Hey fellas, I've been experiencing graphical anomalies in FC 1.12 (see attachment).

I'm using a Gigabyte GF8800GT and have the latest nVidia drivers (this glitch occoured on all previous driver versions used in this PC in the last year~).

This thing happens with OR without FSAA enabled.

P.S.

This happened to me also on BioWare's "Mass Effect".

Is this problem solvable?

EDIT:

whoops, forgot to u/l the screenie :)

Hello,

For some reason I cant seeme to see your attatched image, so im kinda shooting blind here, but my only tip could be to check your shadow settings in game. If they are set to full, you are probably seeing the bugs wich all geforce cards have in lockon (correct me if im wrong). The plane will appear "faded" and you will see no shadows. The sollution is to set your shadow setting to second best.

Hope this helps:)

I tried what you suggested and it worked! I changed the shadow settings from "Full" to "All Planar".

Thanks!

P.S.

Why does this happen with nVidia cards? I'm quite sure it also prevents me from running Falcon 4.0 properly in Vista (runs well on my XP - dual boot machine).

I get stuff like that with nearly every game I play with all nVidia cards I've had.

Some games I can even see shadows of players through walls (so watch out in COD5 lol)

Ever since video cards with DirectX 10 suport came out, the full shadows in LockOn no longer works... so use All Planar instead... it's same with ATI cards also, not just nVidia.

Precisely. The only way you're going to see full shadows working correctly in lockon is if:

a - you use a pre DX-10 class video card (ATI X1xxx or lower class, or Geforce 7xxx class or lower)

b - ED fixes it :D

white lines on the edge of wings, air intakes under Full Shadow option cannot be fixed if you're using DX10 card (both ATI & Nvidia). I've seen the white lines on the edge of wings on both Geforce GTX260 and ATI Radeon HD4850

Trouble with those shadows is the fact that Dx10 drivers aren't cumulative so no full suppport for Dx9 and like in case of LOFC Dx8 features.

But, if you disable Dx10 drivers by uninstalling them and installing Dx9c you'll overcome this problem, however you won't be able to play Dx10 games in their true beauty.

You'll also have strange white lines displayed on the seashore with nVidia Gfx so Ati GFx seem better in this case although general picture quality in LOFC is better with nVidia.

What are you going on about? ;)

The same shadows problem exists with Windows XP as it does in Vista (which is native DX9 and has no DX10 features whatsoever) the trouble lies in the hardware/shaders, not the DirectX software.

That however is fixable, i take it you've never tried TekaTeka's Coastline mod? get it here
