  1. Yeah this looks to me like first time setup shutdown/reboots. If its working fine now, for example during gaming etc. I wouldn't worry about it all. New systems often have the odd niggle or two.
  2. This sounds like the normal shut down and restart procedure that Windows goes through when setting up new hardware. The PSU clicking when it is powering down or powering up sounds normal too. My Corsair PSU does the same when I turn it on or shut down. Like Lucshep suggested, double check your Intel chipset drivers are up to date and carry on as normal. Thats a lovely rig, enjoy it.
  3. Yeah I agree with the other guys here. I have done a few "that'll get me by jobs" in the past. I wouldn't even attempt that one, not with such an expensive GPU. Cheapest and decent PSU I know that would do the job is the Corsair TX850M, I have one and its ran several different high end GPU's no problem. If you have the cash get a solid 1000w unit.
  4. I can second the dram advise everybody mentioned. Perfectly normal to have to raise the memory voltage a bit, also normal and "best practise" to manually enter XMP settings to achieve full speed. So enable the motherboards XMP mode then in addition manually enter those settings along with a voltage of 1.35-1.375v.
  5. Larry I could type out a big reply, but basically what "lucshep" said. Doing what you can to setup a 3080ti would be the best performance wise solution for running DCS on a big 4k TV.
  6. Simple answer that goes pretty much across the board regardless of what your running. Single player 32gb is fine, Multi player 32gb is ok but 64gb is the best way to go. A 5600x and a 3080fe will be just fine for 1440p, should be good for 4k too.
  7. Actually to be honest, if I was you and using a 1080p 60hz monitor. I would probably try to find a nice 2060 super on eBay etc. Then undervolt it using MSI Afterburner. I use to have one a couple of years back and it handled DCS at 60fps 1080p really nicely, plenty of eye candy etc.
  8. Out of that choice I would probably try for a 1660ti. MSAA is a GPU thing. Maybe give it a month and see if the prices drop any further. The used market could be a good option if you buy carefully.
  9. Unless you driving a 4k monitor, high resolution VR and have a high end GPU. I dont think there would be much point upgrading at the moment. Those 5800x3d CPU's will hold their price for a while. Until someone reports on its performance with DCS. We dont know if it would be of any benefit at all. I would have a look for video's about using either Ryzen Master or the curve optimiser in the bios. Make sure your getting the best out of your 5600x.
  10. Hi Taz, Please dont think I am being critical because I'm not mate. If anyone was going to stick to 1440p and use a Track IR I would recommend an AMD 6800xt all day long. I loved mine and it was butter smooth on 4x MSAA max setting at that resolution. Plus it would be a great experience too, 1440p is a real sweet spot for DCS. However as soon as you jump to 4k the AMD 256 bit memory bus cant handle the textures etc. Smart access memory doesn't seem to help either. If AMD had a larger memory bus on the 6800/6900xt I am sure it would be equal to Nvidia at 4k because the GPU core and memory itself run fantastic. Its just that as soon as you fly low near lots of trees or building the AMD card can do about 48 fps where an Nvidia 3080 would hold just over 60fps. Like I said thats only for 4k in DCS. Which very few people use.
  11. Taz, While I agree with you on the Unreal Engine and its performance regarding AMD GPU's. It doesn't apply to DCS at the moment. At resolutions of 1440p and below the AMD card is quicker. Anything above, ie, 1440p ultrawide and 4k the AMD cards are limited by their memory bus width. I have built systems with AMD...5700xt, 6800, 6800xt, 6900xt and Nvidia with 2080, 2080ti, 3070, 3080, 3080ti and I own a 3090. If anyone with the current engine DCS uses wants to use a resolution higher than 1440p you need an Nvidia 2080ti or higher. Otherwise you will not be able to maintain 60fps down low on higher settings. Please bear in mind this s only for DCS. Other games will be different.
  12. That all looks fine to me mate. You could try looking for a used G.Skill Trident Z 3200 C14 kit, they are a good price now DDR5 is about
  13. Yep what he said, all it can take is one box not ticked or un-ticked properly. It can all go out the window. When I first installed my 3090 I thought "how the hell can it be more stuttery" It does make you see the advantage of having a PS5 or Xbox but then I would have nothing to fix!
  14. Hi qbcat, As Hector has said, if your using that resolution dont bother upgrading unless it to something like a 3080. Going from a 1080ti to a 3060ti would be more of a sidestep.
  15. HI mate, Yeah after probably 10 years now I came back to custom water cooling. You dont gain much over a decent AIO for the CPU. However it pretty much solves any 30 series memory/junction temp issues. The difference is from the high 80 deg C doen to mid 60 deg C.
  16. It really does depend on the resolution you plan on using. If its 1440p, then your ok with something like a AMD 5600x/ Intel 12600k 32gb DDR4 and a Nvidia 3070/AMD 6800. Thats for pretty much maximum settings and a solid 60fps. However if its ultrawide 1440p or 4k. You need to dig deeper, the CPU can stay the same, you might want to consider the AMD 5800x or Intel 12700k, DCS cant use all those cores though. However, you need a Nvidia 3080 or better. I dont know what kind of memory bus AMD next gen GPU's will use. I do know that at 4k DCS will push my now watercooled 3090 pretty hard! If I let it. It will also use upto 12-15gb of Vram depending on the mission.
  17. Nvidia drivers only and MSI afterburner as often a custom undervolt can actually provide more stable performance. Finding a steady clock speed and voltage can sometimes be the best way to go.
  18. I agree with the others, thats a pretty solid system there. For me having tighter timed Dram helped a bit all around on my system. Something like G.Skill 3200/C14, quite a few used kits around now DDR5 is available. However with that TV as a monitor, something like a 3080 or above would be good. AMD as good as they are now cant handle 4k resolution as well as Nvidia. I know I had a 6800xt. You could always go the whole hog and go for Intels latest with DDR5, I dont think you need to at all though.
  19. Basically what Lucshep said. DCS is a strange one as what it needs to perform well changes as the resolution increases. 1440p and below I found AMD cards to be slightly faster and smoother. However once you go to 1440p ultrawide or 4k you need an Nvidia card with a larger memory bandwidth. Both the 6700xt and the 3070 will do 1440p capped at 60fps just fine, the AMD card will probably be a little smoother though, especially if its paired with a Freesync monitor. If you going to stick to 1080p, get a 3060ti.
  20. Are you using a USB extension lead by any chance. I have a small extension so I can cable manage, I sometimes get an error even if its connected ok.
  21. If your just using DCS as a single player mission or campaign then 32gb is enough. I know because thats what I use my PC for. Like the other posts. If your using DCS in multiplayer and using streaming apps etc, it will all add up and you will benefit from 64gb.
  22. At this point I would maybe download Cinebench R23 and do a couple of runs while monitoring HW monitor. See if that checks out and your CPU is ok. If that is a success. Reset Nvidia control panel, try running the maxfps at 60fps not 100fps and use MSAA instead of SSAA. I have a 3090 and I run MSAAx4 using 1440p 60fps and I am happy with that. 100fps is asking a lot from a 7700k keeping up with a 3090. I had something similar to you recently, suddenly my gaming performance was all over the place. Working one moment then not the next. I couldn't pin it down. Eventually the problem got worse and showed itself. My AIO had developed a blockage.
  23. Try installing MSI Afterburner. In the settings for the on screen display check the CPU, cores/speed/temps. GPU, Cores/speed/temps/voltage, DDR memory usage. You will have to go into the main settings and enable voltage monitoring. There are Youtube videos to set this up, JatTwoCents did one recently I think. Try to almost provoke DCS to do this again and see if the MSI overlays shows up a temp spike or 100% usage etc etc. You also have Vsync enabled what fps/hz does your monitor run at?? You could try running 4x MSAA instead of 1.5x SSAA.
  24. Hi Kyran, Pretty much what Zildac mentioned. If its available in Windows display options the widescreen resolution should appear in the DCS options. It really should be that simple.
  25. When I had my 6800xt I had spikes with Radeon chill that led to stutters with my Track IR. I used the framerate control option set at 60fps and bang it was butter smooth. On my 6800xt I set min clocks to 2300mhz and max to 2500mhz, it ran really well. Bear in mind the 6900xt runs about 100-200Mhz slower than a 6800xt but it has more cores.
