Bourrinopathe Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 Hi there, As I’ve had no luck with the search tool, I was wondering if I’ve missed an in-game option to display these updated afterburner effects (showcased on the Su-27 official page) : (I'm using the updated FC3 displaying the classic hard-edges AB GFX) More wonderful in the wonderful would be wonderfuler ;) /// ВКБ: GF Pro MkII+MCG Pro/GF MkII+SCG L/Black Mamba MkIII/Gladiator/T-Rudder MkII | X-55 Rhino throttle/Saitek Throttle Quadrant | OpenTrack+UTC /// ZULU +4 /// /// "THE T3ASE": i9 9900K | 64 GB DDR4 | RTX 2080ti OC | 2 TB NVMe SSDs, 1 TB SATA SSD, 12 TB HDDs | Gigabyte DESIGNARE mobo ///

joey45 Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 EDGE maybe? The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. theropod Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 is it too visible on day light? at real airshow videos i cannot see afterburner effect clearly, can it be transparent at daylight?
Bourrinopathe Posted December 27, 2014 Author Posted December 27, 2014 (edited) That screenshot is from upcoming DCS 2.0, so you're not missing anything, just wait :) Ah great! Thanks for the info. Based on the Su-27 screenshots, the AB daylight visibility doesn't seem to be implemented yet. But it's not finished, so there's hope ;) Edited December 27, 2014 by Bourrinopathe /// ВКБ: GF Pro MkII+MCG Pro/GF MkII+SCG L/Black Mamba MkIII/Gladiator/T-Rudder MkII | X-55 Rhino throttle/Saitek Throttle Quadrant | OpenTrack+UTC /// ZULU +4 /// /// "THE T3ASE": i9 9900K | 64 GB DDR4 | RTX 2080ti OC | 2 TB NVMe SSDs, 1 TB SATA SSD, 12 TB HDDs | Gigabyte DESIGNARE mobo ///
theropod Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 (edited) havent you ever seen fighter take off? i saw real f-16, real f-4, real f-5 and t-38s many times during takeoff my friend and non of thems afterburner is visible on ''daylight''! question is; did you see any fighter during takeoff at daylight? can you show me a picture of afterburner which is too visible on daylight? In daylight I only observe the intense glow of the engine nozzles - not the extended trail of flaming exhaust. As daylight dims, this trail becomes more prevalent. Light a propane torch in daylight and observe how much flame you can see then do the same at night. Big difference. I do like the graphics though. Very nice indeed!

steel_tiger1 Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 Actually saw them on an F-22 Raptor on a hot July day at an airshow, was awesome. SyntaxError Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 Hopefully they introduce an alternate afterburner effect for low light conditions. But other than that I'm loving the new EDGE afterburner so far! F/A-18C - A-10C - FC3 - L-39C/ZA - Ka-50 - UH-1H - Mi-8MTV2 - F-86F - Spitfire - P-51D - P-47D - BF-109K - CA
Witchking Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 I think if they implement a proper "dynamic light" afterburner with "fluid simulation", we can get a more dynamic AB that can respond to different light conditions. I've been wondering for a while now about the capabilities of EDGE when it comes to physics, particle physics, and soft body dynamics. Things like smoke realistically reacting to rotor wash and aircraft flying through ect and dynamic debris from explosions and vehicles would be great... I'm a total newby when it comes to game engines and what they truly capable of and still be viable for your everyday user who doesn't own a $3000+ PC.
