No problems here - Obtaining lock from 7.9 Nautical Miles with the D's from 6000'.

I've noticed that the Strela-1 is exceptionally hard to get a lock onto with the 65D (under 3 miles), yet MBT's and APC's etc are fine all the way out to 7 miles or so, anyone else noticed this?

ah so its the strella's thats them.

I did a test and it seems it's strela's UAZ's humvee's the smaller apc's like BRDM's and BTR's. Strela-1 locks at 2.5nm, UAZ humvee and smaller transports lock at 1.5nm. BRDM's BTR's around 3nm. Any MBT is the usual 7-8nm range lock. Might be a target size issue as the smaller the unit the closer you have to be to lock it.

Yes, target size plays huge role in seeker lock range. Just like the real thing, it is a function of target size (x number if mils) in side the tracking gate in center of cross hairs. Nothing to do with IR level.

In A-10C this will be quite a bit more realistic with things like break lock logic, force correlate mode, and much improved IR video.

Does it factor in the size of their heat signature with the AGM-65D's or is it just the size of the target? Meaning if a vehicle is doing 60mph down the road it's going to have a larger heat signature than one sitting in the field idle'ing.

I think that the K is dependent on target size, since its electro-optical, but the D is depending on how strong the infrared signature is.

Judging with simple reason, if a flare counter measure, which is quite small, is enough to "fool" an infrared seeker then the signature's power is more important than the size.

Ok I gotcha, I was just curious how it worked. Theoretically smaller engine = smaller IR signature anyways so you would have to get closer with the D's anyways.

I think theres a conspiracy against the A-10 ,,,,

I might have to go over to the dark side and try the SU-25:smilewink:

I do love the Vikhr & BS. What a Chopper Sim combo. Cant do that with two seaters in single player.

Remember Longbow2 lan with non AI gunner.

Wags, would you say the i5-750 would be a good processor to run the a-10c?
