used of somewhere like eBay, something like a 2060/2070 super would be good.

Hi there, I am in the UK and very familiar with Scan and Overclockers. For DCS your CPU, Dram and motherboard setup wont change much. However when we talk about the resolution you will use. Then that changes the power DCS requires from the graphics card and then in turn the power supply comes into play. A PC to last 5 years, in reality "maybe" but really honestly no chance, not with how fast it all evolves nowadays. 3 years is possible. No such thing as future proofing. So I will give you a minimum build to start on. To start a case with decent cooling and at least x2 intake fans and x1 exhaust fan. For the CPU an AMD 5600x cooled with a basic aftermarket air cooler, or a Intel 12600k cooled with a 240mm AIO (all in one water cooler). For AMD a B550 motherboard, for Intel a Z690 DDR4 version. For the Dram 2x16gb (32gb) of 3200Mhz C16, you can add two more matching pairs later. That will only be needed for multiplayer and even then only if its one that has 12+ players on at one time. Ok onto the graphics and resolution. The actual size of the monitor does not affect the performance and how hard your computer has to work. That affects clarity of the image. Its the resolution that makes you need a more powerful gpu. For 1080p an Nvidia 3060 or AMD 6600 (med-high settings). For 1440p an Nvidia 3070 AMD 6700xt same settings. If you have a monitor now you want to use, please post the model number it will help. If your just starting out and budget is an issue. I would probably go with AMD, for flat panel it does really well in DCS and can hold 60fps in most busy multiplayer servers. Please feel free to send me a private message if you need any further help.

Logitech X-56 Joystick failed after an hour
Bossco82 replied to brettt777's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Send it back under warranty, the powered USB advise is common. However I have a X-56 and mine works best if I plug it into the back of the motherboard. If I dont I get ghosting on the throttle.
