SinandGrin Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 With the upcoming DCS release of the A-10C I was wondering if anyone knew of some good websites or books to help start getting acquainted with the Hog. Anything that involves AC systems, weapons , tactics, and general procedures. I would prefer online material just to avoid buying a bunch of books, but if there was a hangs down must read book I would certainly consider it. I would be most interested in learning about the navigational systems, autopilot, and weapons systems.
Triggerhappy69 Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 Here's a link to the A-10A manual..: http://cid-58ab92e8ffe73bbb.skydrive.live.com/browse.aspx/A-10 Just download the ZIP files and extract them together.. "But (504)Brewber said they were'nt friendly.. So I took'em out.!" [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
ruprecht Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 Crikey trigger, is that your A10 archive? there's some amazing stuff in there! DCS Wishlist: | Navy F-14 | Navy F/A-18 | AH-6 | Navy A-6 | Official Navy A-4 | Carrier Ops | Dynamic Campaign | Marine AH-1 | Streaming DCS sometimes:
Waldo_II Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 How much of the A-10A manual would be relevant to the A-10C? I can imagine that many of the weapons systems, autopilot systems, and defensive systems would be completely different with the upgrade to modern digital electronics.

Griffin Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 Just download the ZIP files and extract them together.. Could you give more detailed instructions how to do it? I couldn't figure out.
-fox- Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 (edited) Use WinRAR, put all the parts (A10 Manual.part1, etc...) in the same folder and extract the first part (for example: right-click on it, choose 'Extract here'). Edit: Tried it myself but it seems like the archives are incomplete or damaged. Seemed a bit small anyway. The A-10A_Flight_Manual.pdf weighs in at a whoppin 110 MB - you can find it here, btw: http://rapidshare.de/files/47314510/A-10A_Flight_Manual.pdf.html Edited August 23, 2009 by -=fox=-

-fox- Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 May have something to do with this files not being direct download-links although they appear to be. Right-click -> "Save target as" doesn't work either if you havent left clicked them first. Maybe that's the reason why the archives were so small and didn't work.
Griffin Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 I downloaded the big one from Rapidshare. Thank you!
Triggerhappy69 Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 I have uploaded them again.. try now? "But (504)Brewber said they were'nt friendly.. So I took'em out.!" [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

-fox- Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 (edited) Note that this is for the A10A. The rapidshare-link came from this site, btw.. Edit: Sorry, Triggerhappy, I probably edited it in after you have read my post. Bad habit of mine... Edited August 23, 2009 by -=fox=-
SinandGrin Posted August 23, 2009 Author Posted August 23, 2009 Awesome stuff guys! I really appreciate all the information, keep it coming. I am really hoping to find info on systems that would be specific to the A-10C from the service life extension program to include but certainly not limited to the fire control system, electronic countermeasures, HUD upgrades, and the INS / GPS Navigation systems. I certainly understand how hard it might be to get this sort of information but just thought i would ask and throw it out there to the community.
LazerPotatoe Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 Here is a good overview of the A-10C upgrade: http://www.aviationtoday.com/av/issue/feature/All-New-Warthog_1219.html LP modules: F5-E / A4-E / A-10A / AJS-37 / SA-342 / UH-1H / Ka-50 / Mi-8 / CA would buy: OH-58 /AH-64A / AH-1 / Sepecat Jaguar / F-111
Deadman Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 Well It appears that the Free copy of TO 1A-10A-1 is missing the Flight Data supplement TO 1A-10A-1-1. So you might want to buy a full set on line if you really want to know the full capabilities of the aircraft. https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.
