About the modes though.

What does a pilot need to fly a mission: ability, skills, experience, most importantly understand the task in a mission.

I know the human being and fish can coexist peacefully.

HACKER IS STRONG

 

Guys what is happening, this HaCKER tonight has strike down on every server and shot them down, they were just disapereing, will ED do something, it`s about time for some action!!!! S!!!!

Can't you ban him via firewall?

Who ever is doing this, be it a single person or multiple, is using proxies for these attacks. So far there is no clear trend in the IPs that are used, hence IP banning is not the solution.

 

ED is aware of the issue. If they can fix it or provide information that can help us fix it is not clear at the moment.

If anyone knows a software firewall that can filter packets based on content, then please let me know. That may be the only way to prevent these attacks.

While the hacks are active, you will still see a list of servers showing up but keeping refreshing the list and notice that 99% of them have their "Game time" frozen which coincides with servers freezing.

 

Exactly. And if you do a 'new search' instead you'll see only the servers that are actually up. One minute ago our server was crashed again, and when I checked the lobby, only 3 servers were up. Will post a screenshot later.

 

That is the 5th deliberate crash of our server in 4 hours.

I am not sure but if my memory doesn't fails me there are packets filters available (either via own scripted rules or already made). I don't recall details because I wanted to filter packets few years ago and forgot most things.

I guess Sanch0 will help you more :)

 

Anyway problem will be mostly solved in FC3 - to the master server can connect only valid game (purchased). So after first time of being banned he would have to buy next game copy which is rather not likely.

That depends how it works. It would be impossible to route all traffic through the master server, which means that clients will only use the master server to find a server, but then all traffic would be direct. Chances are that if that is the case, and this bug is not fixed, FC3 could suffer from this as well.

Hiya Case. I don't know of any Windows-based firewalls that do this, but some must exist - the term to search for is "Deep Packet Inspection". Hope you find one that suits you.

Apparently ED has fixed this for FC3 but will not patch FC2/BS1. Unfortunately they have not provided any information to server admins on how to prevent these crashes... :angry:

This is horrendous.

The 104th is running, checked on my 'history', but not in the 'Internet' list. Seems the master server isn't updating so well...

have you asked how the Russian servers managed to filter the hacks?

 

My opinion is that Russian servers did not manage anything, they just aren't under attack! I have lately gathered as much information as possible from the Russian community and it appears that they know who is doing this, and he also knows that they know. And the reason he can't attack Russian servers is pretty obvious to me. I can't say more than that in public. I can direct to these specific links if needed via PM.

Sorry, don't mean to be negative. There is no doubt that this has hurt FC2 though. I understand why though, with FC3 close, that efforts to fix this in FC2 may not be the best way to go about things currently.
