Kind of surprised to see no comments on the fact that the flir is now working properly in 2.5. It will probably be updated further in the coming year but for now it's much easier to pick out targets in whot & bhot modes. Other objects, trees, buildings etc are no longer 'hot' thank god! Also, what do you all think of the new NVG? Will take some getting used to but it does seem a be a more realistic implementation of night vision?

I noticed that too, good job ED! Finally a good usable FLIR/TGP.

I noticed this and its fantastic.

The only downside is that a large number of the easily found glowing things are now able to hide behind the new trees :O)

It does seem better in 2.5.

However, I did notice that there was a tendency for the sensor to lock onto the poles of streetlamps (not the lights themselves), instead of vehicles moving down the road behind them. I'm not sure that the steel poles would provide a better target than the vehicle behind. Perhaps this should be corrected, it seems that those poles are a little too hot.

I wish I could, as I have almost identical videos of 1.5 and 2.5 flir/gbu 12 drops, but no clue what software to use or how to make those side by side videos.

I'm seeing this more in Nevada than the Caucas map.

You can use Nvidia experience to record and Vegas to edit and render. But if you are not familiar with these , it may take some time to catch up

Maybe they're hot because they're made of metal and had been under sun rays for hours? just guessing :)

it looks considerably better in the hog A too. like night and day, or black hot and white hot. heh.

you guys take tons of shit. the good must be tipped the hat. I'm a massive cynic and critic of everything, it comes with age I think. That being said, whip it out and start smacking people. 2.5 isn't perfect but its a water mark. Im excited by your progress.

I also noticed the improvement of the TGP/FLIR and have to say that in the end everything seems to be quit nice in 2.5... well done ED!!!

Updated a video for Nevada after all the tweaks recommended. I was getting 68-100 fps now WITH CBU's going off. I think the engine is ready to go with a few more tweaks from the DEV's.

Also put some more FLIR in this one per several PM's I got. Let me know if you want one from the Caucasus at different times of the day.

It works much better but I do notice the FLIR is quite a bit darker at night which I wouldn't expect.

I noticed I can make it even better now by using the hogs built in gain system. Depending on which mode or time of day, I can fine tune it between 3 and 6 with the left buttons on the right mfcd.
