Has it been stated to be Normandy anywhere yet? It could just be a montage/test of the capabilities of EDGE. I'm sure things will improve.

I'm a little confused about the reward for 40$. The info page says the free downloadable version contains the P-47, Spitfire and Bf109. The planes that are planned for the base goal are just those (plus the two ED modules of course), so what exactly will we get provided no stretch-goals are met?

 

 

 

P-51 and Dora will be non-flyable in the free version. So $40 gets you those, plus of course any additional stretch goal aircraft.

As stated previously, there is a month of updates planned. Surely you don't you want them all at once do you?

This is a real quickstart, See the presentation of Chris Roberts Star Citizen for example.

Well it's open for a month, spreading the info out is a good way to keep interest up, it also allows them time to actually prepare more stuff to show you. Kickstarter probably isn't an ideal platform for people that want things right now. Nobody is forcing you to pledge... or even get excited about this project. Maybe as the month goes on and more is released you will find it more to your liking. Patience is a virtue after all..
