FoReIgNeR Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Hey guys, just a quick observation. I've been playing around with the mission editor, creating 20 vs 20 Pony vs Dora furballs in the sky (SP). All is good, but I can't help thinking that the AI is biased to attack me (the human player). Does anyone else have this feeling? In this instance, I even took some extra steps to ensure that the AI should attack my allied flights first: I stayed behind my friendlies when flying towards the AO. I waited untill my friendlies started to engage, and in the meanwhile loitered and tried to gain an altitude/energy advantage. But somehow it always ends up like this: And in the end I most often find my enemies killing themselves (bumping in to each other) persuing me than my team shooting them down... (Where are you team?!) Sound familiar? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Limitless Aerobatics Team Facebook
audax Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 I have made the same experience in the F-86 furballs.
T_A Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 What level did you set them? i made 40 v 40 F15C vs Su27 yesterday , AI was set to 'Good' (not excellent) and i was barely engaged. Aginor Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 I could never really prove it (didn't test with WW2-planes yet, where it is more obvious I guess). But I always got a bit of an impression that they hate me more than other AI planes. So I just thought it was my paranoia. :D DCSW weapons cheat sheet speed cheat sheet
FoReIgNeR Posted November 4, 2014 Author Posted November 4, 2014 What level did you set them? Starting at 20K ft, it's actually 16 vs 16. I attached the exact same simple mission as in the screenshots (player is Dora). Anyone not finding themselves entangled with 5+ P-51's within a minute or two?WWII Furball.miz [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Limitless Aerobatics Team Facebook
IonicRipper Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Happened to me just not playing the MiG Sweep mission in the F86. I lookked back in the middle of the fight and noticed 4 MiGs on my tail. Thought that was strange... i5 4590 @ 3.77GHz | GTX 1060 6GB | 16GB 1600MHz DDR3 | 1TB HDD+500GB HDD | Win10 Home X64 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Anyone not finding themselves entangled with 5+ P-51's within a minute or two? I think he meant the difficulty level of the enemies, not the altitude ;) Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!
FoReIgNeR Posted November 5, 2014 Author Posted November 5, 2014 I think he meant the difficulty level of the enemies, not the altitude ;) Uuuh haha... :music_whistling: I set them to the default which is 'High' I think. Tried the mission again a couple of times yesterday and always the same outcome... [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Limitless Aerobatics Team Facebook
Ironhand Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 The AI will, given the opportunity, attack you first. The AI difficulty setting alters things like the range at which they will react to you, launch weapons (for missile platforms), how effectively they defend themselves, etc. But, at all times, they are all knowing and all seeing. 9.JG27 DavidRed Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 yeah, i also share the same experience as the OP.i hate the fact that they always go after the player first.not because its impossible to fight them, which it isnt.but because it creates such an unrealistic taste of all the missions.they will follow you, even if they already are pursued by your friendly AI and totally ignore them even when receiving hits.looks quite distracting. 1

Thanks for the info =) But then what would be a good solution? When you turn the AI skill down they become helpless chicken and fight 1vs1. When you turn the AI up, the fight is good, but you're fighting 5 at a time... Can you change this attack range over skill somewhere in the LUA files or something? Bucic Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 From the tone of posts of some ED officials I deduce the general need for AI overhaul in DCS has been acknowledged so be patient. Even if I read the posts wrong, I think no one in his right mind would say that the current AI requires 'just some tweaks'.
